Another Fine Mess (Con’t.)

September 6th, 2013 - 11:11 am

General Robert Scales (US Army, retired) on the administration’s war efforts:

By no means do I profess to speak on behalf of all of our men and women in uniform. But I can justifiably share the sentiments of those inside the Pentagon and elsewhere who write the plans and develop strategies for fighting our wars. After personal exchanges with dozens of active and retired soldiers in recent days, I feel confident that what follows represents the overwhelming opinion of serving professionals who have been intimate witnesses to the unfolding events that will lead the United States into its next war.

They are embarrassed to be associated with the amateurism of the Obama administration’s attempts to craft a plan that makes strategic sense. None of the White House staff has any experience in war or understands it. So far, at least, this path to war violates every principle of war, including the element of surprise, achieving mass and having a clearly defined and obtainable objective.

But other than that, the administration is doing just fine.

If someone pointed out to Ø that Assad was a Conservative Republican (and he really is, by any definition, conservative)...

There'd already be nuke craters where Damascus is now.

Just to throw it out there, has anyone cherchez'd la femme on the Syria issue? I bet Michelle is strongly pro-strike. Her husband isn't looking like much of a manly-man these days. And Laura Bush still has something on her. If (when) the strike takes place and Obama takes credit for all kinds of non-existent success, I bet we can expect to see a little something of Michelle, looking steadfast and somber and vitally important to the Commander-in-Chief of the world's greatest military, defender of human rights and safeguard of worldwide freedom.

While trying to put pressure on Putin and win support of his "Liberal" base by emphasizing Russian treatment of Gays, he has been silent on the Syrian treatment of Christians in Syria.....or the treatment of the LBGT community in Syria. Meanwhile in Russia ex-KGB members are giggling uncontrollably and saying if Obama wants to be 888888 by men it can be arranged in Russia.

Enjoyed Scales' Eisenhower reference. More should be written of that.
