The State Department lawsuit against Arizona’s “tough” new anti-illegal immigration law (it features requirements so stringent, they’re already mandated in that fascist bastion: Rhode Island) is about as unpopular as the Arizona law is popular. Even über-blue Michigan voters approve by overwhelming margins.
Nevertheless, Hillary Clinton’s State Department is basking in its own sense of self-righteousness in a report to the United Nations. Here’s the whole story from the AP:
PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is demanding that a reference to the state’s controversial immigration law be removed from a State Department report on human rights.
The United States lists its legal challenge to Arizona’s immigration enforcement measure on a list of ways the government is protecting human rights. It’s part of a report to the United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights.AdvertisementIn a letter Friday to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Brewer says it is “downright offensive” that a state law would be included in the report.
Arizona’s law requires police enforcing other laws to investigate the immigration status of people they suspect are illegal immigrants. Critics say it will target minorities, but Brewer says it prohibits human rights abuses.
There’s no way of knowing what’s going on inside the Administration these days, but I can make a couple guesses. One, maybe they just don’t give a damn about public opinion anymore, and maybe they never did. Two, they are so disconnected from reality that they think this is a winning hand.
Either way, American voter, your voice isn’t being heard and isn’t even very much welcomed in DC.

I vote for complete disconnect. It’s what I call the “McGovern Syndrome,” after the New Yorker who was shocked to find out Nixon won by a landslide in ’72, and exlcaimed “but everyone I know voted for him!”
Everyone in his administration knows they’re on the side of the angels. The pot-loving, vodka-swilling libertarians and bigoted, racist, bible-clinging conservatives just don’t get that. I’m sure there’s a gun involved somewhere as well. Or an expensive camera.
Remember that Harry Reid said he hates the smell of tourists in DC
Odds are they still think this is a winner in Blue States, especially California, and by pushing the lawsuit they can goose Democratic turnout enough to get Boxer and Brown across the finish line.
I’m with Casey (sorry Casey), everybody they know thinks AZ is a
racist hellhole, except for the illegals of course.
When you’re firmly ensconsed in your leftist cocoon, it’s hard to
understand, or care, what the hoi polloi think.
They think this is Europe, where bureaucrats have been free to run roughshod over the people for generations. That trait is why American proglodytes want so desperately to make America into Europe, or at least to subjugate America to things like international “law.”
prior to obama’s election, i had never heard of saul alinsky. when he became a source of discussion re:obama policies, i tracked down his “rules for radicals”. two of his policies are maximum polarization and ridicule the opposition. it seems to me that obama policies are based on the first and his defense of them on the second.
I live in Maryland, but I fly the Arizona state flag on my front stoop in protest of this stupid administration. Kinda wish that would catch on in the rest of the country.
Wonder if Gov Brewer has any aspirations beyond the Governorship? Keep playing into her hands, O.
