First it was the President, and now his snippy little press secretary, publicly harshing on the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Insty’s got your roundup already, and the only reason I hadn’t hit on this yet was that something was nagging at me about it — but it took until just now to figure out what that was.

The last time I can think of a President dismissing the country’s highest judge was another Democrat, Andrew Jackson. And his famous quip that Chief Justice “John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it!” Or to put it in (strangely appropriate) playground language, “You and what army?”

The result of Jackson ignoring the Marshall Court’s decision was the Trail of Tears — some of the most brutal and shameful actions in American history.

I wonder what will come if Obama continues to dismiss the Roberts Court.

  1. History does tend to repeat itself, especially when one makes active attempts to ignore it.

    Word.

  3. Especially when our ‘administrative rulers’ intend to repeat it!

This is just another example of how the audacity and arrogance of this administration. They have no respect for anyone, are unprincipled, arrogant, and stupid to boot. I pray for the president who comes after Obama, because he’s going to have one heck of a mess to clean up.

Don’t forget FDR & his court packing scheme. That threw out 140 years of American jurisprudence.

Anyone who does not kow-tow to The Whine’s views get blasted. Intimidation & thuggery, the hallmarks of fascists.

    The Constitution provides for
    replacing bad actors; The way
    the provisions are positioned
    may provide some interesting
    interactions. :)

    Best case: After intense private
    discussions amongst the parties as
to who is going to do what to whom,
and who gets paid, Biden resigns,
    Obama appoints the replacement
    agreed upon, Obama resigns, the
    replacement serves out his term,
    governing per the aforementioned
    agreement,and
we all live happily ever after. :)
