Gonna Stand My Ground

Mir-Hossein Mousavi — not backing down.
Heartening, but as a 30-year veteran (and vanguard) of the Islamic revolution, don’t expect him to treat us as kindly as the Shah did.

in honor of females everywhere!
Here is a photo of a female student flipping off Ahmadinejad the day they ran him off from the University (when all this revolt started).
I think everyone would like it. Also at http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/ravenlore_/flipthebird.jpg or http://tinyurl.com/lvsms4

Exactly. Unless this man has had a genuine change of heart, I can’t see why anyone would protest in his behalf as a candidate-By the accounts I’ve read (which may be wrong, admittedly) he’s certainly got a lot of blood on his hands.
“he’s certainly got a lot of blood on his hands.”
This is precisely why we should stay out of it … it is not our problem.
Ironically, Ahmadinejad is better for the US because he so obviously bat-shit crazy he can’t serve as an effective voice on the world stage. Most of his foreign policy is actually popular within Iran. Maybe not how he’s going about it, but the nuke program and the support for Shiite communities and the opposition to Israel are all popular positions. Mousavi will almost certainly continue them in one way or another. He just won’t be as idiotic to come right out and say something about cleansing the zionists in nuclear fire. Everybody holding the “moderates” up as heroes needs to remember that the nuke and missle programs were running under Rhafsanjani, plus for Mousavi to even to be allowed to run he had to be approved by the Guardian Council so its not like he’s an outsider.
Still, his election will twist off the Supreme Leader. Which is always a good thing. Plus, even if he is completely loyal to the current regime, these protests have significantly weakened the mullahs domestically.
@3 warmi: “. . we should stay out of it … it is not our problem.”
So we wait until it is our problem? Then what?
“So we wait until it is our problem? Then what?”
Why would it ?
Do you seriously think Iran in gearing up for an invasion of America ?
An attack on Israel would make Iran our problem.
