Now that I think about it, a McCain/Giuliani ticket might be the first Republican ticket without any actual Republicans on it.
Now that I think about it, a McCain/Giuliani ticket might be the first Republican ticket without any actual Republicans on it.
Now that it seems to be moving that way, who will you vote for come the election? For that matter, does it pay for Republicans to pull behind Romney–who doesn’t have what you might consider impeccable conservative record–in hope of thwarting the McCain/Rudy ticket?
Because I’m feeling awfully conflicted right now.
Well, that depends on what your definition of “Republican” is.
I am an unrepentant Rudy fan. I was hoping for Giuliani/Thompson, or vice versa.
But alas, I must move on….
A McCain fan, I am not. I’ve been slowly warming to Romney.
But I’ll accept McCain if it comes down to it. McCain/Giuliani vs Obama/McClinton is a no brainer for me. I’d expect McClain would maintain the status quo for 4 years until Giuliani earns some cred and can step in and clean up.
But Romney/McThompson sounds OK too….
The media picks Republican candidates that make it easier for them to elect Democrats. You honestly didn’t know your vote counts for about 1/500,000 of George Soros’?!
Looking back, I think Fred was the only actual Republican even running.
Mitt McThompsonani for President
Ouch.
Stephen :
McCain is nuts………but he’s not crazy enough to have rooty as VP…….fact : hardly anyone wanted / wants rooty ( reference the primaries )…….why in the world would they want him to be a heartbeat away from the presidency ? , especially at McCain’s age , health , etc………what on earth could rooty bring to a ticket that McCain does not already have ? Delegates ?..strong on national defense ?….of course not , he needs someone percieved as very conservative and hopefully strong on economics , that ain’t rooty…………with all his personal baggage , more liberal views rooty is useless to McCain beyond some primary votes……..he may use him for Attorney general in reward……….now that is a frightening thought…….
he needs someone percieved as very conservative and hopefully strong on economics
And young & healthy, given McCain’s age. And a draw in the “blue” states, and in the Northeast.
Think him & Romney could patch things up?
Me, I’m voting Calvin-Hobbes.
Romney sure has shown himself to be ” flexible ” when it comes to core issues so it could come to be that he would be interested ……….
anyway a lot of their policy differences are more sharply defined for political effect……indeed , to be vice pres. under McCain , with mac’s age and health , might hold a large future ………..
Would McCain swallow the old critisims to win ? yes ……but he can find as good as mitt elsewhere…….when and if Mitt goes down , he’s not taking delegates back home , they’ll go to McCain……btw , I am a hard core democrat .
I swear to GOD that if my choice is between Clinton or McCain that come election day I will stay home… errr well probably not since there’s other issues on the ballot… But I won’t be checking the box on either of those monkeys.
Steve Ducharme:
Staying home doesn’t bother them. If you’re not gonna vote, why should they care what you think?
Leaving the top line blank clearly communicates that you think they both suck, but doesn’t tell them why you think that.
Voting for a third party candidate actually tells them something – it indicates a direction they could shift to get more votes.
Don’t leave t blank… write in Thompson. Who says just because he dropped out you can’t vote for him anyway. I know a bunch of people in FL who wrote him in Tuesday and his vote tally wasn’t reported. Let these “establishment” repubs know who you want, not who you’ll settle for.
