Debate Drunkblogging — The Wrap!
So. Let’s look at the horse race.
Giuliani needed to score big hits against both McCain and Romney to reestablish himself as the frontrunner in Florida. Instead, he squandered his opportunities trying to score points against Hillary Clinton. And that’s so November ’07. So Rudy lost tonight.
Romney needed to be solid enough to keep McCain from sealing the deal tonight. He was solid, but was it enough? We won’t know until Super Duper Tuesday next month.
McCain needed to look and sound like a frontrunner. As a guy who would rather take a ball-peen hammer to his own knuckles than vote for McCain, I’m forced to admit that he did just that. For any other candidate, that would be a draw. But in McCain’s position, a draw is a win.
Also, Huckabee and Paul showed up, and neither one sprouted visible devil horns. That’s a win for their shrinking throngs of supporters — and a big Zero for each nutty candidate.
Me, I cut short a fine dinner and wasn’t able to see my baby off to bed, just so I could comment on tonight’s hostilities. That’s a big loss for one drunken pundit.

Thanks again for your sacrifice.
I missed it all for a ho-hum business dinner.
But your play-by-play reporting and wrap up tell me all I need to know.
Now that he’s gone, I sure do miss Fred.
Whoa Stephen….bad form on Romney! Anytime a man uses phallic language to describe another man he only ends up looking like a tiny little prick.
To most women I know, Mitt Romney is very handsome who looks like Matthew Fox’s, of TV’s “Lost” fame, his older, more distinguished, successful, smarter brother.
Also, handsome sure runs in Mitt’s campaign…just watched Kevin Madden on MSNBC spinning for Romney…..Wow that is a fine looking man too!
Anyway on substance Mitt won. I liked a lot of what Rudy said but he seemed to have a bit of what ailed Fred’s campaign…..listlessness.
McCain didn’t have any major gaffe’s but it’s pretty bad to have someone recite back to you that your own mother thinks others will have to hold their noses to vote for you in front of potential voters.
Feh on the debates. See your kid to bed, it is much more important.
Out of all the candidates in both parties, including fringe ones, still in the race, I could tolerate Rudy, and be only somewhat nauseous at Mitt & McCain.
I no longer even want to do a protest vote and vote Libertarian. Not going to squander my vote on the ostrich party.
I missed the debate, so now I will read your drunkblogging of it, so I can learn what happened.
Romney definitely has that gay Superman thing going for him.
