I always thought that Seuss was a Communist, and his children’s books thinly veiled attempts at indoctrination.
Am I remembering this correctly, or am I having one of my blonde moments?
Maybe you could be anti-nazi and still a communist during WWII. Fterall, there was a “communist resistance” to Hitler…
hmmm… maybe I’m getting the 2 mixed up since the lingo lately is practically interchangable.
If you want to spend about $40, you can also see some of Dr Seuss’ pro-war leanings on Vol. III of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection, as the writer of a Private Snafu cartoon done for the U.S. Army and directed by Chuck Jones.
I’m pretty sure our need to get into war during Dr. Seuss’ time was quite a bit different than today. I’d hardly call him a warmonger!
