Want to know what to do with those East Coast ports that are up for sale? How about letting the Danes run them?
Want to know what to do with those East Coast ports that are up for sale? How about letting the Danes run them?
The linked article says Denmark, not Netherlands.
I’ve got a simpler solution if you don’t want DP World to buy P&O: outbid them.
But I guess that’s too shockingly capitalist.
“Until you stop paying the Danegeld, you’ll never get rid of the Dane.”
How about letting the Americans run them?
Obviously, some things are “shockingly capitalist,” or, more accurately, ‘suicide capitalism.’ Suppose Kim Jong Il made the best and cheapest computer monitoring devices in the world. Should our military use him as our supplier?
Suppose Osama bin Laden made the world’s best and cheapest benign influenza strains for research. Should we buy them from him? “Opps, I thought you ordered the lethal kind. Simple clerical error.”
Capitalism isn’t a positive good in its own right, in fact it’s neutral. It’s merely the most efficient economic system out there. Which is great if efficiency is the most important consideration. Usually it is, sometimes it isn’t.
Sheesh…what would the reaction be if the French wanted to run them?
