For those who asked, yes, I will be liveblogging Bush’s speech Thursday night.
And, yes, like Kerry’s speech last month, I’ll be doing it with at least a couple martinis in me.

Make mine a bourbon and we’ll enjoy your posts as always! Love your site – just found it 3 weeks ago via TCS. Keep up the great work and site. ms

Not those phoney ones like Cosmopolitans. I mean gin/vodka-vermouth and assorted additives; olives, onion, a twist, a dash of bitters, etc., etc., etc.
Ever try a Blenton?

P.S. After my first divorce, c. ’84, one of my pass-times was to spend Saturday afternoons at Bennigans on Academy, having M&Ms (Martinis and Mushrooms) while reading a book.
P.P.S. By the way, have you ever tried a good gin & vermouth martini as a means of washing down Pomery mustard on Wheat Thins?
If you’re interested, I’ve hacked the recipe for Pomery. So instead of $12 for a small crock you can do it yourself for the cost of a cup of brown mustard seed (whole) and some other odds and ends.
If you’ve got that one covered, then I’ll probably liveblog his farewell speech in January of 2009.
Hopefully not from an aircraft maintenance shed while Condi and Rudy are being inagurated.
I’ll be there with you on both fronts!
The Mexican Martini’s will be mixed at my place, so I think we’ll have this speech well-covered.
I know it’s too late, but I’d like to read your liveblogging of the Bush or Kerry daughters’ speeches while you’ve got a couple martinis in you.
