The last few days, Norton is finding more and more virus-infected emails coming my way.
Is there some new nasty on the loose? Part of an Iraqi cyberwar campaign? Or am I just making lots of new friends?
Haven’t noticed any email viruses, but that miserable, nasty respiratory one you had a few weeks ago has made its way to Kansas. Blech!
Dixie-Flatline has gotten a few “tainted” emails as well… I’d say you made yourself unpopular with some folks who have a rather difficult time wiht reasoned debate, but excel at crying and throwing tantrums (and virii, too).
I tend to see viral emails when I post my opinion accompanied by my real email address. Guess some people can’t handle having their oppinions challenged. Fortunately my delete key still works.
I use a yahoo maildrop when commenting instead or my private email address. I have noticed email virus peaks after controversial comments. Since I use the maildrop only for correspondance generated from blog commenting, I set the drop to text only and since I expect no messages with attachments, I delete unopened any that contain them.
The downside (a little off topic) is that I get incredible amounts of spam. I don’t bother with filters like I do on my private email, so I can end up deleting 50 spam emails a day easily.
Haven’t noticed the emails yet, but I noticed a few “warblogs” have been hacked or DoS’d:
1) LT Smash, and
2) Cold Fury
to name two.
I’ve been receiving a fair share of virus-infected e-mail, though recently with the advent of war, it has begun to increase to at least one or 2 being received almost daily — along with a lot of unwanted pr0n spam.
Between Norton Antivirus and IHateSpam, my computer is definitely getting a workout.
LT Smash’s DOS could have been honest-to-goodness server overload with the mainstream mention today.
I don’t receive virus-laden e-mails,although I can pass on some really great savings on office products if anyone is interested.
Re: LT Smash – The comments section for His eulogy to LCDR Allen has been hacked in a manner that pukes an anti-war dialog box when clicked.
I’m sure he’s aware by now, but might appreciate some help on how to avoid this in the future
I’ve received a slew of virus-y emails, too. Can’t remember where I read it, but yes, there’s some Iraq-oriented email virus going around. One of them purports to send spy satellite photos of Iraq showing weapons dumps. Its author was arrested yesterday in Sweden, I believe.
I meant LT Allen, not LCDR, could you please fix and delete this admin post?
Readers are just sending you gifts of love…
I haven’t noticed more viruses, but my mail server has had a sharp increase in the number of attempt to relay spam. I used to get 5-8 relay attempts per week. In the last few day’s I’ve had 40-50 a day.
