Of local (to me) and national (to Republicans) interest, NRO’s Andrew Busch handicaps the Allard/Strickland senate race here in Colorado.
Just based on my gut and watching the race, I think Allard will pull this one out. But notice, please, I’m not endorsing his candidacy. Neither man is much to my liking.

Well, let’s see. According to the campaign ads, Strickland is a lackey of corrupt business interests. One of the biggest whores you’ll ever see. Allard, on the other hand, hates children, old people, and (I think I heard this right) puppies.
The only good ad is the one where Ben Nighhorse Campbell comes on and says, “Hey, Wayne’s a good guy. Vote for him.”
Would that the whole campaign had been that positive. It would have been no less vacuous either way.
Strickland’s Idiotarian streak came out recently however in his silly comment about America’s “real” enemies.
The real enemy we have is not a particular terrorist group or a particular extremist philosophy. It’s the hopelessness and despair that so many people around the world feel. We’ve got to be a partner with the rest of the world in addressing those concerns with other nations
Allard is the more adult of the two.
