Friday Recipe

Harry Potter proved immensely enjoyable, and that has nothing to do with the second bottle of wine we drank while watching it and eating dinner.
Which leads me (food and wine going together) to a new feature we’ll call the Friday Recipe. Here I drop out of VP Mode, and will share with you something Melissa or I cooked during the week.
Now that the weather is nice, try this on your grill.
Take two tenderloins, cut thick. Two inches — or more — would be perfect.
Slather them on both sides with Worcestershire, Lawry

My contribution to your next foodie event: Frozen Cappucino Cheesecake!
WHAT YOU NEED: 1 1/4 cups chocolate wafer cookie crumbs; 1/4 cup melted margarine; 1/4 cup sugar; 8 oz softened cream cheese; 14 oz sweetened condensed milk; 2/3 cup chocolate flavored syrup; 1 tbs instant coffee; 1 tsp hot water; 1/2 pint whipping cream, whipped; additional cookie crumbs.
WHAT YOU DO: Combine crumbs, margarine, and sugar, press firmly on bottom and sides of 8-inch springform pan. In large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in sweetened condensed milk and chocolate syrup until smooth. In small cup, dissolve coffee in water; add to cheese mixture. Mix well. Fold in whipped cream. Pour into prepared pan; cover and freeze 6-8 hours or overnight. Garnish with additional cookie crumbs.
Steve – next time you grill those steaks, take some asparagus, drizzled with olive oil, and grill along side the steaks – yummy.
I agree that charcoal is better than gas, but nothing holds a match to mesquite wood as far as hot coals and great taste go. It’s all I use, but maybe that’s because it grows on the ranch like weeds. If you must use charcoal and don’t care for the gasoline taste of lighter fluid, try filling an empty egg carton (cardboard, not styrofoam) with charcoal briquettes to start your fire. The carton will light by match or lighter and burn long enough to get the charcoal started…
Great sight. Keep up the good work!
I have GOT to try that asparagas recipe. One of my favorite veggies.
And there’s nothing like mesquite, Mr. Yeats — but I’d go with straight charcoal for this one. But mequite burgers, mmmm.
David MSC, Melissa makes THE best cheesecake, but she doesn’t like coffee. Go figure. Gonna marry her anyway.
