I left Missouri before Ashcroft was elected governor, but I met him a couple times (VERY political family) as a kid while he was AG.
The man is creepy.
Furthermore, he was to the Missouri Republican Party what Wilson was the the California Rep Party.
Wilson DESTROYED the state party, just to improve his reelection chances in ’94. Ashcroft damn near managed the same feat in Missouri.
