Never any good news about these guys.
A US-led raid on the compound housing the Islamic State’s “chief financial officer” produced evidence that Turkish officials directly dealt with ranking ISIS members, Martin Chulov of the Guardian reported recently.
The officer killed in the raid, Islamic State official Abu Sayyaf, was responsible for directing the terror army’s oil and gas operations in Syria. The Islamic State (aka ISIS, ISIL, or Daesh) earns up to $10 million a month selling oil on black markets.
They use social media for recruiting, form strategic international partnerships and seem to overcome whatever setbacks befall them. Throughout all of this, U.S. leaders (loosest use of the term possible) assure us that alienating our allies in the region and using a halfhearted approach to attacking ISIS is the best course possible. The Team Lightbringer approach to foreign policy and war is so simplistic it should be written on a wall in crayon.
At present, Turkey is managing to convince NATO and most of the rest of the world that they are actually battling ISIS.
If you’re wonder just how topsy-turvy the world has become, guess who has long been critical of Turkey and its complicity in the rise of ISIS? Crazy Joe the Wonder Veep.
