Police Have No Evidence of 'Islamophobia' in Student Shootings

Police are unable to find any evidence that the murder of three Muslim students was driven by anti-Muslim sentiment.

The Facebook page of Craig Hicks — the man accused of killing three Muslim college students on Feb. 10 — seems to paint a picture of a person who supports an individual’s right to his own beliefs, even as he clearly despises organized religion.

Hicks shot three Muslim students execution-style last week: Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23; his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21; and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19.

The New York Post reports that  “police said they have yet to uncover any evidence” the students were singled out for the their religion.

Hicks was brazen about his disdain for all faiths. But he was just as passionate about personal liberty — championing an individual’s right to worship or not, legal abortion and gay marriage and, perhaps most fervently, the right to own and bear arms. If he has a creed, it’s the Second Amendment.
