On August 18, 2014, San Diego City Councilman Scott Sherman showed in just five minutes that he communicates basic principles more effectively than any Republican presidential candidate in recent memory.

His brief, unscripted remarks came in support of the mayor’s veto of a Democrat effort to force city businesses to increase their minimum wage to $11.50 per hour.

Sherman, perhaps the only member of council who has “signed the front of a paycheck,” found himself in a two-person minority on the veto-override vote, against six Democrats.

Watch the video below, and then help me to understand why this eminently reasonable position fails to persuade Democrats who say they care about jobs.

Scott Ott co-hosts a news, commentary and humor show called Trifecta on PJTV. He created and hosted the 20-part series on the Constitution titled Freedom's Charter. His satire site, ScrappleFace, spawned three books and praise from Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin and many others.

They'll turn us all into beggars 'cause they're easier to please. They're feeding our people that Government Cheese.

Because jobs isn't what it is about.

For a brief moment of time our high tech world actually delivered video with no problems. Now they jump, juke, jive, stop, show whirly-gigs, not available in your location, error stream and other high tech warfare due to flash and jquery.

Maybe you should supplement this high tech with choice quotes written on papyrus which I can read instantly instead of waiting for overloaded web pages to eat my CPU and do other weird stuff.

Adblock. PJM runs much better when you run Adblock.

I have and it does, but it can only go so far. The Daily Mail makes my CPU run at 100% for 15 to 20 sec. before it loads and I've stopped visiting the HuffPo because it's so slow. On the other hand the equally sophisticated ESPN loads instantly. At the end of the day this is about whether your webmaster has any brains. Sites are using scripts because they can, not because they need to.

If you're running Firefox on Windows, keep your Task Manager active, and when you get to a slow-loading page, open it to 'Processes' and click the 'End Process" button on either 'FlashPlayerPlugin" or "plugin-container". It shuts down all of Adabe's clunky stuff that the system's trying to run, and suddenly everything's moving a lot faster.
