Several IRS officials gave sworn declarations today in federal district court. But their declarations were far from complete, according to Judicial Watch.
The government watchdog is seeking to use the discovery process to get to the bottom of how the lavishly funded agency has managed to “lose” the critical emails of so many figures in the IRS abuse scandal.
IRS officials Aaron G. Signor, John H. Minsek, Stephen L. Manning, Timothy P. Camus, and Thomas J. Kane all provided today’s declarations in the ongoing Judicial Watch v. IRS case.
After today’s declarations, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton delivered a scathing response:
These sworn declarations delivered to the court today were to discuss what happened to Lois Lerner’s “lost” emails and any other computer records reportedly lost by the IRS. This latest IRS filing seems to treat as a joke Judge Sullivan’s order requiring the IRS to produce details about Lois Lerner’s “lost” emails and any efforts to retrieve and produce them to Judicial Watch as required under law. Frankly, it seems the cover-up continues.
According to a statement from Judicial Watch, Judge Sullivan has authorized the group to submit a request for limited discovery to track down the “missing” IRS emails. That request will be expected after September 10.
