Twice in two days, NBC’s David Gregory has now strayed from the left’s mantra on Benghazi. Today on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Gregory connected the attack — in which four Americans died at the hands of terrorists — to policies put in place by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

“The real story about Benghazi is what are the consequences for having a light footprint in a chaotic country post-invasion?” Gregory said. “That’s the ongoing story. And by the way, a story that candidate Clinton if she becomes a candidate will have to face.”

Gregory was not finished. Addressing a point made by National Journal’s Ron Fournier, Gregory added, “We know to Ron’s point that the White House had a political interest in advancing a story about this video really being at the core of all of these protests. Because anything that was spontaneous and happening fast is to their benefit in the situation, opposed to being caught unaware about a terror attack which they didn’t know about. We don’t know. We know they were interested in the politics of this.”

Unfortunately, Gregory went on from there to play along with the White House’s current excuse, that they really believed the tale they were telling: “We didn’t know they were somehow telling any untruth. And we know that the intelligence community was saying, in fact, that this was a spontaneous eruption that in Cairo and then evolved into a direct attack on the consulate. So we know there was an opportunity to sell it. We don’t know what all the facts of this are. But this particular memo, for instance, why did they hold that back? Of course it was related to Benghazi. I think it creates more problems.”

Criminal problems. Withholding subpoenaed documents from Congress is a criminal offense.

And, for the umpteenth time, the attack on the US embassy in Cairo was not spontaneous at all. Islamic Jihad and Al Gamaa Al Islamiyya threatened to attack it on September 10 to obtain the Blind Sheikh’s release from prison in the US. The groups used the YouTube video to generate rage, but the video was not the spark that led to the attacks.

When you've lost David Gregory, no one will notice because no one watches him.

This is the first crack in the NBC Solid Wall, though, I don't know if they've even mentioned Benghazi in the last year on NBC News, MTP, or MSNBC.

"Criminal problems. Withholding subpoenaed documents from Congress is a criminal offense."

For those who might think impeachment would be a lot of effort for little result owing to Obama's lame-duck status, I'd say that impeachment, like any judicial punishment, is as much about discouraging others from misbehavior as punishing the guilty party.
Every president worries about his legacy and his historical reputation; if it is made clear that this sort of slimy behavior in office will destroy a president's good name, then impeachment can make future presidents watch their step. If it is allowed to go unchecked in the name of pragmatism, it will become worse with each administration.

There was ample reason to convict and remove Clinton, too, but Democrats held firm and public opinion was on their side. Obama has the added advantage of fanatical racist black support. Between the two, there would be a heavy political cost, as in 1998. And the lingering effect made the 2000 election close.

It is far more important to seize control of the government to straighten out some of the excesses of the Obama Regime. History will punish Obama more than a failed impeachment could.

.....am not so sure how History will "punish" Obama.

Newly written "History" seems to be more elastic as time goes by. Then also we'll have to be very cautious and skeptical while reading new-think-History, and who exactly it is that we'll be reading, and their "take" on this History, while academia seems so overtly liberal in how it [they] approach partisan subjects.

Gregory is "pandering" to all outside his Leftist base. Why? RATINGS, that's why. Whether it's his idea or his Producers (who are protecting their jobs) is unclear, but the result is the same...he's being "ho'd out" for ratings. The bottom line is they are a news gathering entity so they KNOW what's happening & have figured out that their "spin don't play" in what they call "fly over country", so they will "pander" to get their ratings back. Since Obama is a "lame duck" now they won't hesitate to throw him under the bus if their ratings sink low enough. As a bonus, if Gregory (actually, behind the scenes unpaid interns) continue digging he just might set himself up for a Nobel Prize in Journalism.

So, did Gregory get visited by the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future?

Yeah, I'm getting sick of even the media that ARE reporting repeating the already proven false point that "the intelligence community thought it was related to the video" when the OPPOSITE is true. THAT'S THE POINT! They knew better and ran with it anyway.
