Pelosi: You Can't Measure Obamacare's Success by the Number of People It Insured

What exactly was the point of Obamacare, and how should its success or failure be measured? Questioned Tuesday, Democrat Rep. Nancy Pelosi went zen.

“Madam Leader, isn’t the real measure of success, not the raw number who signed up, but how many of those who signed up were not insured before?” a reporter asked.

Pelosi replied: “No, that’s not — the measure is twofold. The message is how many people have access to health care — quality, affordable health care and insurance.”

The reporter didn’t ask for the “message,” which will obviously be Democrats crowing about success no matter what happens. The reporter asked for a reasonable measure, and Pelosi essentially denied that there is any objective way to measure Obamacare’s success or failure.

Then…why all the “we won” crowing yesterday?

The Daily Mail followed on that crowing. It cites the same RAND study everyone else — except Democrats — is citing. According to the DM, Obamacare actually only signed up about 850,000 who have actually paid their premium.
