When you add liberalism, political correctness, and gun control monomania, you’ll get a toxic combination of absurdity. In the very blue state of Massachusetts, one six-year-old was suspended over a toy gun about the size of a quarter.  Do you hear that? It’s common sense going down the drain.

Jason Howerton at the Blaze wrote on May 29 that:

A 6-year-old kindergarten student in Massachusetts is accused of causing a “disturbance” and “traumatizing” other students by bringing a very tiny plastic toy gun on the school bus last week.

The “gun” brandished by the young boy was barely bigger than a quarter.

The child’s mother, Mieke Crane, told WGGB-TV that school officials at Old Mill Pond Elementary in Palmer, Mass., seriously overreacted after another student saw the toy and told the bus driver on Friday.

The driver said the 6-year-old “caused quite a disturbance” and left other children “traumatized,” according to Crane.

The student has written an apology note to the bus driver, but Howerton noted this isn’t an isolated incident.

In April, The Blaze first reported that a New York father had his pistol license revoked after his son and two of his classmates talked about going to a boy’s house with a water gun, “paint gun” and a BB gun. School officials called police and apparently felt they had enough cause to revoke John Mayer’s handgun license.

In March, a 7-year-old boy was suspended from school for chewing a breakfast pastry into a shape that somewhat resembled a gun. The boy maintained he didn’t mean to make his food look like a gun.

In January, a Philadelphia fifth-grader was scolded and even searched in front of her entire class for pulling out a piece of paper that was torn into a gun-like shape. A school administrator reportedly yelled at her while other students called her a “murderer.”

Also in January, a 5-year-old girl was suspended for ten days and reportedly labeled a “terrorist threat” for threatening to shoot her friend with a toy bubble gun.

And the list goes on and on.

With crackdowns on toy soldiers on cupcakes, Pop Tart guns, and toy bubble guns, when does this madness stop?

It will not stop because it is done on purpose.
Pavlov's dogs need time to acquire desired conditioned reflexes. The same is being done here. Eventually (probably, very soon), this generation of kids will be irrationally terrified of the very thought of a gun, which is the whole point of this so called "madness".

We keep laughing at the stupidity and/or insanity of this, but they will have the last laugh once our 2A rights are simply brushed away by this coming generation of brainwashed voters.

Zero tolerance policies are the current name for Thought Crime. A child showing the wrong thoughts is treated as a criminal, ridiculed in class by the teacher, called names by the other students, and removed from the class until their mind is right. It is a "two minute hate".

My opinion: This is child abuse under the color of office. When will parents realize that these are sadistic displays of power against children? There is no judgment or mercy in these officials which stop them from imposing cruel and sudden mental anguish upon the children in their care. What child is safe from emotional abuse under such management?

Parents would demostrate in crowds if their schools failed to promote entire classes of their children. In a different sense, their schools are indeed failing entire classes of children. Where is the demostration of anger? Why are such teachers, principals, and school boards allowed to keep their power and position?

The idea of Thought Crime and the "two minute hate" was explained in George Orwell's novel "1984" published in 1949. It is a fictional warning about a future under complete government control. The novel was informed by Orwell's experiences in the British Communist party. He awoke to write a warning.

Wags have noted that "1984" was a warning, but Progressives have used it as an instruction manual.

this is, at least in part, a result of the idiotic, and grammatically suspect, Zero Tolerance policies that evolved because parents didn't hold their kids accountable for their actions. a mobius strip of idiocy which can not end until someone, somewhere says,"ENOUGH!" and a little common sense is again allowed and responsibility taken.

Meanwhile, our enemies are teaching their kids how to use knives and AK-47s.

This is the line in the sand that needs to be drawn. Parents need to stop assuming that the schools know best and go down and get in their face over this.

I saw a cloud that looked like a gun. When I was revived, thankfully it was gone. For a minute there I thought my number was up and the Horns of Gabriel were blowing for me.
