Starting last week, MSNBC talker Melissa Harris-Perry caused a stir for this “Lean Forward” all your kids are belong to us ad on MSNBC. It’s as radical and anti-parenting an ad as has ever run on a major cable news network, or even MSNBC.

In the ad, Harris-Perry calls for “breaking through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents.” Instead, she says, we should “recognize that kids belong to whole communities.” She is setting up a choice, and then siding with the state against parents, and urging viewers to do the same.

Today, she broke her silence on the ad and in her own words, doubles down. After claiming to have come to the belief that parents have no inherent rights because her mom volunteered, George W. Bush believed no child should be left behind, and because pro-lifers believe in the right to life, Harris-Perry tosses down the race card. Of course. No political argument is complete until we have that. “Shut up, stupid racist!” she explained.

So those of you who were alarmed by the ad can relax. I have no designs on taking your children. Please keep your kids! But I understand the fear.

We do live in a nation where slaveholders took the infants from the arms of my foremothers and sold them for their own profit. We do live in a nation where the government snatched American Indian children from their families and “re-educated” them by forbidding them to speak their language and practice their traditions.

But that is not what I was talking about, and you know it.

No, she was talking about the Marxist intent to destroy the family, along with the church, as the last but most powerful impediments to implementing full state control over our lives. Her ad was not the benign call to community that she is now making it out to be. It’s a radical attack on the foundation of our society and way of life.

And Professor Melissa Harris-Perry knows it.

On approximately March 23, 2013, Ms. Harris-Perry also doesn't believe that the unborn aren't human; they're things and very expensive to turn to humans.
She has strange view of people-before we're born, we're not human, but after birth, we belong to the community and not the mother that carried the child or the father that assisted via impregnating the mother.

Ohai, "Professor" Harris-Perry. Your "community" will get my child...over my dead body.

If a prog pig publicly purports to think poorly of re-education, then one would be obliged to assume that everything else she says is a lie, too.

We have let the government "help" us feed, clothe, house, and educate our children for over a century. By virtue of its participation in the upbringing of our children, people like Harris-Perry believe the government has at least partial ownership of our children.

It's the same attitude that informs "You didn't build that." Anything you do that involves the government, not matter how remotely, gives the government a claim on the results.

It's like taxation. We think it means "Let's give the government some money so the government can do something for us." To the statist (Harris-Perry), it means "We do something for you, so you owe us money."

Nothing is free and the government is not always your friend.

Government is never your friend. It exists in a wrld where there is only servant and master -- and if it is not your servant, what else can it be?

As Instapundit has pointed out, sending your children to public school borders on child abuse.
This is taking 'our children are our countries future' to it's most perverse conclusion.

When Ms. Harris-Perry says, "community" what she means is "collective". She believes that the collective should have greater influence on children than any individual parent. Nice try. While we are certainly influenced by many people and things as we grow the lasting impression, for better or worse, is our parents. Harris-Perry has stated that she doesn't consider herself to be bi-racial, she considers herself to be black only. In doing so she dismisses her own white mother and downplays her mother's influence upon herself. Rather telling I think.

More Agenda 21 propaganda. This kind of thinking gives single-mothers more assurance that the state will raise their children. Who needs a dad when your have daddy barack.

Funny - but it seems her defense makes the argument against her position that parents don't know what is in their children's best interest?

Anyone besides me notice that the left-wing pundits seem to have gone more loony post-election?
