Missouri Dems File Bill to Confiscate 'Assault Weapons'

Many Democrats say that their ultimate gun control goal is not confiscation of firearms. At least some of them are lying.

Any person who, prior to the effective date of this law, was legally in possession of an assault weapon or large capacity magazine shall have ninety days from such effective date to do any of the following without being subject to prosecution.

Both of the terms used — assault weapons and large-capacity magazine — are malleable and subject to politicians’ whims. Today’s semiauto pistol with a 10-round magazine could be tomorrow’s large-capacity assault weapon.

Republicans control both houses of Missouri’s assembly, by huge margins — 24-10 in the Senate and 109-52 in the House — so this bill will go nowhere. But the fact that the Democrats filed it says quite a lot.
