NRA: Obama's Gun Policies Will Lead to Confiscation

While his majesty Barack I was speaking in the tongues of the incoherent Tuesday night, the National Rifle Association was attempting to sound warning about the god-king’s gun policies.

The National Rifle Association will assert that President Barack Obama’s attempt to enact new gun control laws will result in the “confiscation” of people’s firearms in a new web video scheduled to run in five states and the District of Columbia. The video will go online around the time Obama begins delivering his State of the Union address, in which he is expected to mention his effort to reduce gun violence through legislative means.

Here is the NRA’s video.

It focuses on internal Department of Justice memos that admit that renewing the assault weapons ban is not likely to have any effect on crime (which is still down overall, by the way). The DoJ opines that none of the president’s initiatives will work without “mandatory gun buybacks” — confiscation, in other words. To that, the NRA adds that the only way to make Obama’s “universal background check” work would be to register and track all firearms in the United States. Presently, gun purchasers who buy at licensed retail and resale markets must undergo background checks, but sales between individuals are exempt.  Requiring all American gun owners to register their firearms amounts to an illegal invasion of privacy.
