The hacktivist group Anonymous apparently disapproves of Israel’s efforts to defend itself from the Hamas barrage of rockets that have rained down on innocent civilians the last few months. Either that, or they approve of targeting civilians by terrorists.
Hard to say with these folks. They have an eccentric sense of morality and justice — sort of like teenagers, which, of course, is about their level of emotional development.
At any rate, Anonymous hackers have attacked hundreds of Israeli websites causing mischief as well as real damage to government and private sites alike.
When the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) this week began taking military action in the Gaza strip against Hamas (as the IDF announced on Twitter), Anonymous declared its own war as part of #OpIsrael. Among the casualties are thousands of email addresses and passwords, hundreds of Israeli Web sites, government-owned as well as privately owned pages, as well as databases belonging to Bank Jerusalem and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
While the hacktivist group doesn’t appear to be anywhere near satisfied yet, the YourAnonNews account, which has over 686,000 followers, did just send out this message:
Israel, all your base are belong to us.
If that’s not a declaration of success, I don’t know what is. There have so far been hundreds of takedowns of sites by Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks; one Pastebin trying to list them all includes 659 Web sites. Not all of them are still down, but some are, and others are still defaced.
Another AnonPaste includes 2,004 email addresses, the majority of which appear to have corresponding passwords, allegedly stolen from an MySQL database belonging to dirotmodiin.co.il, a site for finding real estate in Israel. Many of them are hosted on Israeli domains, but there are also the usual Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo accounts.
Yet as already mentioned, we’re talking about more than just DDoS attacks that are overloading Web sites, such as tel-aviv.gov.il, the municipal site for the second most populous city in Israel (after Jerusalem). There are also plenty of defacements, and, as of a few minutes ago, databases have also been wiped.
Prior to Israel’s air strikes against Hamas which began on Wednesday, more than 850 rockets had been launched from Gaza into Israel this year by terrorists seeking to kill innocent civilians. In the 48 hours leading up to the attacks on Gaza, more than 200 rockets alone were fired.
Nice company you’re keeping there, Anonymous.

The alliance between the leftists and the islamists is a monster of history but it is solidly founded in the totalitarian frame of mind.
The sleep of reason produces monsters, once more.
PS
Just a quick reminder for the Readers who have not been helped by their school: Benito Mussolini, before being the founder of the fascist movement, had been the editor in chief of the socialist newspaper (“Avanti !”).
You’re correct Zangpo on Mussolini. I may add that his father, Alessandro, was an international Socialist, down to the core of his being. He had a great influence on Benito. His father named him Benito after the Mexican revolutionary, Benito Juarez.
It is very dangerous to presume that someone created an alliance between the Left and the Muslims. Of course there was a strategic partnership between Soviet Union and the Arab countries, but it was provoked by the bipolar schism of the international politics. I think that violent conflict can not really resolve any important question. Or should Americans attack Canada, because of the The Increasing Trend of U.S. Immigration to Canada? Or Mexico, because of the immigration from there? There need to be peace and dialogue between both Palestinians and Israelis. And it can not be achieved by promoting hate and dividing them ideologically or religiously. They need to find what they have in common, not what they don´t share.
The only reason Fascism as a generic political system is called “right wing” these days is because Stalin said so in 1942 following Germany’s invasion of the Soviet Union. Thereafter all socialists and communist fellow travelers, including most college professors and today’s MSM adopted that line. In fact, Fascism in all of its forms is a distinctly left-wing totalitarian form of government, and is to the “right” of the Communists merely because it does not mandate total government ownership of all means of production. The Nazis and the Arabs were fast friends, back in the day.
“Prior to Israel’s air strikes against Hamas which began on Wednesday, more than 850 rockets had been launched from Gaza into Israel this year by terrorists seeking to kill innocent civilians. In the 48 hours leading up to the attacks on Gaza, more than 200 rockets alone were fired.”
And prior to the rockets are 50 years of abuse and murder of Palestinians by the Israeli military. Looking at the UN OCHA office we find that between 2000 and 2007 4 Palestinians were murdered by Israeli forces for every 1 Israeli murdered by Palestinian forces:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=13&cad=rja&ved=0CHYQFjAM&url=http%3A%2F%2Fimeu.net%2Fengine2%2Fuploads%2F2%2Fisraeli-palestinian-fatalities-since-2000-ocha-2007.pdf&ei=s9enUKv3B8vxigK_6ID4DQ&usg=AFQjCNFO934OysCU7PaE9hf2BF1qxcjHcA
And that’s the conservative estimate. Looking at IDF and red cross numbers the amount ration is over 6 to 1:
http://journalism.berkeley.edu/projects/arccrisis/ispal-casualty.html
(same time frame)
But of course you consider the Israeli’s the ones being attacked, and look back just far enough to see some act by the Palestinians that “started it all.” You don’t however look back past that to the atrocity by Israelis led to the action that started it all, or all the way back to the actual start of the conflict which was the invasion of Arab lands by displaced Jews and the terrorist campaigns of the early Zionists against both the British administrators and the native Arab populace.
Both sides are wrong and evil in the conflict, please stop pretending (and propagandizing) that the Israelis are somehow any better morally than the Palestinians. They aren’t.
Oh look! Someone actually cites numbers from the UN!
hahahahahahahar!!
1. Not all deaths and killings are ‘murder’.
Defending yourself reasonably is not ‘murder’.
2. One reason so many more Palestinian Arabs die than Israelis is because the Israelis have the best emergency medical serices in the world; bar none. We Americans send hospital teams to Israel to learn from thhem.
On the other hand, many Palestinian Arab deaths are actually the result of Arab-on-Arab killings. A too brief explanation: being killed in an act of ‘resistence’ (attacking Israelis) will not trigger any further revenge-killings (blood feud). So one palestinian Arab can kill another and contain the violence if he is killed attacking Israelis.
There are many other reasons and causes for the differential in deaths between the two groups other than Israeli perfidity. For example, it’s hard to call a suicide-bomber a victim of murder.
In short; you demonsrate ignorance of both Israeli and Arab culture and values.
When one side declares genocide against the other, and other side does not, they are not morally equivalent.
So your belief in Palestinian innocence is based on them being incompetent?
“In fact, Fascism in all of its forms is a distinctly left-wing totalitarian form of government, and is to the “right” of the Communists merely because it does not mandate total government ownership of all means of production. The Nazis and the Arabs were fast friends, back in the day.”
And as we all know Nazis and Communists were the best of pals.
::eye-roll::
Seriously, you can’t see how fascism is right wing? It’s violently nationalistic, it’s extremely pro-business, in fact the simplest definition of Fascism is collusion between business and government or control of government by business interests. It’s usually themed with religious overtones, and it’s almost always based on hatred of outsiders or those who are different. That’s all on the right.
Communism on the other hand is anti-religious, collectivist, anti-business, and anti-nationalist. That’s on the left.
Both left and right have offshoots that are abhorrent, and the best way to fall into them is to pretend that all evil philosophies exist only on the other side.
Do you even know what the word “Nazi” means?
::duh::
Was the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), a democracy?
::duh::^2
Are you a tool?
No? Then stop believing Stalin’s lies.
“Seriously, you can’t see how fascism is right wing?”
No.
Because it’s not. The person who declared fascism “right wing” was Stalin. If your political perspective is from the point of view of Stalin, you have a problem.
Before he attacked Russia, Hitler was Stalin’s good friend, and the international communist movement was intent on keeping everyone out of war with Hitler. Why? Because the National SOCIALIST WORKER’S PARTY was as totalitarian and socialist as the communists. Hitler was the darling of the “Progressives” both for his economic policies and for his eugenics policies. After Hitler attacked the Soviets, Stalin changed his rhetoric — declaring the Nazis “right deviationists” from “true communism”. His useful idiots, fellow travelers and hired traitors echoed his propaganda, and continue to do so down to this very day.
(And, seriously, you should dig into the history of the Soviet purges and their internal policies towards minorities. The differences between them and the Nazis is that the Soviets had better press.)
