Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey finds himself at the center of a scandal today, less than a week before the Nov. 6 elections. According to two women in the Dominican Republic who spoke with the Daily Caller, Menendez agreed to pay them each $500 for sex, before paying only 20% of what he had agreed to pay them. They say that the incident occurred earlier this year.
In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000 acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100.
The women spoke through a translator in the company of their attorney, Melanio Figueroa. Both asked that their identities remain obscured for fear of reprisals in the Dominican Republic.
When shown a photograph of Sen. Menendez, the women said they recognized him as the man with whom they’d had sexual relations at Casa de Campo this spring. Both said they were brought to the resort with the understanding they would be paid for sex.
Neither knew the identity of the man at the time. Both claimed to recognize him later as Sen. Menendez.
“He called him[self] ‘Bob,’” said one.
On at least one occasion, according to a news account, Menendez has been a guest at the Casa de Campo home of a friend and campaign donor named Salomon Melgen, an ophthalmologist and owner of an eye clinic in Florida.
Melgen has donated $14,700 to Menendez’s campaigns since 1993, with the bulk of it coming since he became a U.S. Senator, according to Federal Election Commission data collected by the Center for Responsive
Politics.
Melgen also appears to have lent Menendez the use of his plane on several occasions.
The 58-year-old Menendez’s campaign responded to the DC via email: “We’re not going to respond to a completely false accusation.”
Menendez is up for re-election on Nov. 6. He holds a large lead over Republican challenger Joseph Kyrillos.
Back in April, Sen. Menendez said that Secret Service agents caught in the Colombian prostitution scandal ought to be fired.

Political reality. Let them boink you and you get a fraction of what was promised for it.
I guess he thought he was entitled to government rates.
Sorry, I cannot get outraged over things like this anymore as pretty much everyone on Captiol Hill does likewise. Waitress sandwich anyone? Toe tapping in the bathroom stalls? All this shows is that all pols deserve two terms; one in office and one in prison!
“Menendez agreed to pay them each $500 for sex, before paying only 20% of what he had agreed to pay them.”
Menendez broke the first rule of patronizing a hooker: Never, never, never argue over the price. Pay what she says and move on, or forward, or forward! . . . or something.
“We’re not going to respond to a completely false accusation.”
Translation: While we won’t respond to false accusations, we know this one is true, so instead we’ll just ignore it because we know the MSM has us covered.
I was going with the “Menendez’s actual crime was shipping jobs for American hookers overseas”
I wonder whether this will cost him the prostitute vote.
It’s New Jersey.
Think: Corzine. Jim McGreevey, the little homo governor who came out while in office. The list goes on.
These people are not whom you think they are.
In other words, this is a huge nothing-burger. It will never rise above the average, common, daily New Jersey stank.
Impressive.
Joe Kyrillos wasn’t even on the map. The Daily Caller just got the GOP another almost guaranteed seat. Republicans could now hit 56 Senate seats, a pickup of 9 with Angus King of Maine caucusing with the winning side.
The only reason Menendez keeps his seat is because the DC article came out a week too late.

They say Menendez shorted them.
No doubt, in more ways than one, Bryan.
Those gals shouldn’t complain too hard. We get the same treatment from these jokers and don’t get paid a thing.
No kidding.
– not as I pay.”
The Senator didn’t refuse to pay, he simply withheld 80% as income tax. It’s what Democrats do…
This isn’t a problem for the Senator. As a Democrat, he is expected to be some form of sexual predator.
