You really got the meter of the song absolutely PERFECT with these satirical lyrics. Not easy to do. It’s such a beautiful waltz, and I’ve always wondered why every top-40 version of Baubles Bangles and Beads ruined it by changing it to 4/4 time. Warms the cockles of my heart to see someone restore the classic melody…especially with hilarious and very timely new rhymes!
I just noticed that you even reversed “binders Big Bird” in the final line so to match the original waltz syncopation, which wouldn’t have scanned right if you had left it “Big Bird binders.” Wow. I AM impressed. You should have been a professional lyricist. Bravo.
You forgot “Buh-bye” and “bedknobs and ballyhoo”
