Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) has a new fundraising drive needling Republicans who withdrew financial support from his campaign after his “legitimate rape” comment.
Akin resisted calls to drop out of the race in August. According to his most recent FEC filing, he’s raised about $1.6 million since then.
His latest pitch to donors features Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, Karl Rove, and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (R-Texas) wearing photoshopped “Claire 2012″ buttons.
“Do they want her to win?” says the pitch, in reference to incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.).
“Karl Rove’s groups, American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS, have combined to spend almost $4 million in Virginia, where virtually every poll has shown Democrat Tim Kaine leading, by as much as 7 points,” says the Akin mailer. “The NRSC and Rove’s groups have combined to spend an estimated $5.7 million in Wisconsin, where Democrat Tammy Baldwin continues to widen her lead against Republican Tommy Thompson, an early supporter of the individual mandate.”
“Meanwhile, none of them will invest a dime right here in Missouri, where the latest poll shows Todd LEADING Claire McCaskill – a top ally of President Obama who cast the deciding vote for Obamacare, who has voted for $7 trillion in new debt, and who has personally enriched herself to the tune of $40 million in taxpayer money since being elected!” it continues. “So it’s worth asking the question again – do the DC Party Bosses WANT Claire McCaskill to win?”
Perry Akin, campaign manager and son of the congressman, urges supporters to “keep on disrupting the party bosses’ ‘business model!’”
McCaskill leads by 6 points in the latest Rasmussen Reports poll and also by 6 points in the latest Public Policy Polling survey.

I honestly can’t decide who I loathe the most, Akin or McCaskill. Both are so thoroughly despicable. But this “DC party bosses” schtick of Akin’s offends me. Here he is , refusing to withdraw from a race any fool could see he could never hope to win thanks to his own egregious stupidity, and his brilliant notion is to do a rehashed Huey P Long imitation. The voters are wondering if there’s even going to be a USA for their children (economic collapse, mass terrorism, the open destruction of the Constitution or at least its rendering into a dead letter, any number of apocalyptic scenarios) , and Akin is channeling ancient populists . Can he make his contempt for the intelligence of MO voters any more blatant? Whoever wins this race (and it’s a virtual certainty it will be McCaskill, and that is the fault SOLELY of stupid, ignorant, loudmouth Akin AND NO OTHER PERSON ONE OR NO ENTITY ) Missouri loses, and so will the USA.
Hopefully Akin will lose by so low a percentage that McCaskill will keep her head low until the next election , and we can ditch the #$@&* in favor of someone with an IQ in triple digits.
Concern troll is concerned.
Concern troll is also angry.
My gut-instinct–Akin wins, with many thinking “we get rid of the Dem, then vote this sorry SOB out six years from now. How much harm can he do in the meantime (unlike the Dem)?”
Either way we lose.
But really, the whole Republican party in Missouri is a joke.
Both PPP and Rasmussen may be useless in trying to call this one. Both are polling head to head but there is also a Libertarian on the ballot. When you have two candidates with these high of negatives and voters see a third option on the ballot I’d expect to see many more than usual opt for the third party as a way to protest the poor major party candidates.
Hopefully the good voters of Missouri will hold their collective noses and vote for the lesser of two evils.
I think Akin is an idiot – but he’s a frickin genius compared to McCaskill.
As another noted, they have a chance to lessen the damage being done, get McCaskill out, put Akin in for minimum 6 years – and then if he proves to remain an idiot then they can replace him.
The only certainty in this is that Akin is, regardless of any other fact, less n liability to the state and the entire country in the meantime.
may God bless our conservative champion todd akin. you already have our gratitude and support (akin.org) for standing up for life and women for that matter. we can win even if you’re outspent 10 to 1. in fact i’m writing another check. God’s speed to a good, God fearing man.
“Akin Needles GOPs Who Pulled Funding: ‘Do They Want Claire to Win?’”
No, they wanted a Republican who could re-state the platform on abortion without f**king up royally to be the one running. That leaves Akin out.
Well, they didn’t get what they wanted. Now, do they hold their noses and do the pragmatic thing (help Akin) or do they let the Democrat win out of spite? In other words, are they willing to cut off their noses to spite their face? If so, they should be replaced.
I think that to a desperate degree you don’t get it. Being seen publicly to help Akin hurts most other R tickets, and if it hurts them by 1-2% it guarantees a Dem Senate. In the marginal races that will decide Senate control, it most likely will make the difference. We just have to hope Akin’s stupidity doesn’t accomplish that anyway, and that he also wins.
You forgot to mention Claire-bear’ little tax problem… you know a felony.
You also forgot to mention that Claire-bear took a little trip to Crazifornia. A fund raising trip. When obumma gets his comeuppance Claire-bear will become Crazifornia’ 3rd senator from the Missouri District.
Anybody that wants anything other than seeing Claire-bear tossed out on her felonious @$$ has mental problems of their own. As for the Republican-rino political bosses in this state… I for one would not mind seeing them floating down the Mississippi and off into the golf. And I wouldn’t care what condition they were in while floating away. With any luck Rove and Boehner can follow them out to the gulf.
I haven’t seen it verified, but I’m assuming this is like what Republicans did in Michigan a while back when they voted for Jack Kevorkian for governor or Senator, forget which (and in SC two years ago with the homeless guy). So, I think Republicans should start throwing truthful support behind Todd Akin and remind voters that the Democrats put Akin on the ballot but that even Todd Akin is better than Claire McCaskill. “Vote for the idiot; it’s important” or something like that. It would be pretty funny if their stunt backfired. Yes, I know, it’s the US Senate. But if Biden’s qualified, just about anyone is…
“(and in SC two years ago with the homeless guy)”
It was the Dems who nominated the homeless guy.
One will vote to repeal Obamacare, the other will not.
The Republican Party played right into the Democrats plan. McCaskill was finished in Missouri until the GOP backed the Democrats and turned their back on Akin. We do not need her in the Senate. Please stop and think!
McCaskill embraced Obamalinsky whole-heartedly from the start.
Why abandon Akin when he repeated what he was told by a medical Doctor about the body under stress can create a hostile environment for reproduction? Not always but the probability of not settling an embryo is greater than pregnancy.
It is true! In a case of forcible traumatic rape the body gives off estrogen and Adrenalin. Dexametazone (corticosteroid) and estrogen which are two of the injections we use for mismating in animals. Being a poor, dumb rancher I can tell you the physiology of reproduction when it comes to horses, which is in relation to humans too.
Adrenal corticoids and estrogen will in most cases prevent pregnancy. I know the difference with horses and humans but still as an example with breeding horses.
We do not guarantee a Live Foal if the mare is transported within 31 days of the last breeding date. The reason to be safe in foal the embryo does not attach to the uterine wall for 28 days after fertilization plus the 72 hours of longevity of sperm = 31 days. Again the transport stress triggering the adrenal corticoid activity making a hostile uterine environment and the mare slips out the foal embryo. Also, during transport upon arriving at the stud farm the slight elevated stress level many time puts the mare into a false heat due to a boost in hormonal levels.
Granted Akin should never have gone there as his statement did open him up for immense criticism by the misinterpreting Liberal Democrats. Heck, after all, all they do is misinterpret everything that is above a third grade education.
Give Akin a break and save our country from Obamalinsky and his Projected Proletariat Paradise. VOTE FOR AKIN
