Reports from Charlottesville, home of the University of Virginia, indicate Obama was unable to fill the venue he chose to speak at. This seems to be a pattern around the country. Perhaps Washington Secrets has a clue why–college kids are learning the true costs of Obama’s meddling with the health system:
“The future frightening payoffs of college loans are taking a backseat to the immediate and soaring costs of health insurance students are getting slapped with as they return to school this fall, all thanks to Obamacare.
Because of a rule in the Affordable Care Act that lifts caps on policy payoffs, the cheap insurance policies typically healthy students previously got are skyrocketing, some over 1,000 percent. The reason: Without payoff caps, insurance firms are boosting prices to cover their potential losses.
One example: a late July email to incoming students from Guilford College of Greensboro, N.C. revealed a jump from $668 to $1,179, a 75 percent jump. The reason stated: “Our student health insurance policy premium has been substantially increased due to changes required by federal regulations issued on March 16, 2012 under the Affordable Care Act.”

Now THAT’S what I call getting an education!
The one thing I know about college kids is they like money. If they cannot get a job and have to rely on parents for the money they want, they will get an education there. Mom, Dad, Grandma, & Grandpa are broke. I know that several of my childs friends have been so depressed about their future prospects that they do not even believe anyone anymore. They are having to ask parents for gas money to go to their $7.25 an hour job at coffe shops and fast food places around the country. Their college debt is high and they wonder if they will ever pay it off and they do not even care about health care right now. Obama has got a real problem with most college grads from last year and prior. College kids are now beholden to the government for their college loans and not the banks. If they are depressed imagine the parents? Mrs. Obama touting physical fitness as a priority when they cannot even get a job is no wonder why so many people find themselves gaining weight. If you are depressed, you tend not to care and so many people are so depressed right now. This gives new meaning to the word the great depression…
Ryan needs to speak at a major college campus as soon as possible. I can’t believe they wouldn’t be receptive to his message. I hope his phone is ringing off the hook with calls from a hundred College Republican groups- and that they’re being answered.
The reason stated: “Our student health insurance policy premium has been substantially increased due to changes required by federal regulations issued on March 16, 2012 under the Affordable Care Act.”
They’re learning the truth of the old statement: “If you think health care is expensive now, just wait until it is ‘free’.”
