Iowa State Senate Candidate Drops Out of Race to Join Shadow US Government

This is actually kind of neat. Some kids play at being firemen or policemen. There are apparently some adults who like to play at being politicians in their very own government.

Des Moines Register:

The Republican candidate for a state Senate seat in eastern Iowa has ended her campaign and instead declared herself a U.S. Senator for the state of Iowa.

In a letter dated July 4, the candidate, Randi Shannon of Coralville, argued that the legitimate federal government of the United States was replaced by illegitimate “corporate” government in 1871 and has been operating since then in violation of the U.S. Constitution.

She learned this fact just recently, she said, and has come to believe it after months of research.

“Months” of research? Now there’s a reading list I’m dying to see.

Dropping her bid for state office was a rejection of that illegitimate government. Now, she said she has been appointed to serve as a U.S. senator in the recently revived and constitutionally legitimate Republic of the United States of America. She was placed in the office, she said, by Iowa’s four U.S. House members in the “Republic” government.

Shannon was a candidate for the 34th District Senate seat, which covers Marion and parts of Cedar Rapids and other portions of Linn County. Ending her candidacy leaves only incumbent Democrat Liz Mathis in the race.

The “reinhabited” Republic State of Iowa?

Thank you for your interest in the reinhabited republic State of Iowa, one of 50 reinhabited Republics that constitute the primary government of We the People in Republic, and in the reinhabited Republic for the united States of America.

Please visit History to learn how the United States has existed in two forms — the original United States Republic of our Founding Fathers that was in full operation until 1860 as a collection of sovereign Republics operating under Common Law, and the UNITED STATES CORPORATION created by Congress in 1871, whereupon the Republic form of government was gradually abandoned. The Federal Corporation was created to be a government for the 10 miles square District of Columbia. This Federal corporation operates under Corporate/Commercial/Public Law and now presumes to govern the entire land mass of the United States rather than the Constitutionally mandated District of Columbia.

If your desire is to live as a free person, according to Common Law, we invite you to join the reinhabited republic State of Iowa (or the Republic of the state settlement in which you live). Joining will qualify you to vote in upcoming free and fair elections to elect lawful de jure government for your state Republic, for your repopulated lawful County Settlement, and for the Republic of the united States of America.

Wow. Just wow.

The FAQ section is pure comedy. This was actually the first question that crossed my mind:

Q. Can I join the Republic and still maintain my status as a U.S. citizen?

A. I suppose that it is technically possible, but if you want to remain a U.S. citizen, that means also retaining all the red tape and contracts that goes along with that status.

A. Why would you want to be two minded? You can’t be a slave and a freeman at the same time. If you mean, could I do business with the corporation, that might be possible — I believe that the strawman was originally created for that purpose but the fiction became too easy to manipulate. What is important here is for you to have a clear view of where you want to be, and why you would want to be both a freeman and a U.S. citizen/subject.

This may be the first FAQ section I’ve seen on a website where two different people are answering the question, and giving two totally contradictory responses.

Of course, this is loony tunes, but in a way, it is so precious you just want to reach out and give these crackpots a hug. So simple minded. So childlike in its logic and reason. It’s sort of like the Occupy Wall Street folk and their fragile naivete about the world owing them a living. You would hate to set them straight because you know they would be genuinely disappointed.

As far as Randi Shannon is concerned, I wish her well in her new position as senator of the pretend Republic of the USA.
