Iowa's King: To Obama, Holder, 'Illegal Immigrants are Undocumented Democrats'

A conservative Iowa Republican lashed out at the Justice Department yesterday for demanding that Florida stop its review of registered voters to determine eligibility.

“Once again the Attorney General politicized his role,” said Rep. Steve King. “The Department of Justice is aiding in illegal immigrants being allowed to vote and prohibiting the state of Florida from enforcing the law.”

Attorney General Eric Holder and the Obama administration are contending that Florida is breaking federal law, citing the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which states that voter lists cannot be adjusted within 90 days of the primary. Florida points out that they tried to begin the process last October, but were stonewalled by the administration.

“This is another example of how Eric Holder and the Obama administration politically calculate and abuse the power of the Justice Department in a way I have not seen in my time in Congress,” King said. “In their minds, illegal immigrants are undocumented democrats. What we’re getting from the Justice Department is anything but justice.”
