The following exchange was transcribed from the Sean Hannity radio show on which bestselling author Ed Klein, author of The Amateur: Barack Obama in The White House (Regnery), appeared shortly after 4pm eastern time yesterday. Klein spent almost an hour on the air being interviewed by Hannity. During the interview Klein named, for the first time, the person who the Rev. Jeremiah Wright said initiated the attempt to bribe Wright with $150,000 for his silence before the 2008 election.
Klein: Well what happened is that after ABC, Brian Ross, broadcast the videotapes of the Rev. Wright Goddamning America and slamming whites, slamming Jews, and America, he was contacted by one of Obama’s closest personal friends. A guy who travels on Obama’s plane, who plays basketball with him, who goes on vacations with him.
Hannity: And you name this guy for the first time today because you did not name him in the book.
Klein: I didn’t name him in the book but I can tell you who he is. His name is Dr. Eric Whitaker.
Hannity: Dr. Whitaker.
Klein: Dr. Whitaker is the vice president of the University of Chicago Medical Center, and he’s a member of Obama’s very tight inner circle. And he sent an email to a member of the Trinity United Church.
Hannity: By the way is this the same hospital Michelle worked at.
Klein: Exactly the same hospital that she worked at.
Hannity: And this is where she got that big raise after he became Senator.
Klein: She was making, what, 300-some-odd-thousand dollars?
Hannity: But it was a significant jump up, after he became Senator.
Klein: That’s right. And, you know, Chicago politics is one hand feeds the other, as you know. And Eric Whitaker, very close friend of the Obamas, sent an email to a member of the church saying that the Rev. Wright could get $150,000 if he would shut up and not criticize Obama anymore. Then after the Rev. Wright said no thank you, Obama himself paid a personal call on the Rev. Wright.
Hannity: When did this personal meeting take place, this face to face.
Klein: Just to put it in context, if you remember Obama made a big speech.
Hannity: In Pennsylvania, in Philly.
Klein: That’s right, saying, this is his famous race speech which took place on the 18th of March. About ten days later he made this secret meeting with the Rev. Wright, after he had already denounced him, and begged him to not speak any further. Now we know this is true not only because the Rev. Wright told me so, but because the Secret Service logs logged in this meeting. So we have confirmation that it actually took place.
Hannity: So they offered him – and this is all on the tapes that you have with Rev. Wright, Rev. Wright said this. So Rev. Wright, am I reading this correctly, is angry at Obama?
Klein: Rev. Wright is more than angry, he is absolutely fulminating. He feels that he’s been thrown under the bus by a man who he mentored for 23 or 24 years. You know we, all of us, complained about the fact that Obama sat in that church and listened to that hate speech for 20 years. But what we don’t realize is that even before he became a member of the church he was very close to the Rev. Wright who was like a second father to him. And who was his spiritual adviser, his political adviser. And, in fact, the Rev. Wright told me on tape that Obama came to him and said I need some spiritual advice, I don’t know exactly who I am. And the Rev. Wright said, and this is on tape, well we know your Islam background and you have that but what you need now is some coaching on Christianity. And I asked the Rev. Wright, did you convert him from being a Muslim to a Christian. And he said, well I don’t know if I can go that far, but I can tell you that I made it comfortable for him to accept Christianity without having to renounce his Islamic background.
Meanwhile…. back in high school… Mitt Romney gave someone a haircut.
Hannity: And this is all on tape.
Klein: This is all on tape.
Hannity: When can I play these tapes?
Klein: I’d be happy to give them to you.
Hannity: Can I have a copy of the whole 3 and a half hours?
Klein: Absolutely.
Hannity: I’d love a copy of that and, believe me, we’re going to play them.

That guy, Whitaker, is the same one PJ media had a story on yesterday, announcing he had received a multimillion dollar grant from this administration.
It’s all beyond surreal. America formally went insane in November 2008. Isn’t a definition of insanity when people work adamently against their own self interests.
But aside from the fact that Obama has led one of the wierdest and sickest lives in modern history, isn’t it starkly clear that he is ruling against the forcefully stated insistance of the only people who have had something close to freedom in the history of mankind.
The US is totally unique. There have been only a handful of societies that have ever approached self rule. Perhaps some periods of late English history, or Australia, perhaps Canada, maybe some European countries from time to time. So one can’t really compare the US to the rest of the world or the rest of history. It can only be compared to itself and it’s own history. And with 40+ presidents and roughly the same number of congresses and administrations, there hasn’t been anything that approaches what this maniac has somehow been imposing on our country. Is there any question that 70% or more oppose everything he stands for…perhaps 50% or more verge on violent opposition, even though our tradition of peaceful government change is about as inbred as it gets.
Essentially we have an elected official who totally disdains the will of the poeople. It’s unprecedented, unimaginable. With the support of a tiny tiny clique of academics and so-called journalists who work as his propaganda arm, he is attempting to effectively overthrow 230 years of tradition and law and impose an alien form of tyrannical rule that not even many of his most rabid supportors would accept if they really thought about what he insists upon rather than accepting the fantasy that he is enacting their own adolescent visions for the country.
I’ll die before I begin to understand it or reconcile to how it has happened after two centuries of self reliance by people who mowed down a wilderness and conquered a continent in the flash of a handful of decades. It has to be a form of mass hypnosis.
Barack Obama is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.
So you haven’t met any others, then?
You need to get out more…
I do go out to the movies often. My favorite political thriller is “The Manchurian Candidate.” Although the movie was remade in 2004 starring Denzel Washington, the black-and-white version made in the 1962 starring Frank Sinatra is the better of the two. Understanding my ironic comment about our “fearless leader”, Barack Obama, requires familiarity with either of these movies. It also requires understanding that an earlier comment spoke of our nation’s mass hypnotic state when electing him.
My apologies for not making my comment more clear.
Narcissistic personalities are like that…
Doggonit Helene. I was going to be the smarty and say that!!! You beat me to it. Excellent job, Harvard Yard Conservative.

Why don’t you pass the time of day by playing a game of solitaire?
I used to enjoy solitaire fairly often, but every time I played the queen of diamonds, I had these incredible urges to clean my hunting rifle and to telephone my mother.
The phenomenon of obama is hard to understand. The fall of Rome offers some insight, but only a qualified amount. However, and I have read this as written by others so I do not claim to be rendering some unique philosophical truth here, obama is not the problem. The problem is that portion of the American electorate that accepted this nobody who had no achievements, no record, no academic credentials, no fund of experiences during his youth, and no positive influences taken from well respected people as he grew. This group of voters who, like lemmings followed obama through a manipulated campaign full of media slush and the abandonment of even the pretense of fair handedness, venerated this cipher, and elected him to the highest office in the land are the REAL problem. I do not know how to rectify this situation and either discount of educate these sheeple, but if we intend to continue existing, we must find a way.
No.
They were brainwashed by the leftist media.
Average people are too busy to be intimately involved with politics, and they are susceptable to propaganda for just that reason, particularly when the propaganda organization has carefully built a reputation for credibility for many decades before going full monty for a radical pied piper who runs on a mountain of lies.
Even the media, in unguarded moments, declares that they have a 15% impact on election results. Personally, I think that is understated. It’ probably closer to 25%. This country OVERWHELMING believes in its traditions, in the value of hard work, and in free-market capitalism. That is thoroughly proven by many polls.
Un-manipulated, this country would have elected even a horrible candidate like McCain in a landslide over a known radical leftist like obama. But the country didn’t know.
Don’t blame the victim.
