The Left can accuse conservatives of engaging in racially charged behavior, when in fact the Left requires racial resentment to survive. Consider the brewing war between Tim Jacob Wise and Andrew Breitbart. Wise is a race arsonist of the higher order. His mission in life is to stoke the flames of racial resentment and grievance. Cause for grievance lurks everywhere for Wise, and therefore he is relevant in Leftist circles. A few moments on his website gives you an idea of the creepy depths he will plumb to keep the malignancy of racial resentment alive.
Not surprisingly, Wise is a favorite guest on MSNBC.
Wise is not beyond tossing defamatory accusations at conservatives. Consider his running war with Andrew Breitbart. Wise actually went to Tulane at the same time Breitbart did. At that time, a cross burning took place on the lawn of Breitbart’s fraternity. That fraternity had a black pledge, and Breitbart was the pledge’s sponsor. Decades later, Wise actually accused Breitbart of having something to do with the cross burning.
So far, nobody has sued Wise for defamation, or even called for him to be bumped from MSNBC. Those penalties are reserved for conservatives.
But the fight has gotten bloodier in recent days with Wise taking to the airwaves with his fellow traveller Sam Seder at MSNBC. This dispute is more than a shouting match between Wise and Breitbart, it is an illustration of the double standard that affects any discussion of racial issues in this country. When a presidential candidate bemoans Americans on food stamps, some hear racial code. When Eric Holder hears a witness statement documenting black panther voter intimidation, “my people” are offended. This effort to shame people from discussing real problems is an effort to provide a smokescreen for bad policies. Unfortunately, the nation suffers.

If you think that is bad, did you hear Juan Williams take on codified racial language? I am tired of all this race baiting, rich and poor baiting, and name calling. We have an interracial President now so nothing is stopping any person from any race from being whatever they want in the free world. Wise, and people like Sharpton & Jackson cannot survive in the real world so the make one up just so they can be relevant. Seems to me they have more issues than racism. Seems to me they have low self esteem and have to prop themselves up ever no and then so they can feel good about themselves.
“….people like Sharpton & Jackson cannot survive in the real world so the make one up just so they can be relevant.”
BINGO.
Low self-esteem has nothing to do with it. They are con-artists of the highest order. They know very well what they are doing. The race baiting is a deliberate, calculated strategy.
Rather than simply glancing at Wise’s website, I’d suggest that readers who are interested listen to one of his lectures. Go to itunes, search for “Mount Holyoke Tim Wise” and download the February 29 2008 lecture. Give it a listen. You may or may not agree with everything – or anything – he says, but rather than taking Andrew Breitbart’s word for it, you can make up your own mind. Wise makes some interesting points and is worth listening to for anyone who is concerned about issues of race and society. Like Gingrich and Breitbart, Wise does not pretend that race is no longer an issue in society, rather it is something to be discussed. By the way, Wise is a white guy.
Brutus —-> Tim Wise.
No thanks. I’m not the least bit interested in hearing this guy give a lecture. Especially, not after I just wasted five minutes of my life looking at his website.
If I wanted to hear a Democrat race-hustler… wait. I have no desire to hear any of them. Race is a non-issue EXCEPT that I keep getting accused of being a racist by people who think getting OTHER PEOPLE to hate ME is their way to power and riches.
Wise is — intellectually, morally — no different than a Klansman.
No thanks. I fell victim to the crap Tim Wise peddles, while in college. I was brainwashed by my professors to hate part of my heritage, my Euro side. Joined a group called “Refuse & Resist” & almost bought a t-shirt that read, “I Used to be A White American But I Gave It Up In the Interest of Humanity.” It was at an anti-Capitlaist,anti-military, etc event, but I was a poor college kid & couldn’t afford the price of the t-shirt. Capitalism alive & well at an anti-Capitialist event. Hypocrisy upon hypocrisy, upon hypocrisy, etc. As a former leftist, I can honestly say that a good portion of the people I know, whom are preoccupied by race, are leftists. They’ve said some very hurtful things to me, regarding my husband who is biracial.
I’d never heard of Tim Wise before, but looking quickly at a clip of him, he is an angry, angry man.
He is also a veritable Miniver Cheevy, born too late; the “white privilege” he is ranting about in the presumably representative clip I saw is something that, if it did once exist in the manner he described (a proposition questionable at best), has not existed in such manner since very shortly after Wise was toilet-trained.
“Malignancy” is a good word. Especially when properly spelled.
This, on top of Juan Williams’ article this morning is just over the top. Evidently, in the view of the left, no one can possibly engage in political speech without being a racist.
Good to know.
Not quite — they’re quite sure they themselves can do anything, say anything, and be innocent of the least hint of racism.
“Mommy, when I grow up I want to be an anti-racist activist!”
Puh-leeze. I wish I’d taken that class in college on how to be a professional gasbag. Who pays for these gasbags? Is there a Gasbag Clearinghouse? A Gasbag Foundation with Gasbag Grants?
Pardon, but I believe the polite term for “gasbag” is “community organizer”.
