Polls Open in Sunshine State
WINTER GARDEN, FL — Polls officially opened here in Florida this morning. Newt Gingrich made a stop at the First Baptist Church of Windermere to greet voters heading to the ballot box.
Facing a swarm of national and local press, the former Speaker said he felt “confident” heading into today. Speaking to a gaggle of reporters outside his press bus, the Gingrich stated that he didn’t think Republican voters wanted a Massachusetts moderate to go against Obama in the fall.
When asked about the challenges of being outspent 5 to 1 in the state, Gingrich stated, “It’s very hard, especially when the campaign has been so dishonest and lying about my record.”
With Romney leading by double digits in most polls, Gingrich is not expected to make an 11th hour comeback. Romney appeared to take a victory lap in his appearances yesterday and canceled a rally in Tampa that was supposed to be held this morning.

Should we count our votes here? Mark one down for Newt though I did have a lot of trouble not marking my ballot for Rick Perry. Maybe I should have, I don’t know, but figured it would have been a waste of a vote that could have kept Mitt from buying our state.

George Soros is saying no difference between Obama and Romney. Maybe Creepy Dude is stirring up trouble, but there are serious doubts about this with the conservative base. All the more reason for this process to continue to the convention. Santorum needs to stay in. The only way to have this open is for Gingrich, Santorum and Paul to take enough delegates so it has to go to the convention. Claiming Romney won now and not letting this process vet out would be a big mistake by the GOP establishment.
What if Newt does better than expected?
Will the ruling class resort to firearms in the next state?
Oh wait…they don’t support the second amendment. Maybe they will try to centure the conservatives instead.
From NRO – there is a link to the actual Newt memo – unbelievable

“Some of the proposed bills sound curious: the Baby Business Bill, the War of Ideas Act, the International Barnraising Bill, the National Right to Knowledge Bill, the Older Americans Bill of Rights.
This memo seems to be only a planning document. Gingrich wasn’t necessarily serious about turning these ideas into actual legislation; he was merely giving his friends food for thought. But the memo does show a distinctive characteristic of Gingrich’s: his love of ideas — even ideas that sound, at first hearing, a little odd.”
I’m backing Mr. Sweater Vest, taking the Michelle Malkin approach. At least Santorum is the grown up in the room, not a perfect candidate by any means…
