Here at PJTV, we vigilantly monitor all forms of mainstream media bias. Which is why this Google search piqued our attention:
Apparently, Google’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO) doesn’t take too well to Rush Limbaugh.
It doesn’t look like this is the first time Google has tried to block Rush either. Chris Silver Smith of NodalBits notes how Google’s site blocking feature is “an assault on SEO.”
Now only if they could turn this on for Keith Olbermann….

What’s the point of this? That Google included a link to let the closed-minded keep their pwecious wittle eyes from ever being sullied by links to Limbaugh’s site?
Meh. It’s obvious they indexed the site and returned links to it. It’s also clear they realize it’s frequently updated and popular. Catering to their literal neighbors with that link doesn’t bother me.
I think that Google offers to block results that whenever you click “back” from a Google search link as a way to parse out unwanted hits from subsequent searches. I believe it applies to any search.
This morning I googled Kathy Shaidle looking for an essay she wrote a few years ago, and as I typed my additional keywords, they replaced “Shaidle” with “Griffin” then returned a load of guano (none of which mentioned my additional keyword, either) about that wrinkled bag of hate instead of anything even remotely resembling what I was looking for. I suppose most people only ever search for “popular” (dear God, how is that thing popular?) topics, but if it was really tracking me, it should know I don’t.
Yeah, I don’t know why I use it, either.
The great internet satan did a number on Rick Santorum recently too. I don’t use it, but you can’t escape the adds. You can choose not to click on them.
This is why I use Dogpile. And you don’t lose anything by doing so, since Dogpile combines Google, Yahoo, Bing, and I think a couple of other search engine’s results into one handy screen for you.
You really need to think before you post something like this. Google does this for EVERY SITE if you click on the link and then click out again. It has nothing to do with Rush Limbaugh or bias.
I’d like to understand how I can get around the page after page of liberal media listings whenever I research a political topic. Seriously, unless I specify a particular conservative site in the search, all I get is constant sites at the Washington Post, NY Times, NPR, Huff Post,Talking Points Memo, Guardian, CNN, Media Matters, etc ad nauseum.
