The Romney Team, clearly worried about Newt’s surge in the polls, has decided to step up it’s attacks against the former Speaker.
Chris Christie (Romney supporter): “When you look at candidates say, ‘Is this the kind of person who’s always going to make me proud in the Oval Office and never have to worry will embarrass America? That I’ll never have to worry will do something that will just make me ashamed?’ [Romney] just won’t.”
Former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu (Romney supporter): “The off-the-cuff comment, for example, that Gingrich throws out on occasion is a reflection on the off-the-cuff thinking that he goes through to deal with issues…That is not what you want in a commander in chief.”
Former Senator Jim Talent of Missouri (Romney supporter): “He is not a reliable or trustworthy leader…He also says outrageous things that come out of nowhere, and come at a time when they most undermine the conservative agenda….This election is going to be about him, and that’s exactly what the Democrats want.”

All these criticisms are valid ones. I do not have to worry about Romney having his hair out of place… EVER… that’s for sure. It’s just that I cannot trust that snake. (And anyone who now endorses AGW, after all the recent revelations, is a non-starter for me.)
Gingrich is erratic, but eventually comes to the Right place, mostly. I mostly know what I am getting with him. Not ideal, but better than Romney. Even Obama is better than Romney, because Obama can & will be opposed.
Neither one of them will defy Congress. The better thing to worry about is what Bryan Preston posed a couple of weeks ago. If the dim Dems take back the House or Senate in 2014, how will the president react. Either one of them in that situation is a wild card in my opinion. But at least by that point, the worst of the damage should have been reversed.
Newt, I think, would be more likely to follow conservative principles. He won’t much care what the Slimes or Compost says. The issue with Newt is that he is too creative for his own good.
Nothing like a little daylight disinfectant.
Romney just strikes me as too carefully crafted, too packaged. Having said that, if he’s the GOP nominee he’s got my vote. If Cthulhu is the GOP nominee, he’s got my vote.
