We have been rounding up reaction to news that a second batch of Climategate emails has hit the streets.
The Competitive Enterprise Institute says that the emails re-ignite the scandal, and show evidence of a scientific conspiracy and cover-up.
“If there were any doubts remaining after reading the first Climategate e-mails, the new batch of e-mails that appeared on the web today make it clear that the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is an organized conspiracy dedicated to tricking the world into believing that global warming is a crisis that requires a drastic response,” said Myron Ebell, director of CEI’s Center on Energy and Environment.
“Several of the new e-mails show that the scientists involved in doctoring the IPCC reports are very aware that the energy-rationing policies that their junk science is meant to support would cost trillions of dollars,” said Ebell.
PJ Media’s Richard Pollock reached out to Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), who says the new emails are “alarming.”
It’s alarming, but not surprising that there may be more emails out there. This news further highlights the need for an unbiased, comprehensive investigation of “Climategate.” As I said after the first round of IPCC emails were released, we need to be sure that our policy decisions—decisions which would impact the American economy and cost hundreds of thousands of jobs—are based on sound evidence. It appears, once again, that there were attempts to intentionally manipulate or cherry pick scientific data to achieve a political agenda.
Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), long the most vocal global warming skeptic in Washington, blasted the scientists involved and the Obama EPA for continuing to get in the way of job growth in the name of discredited climate science.
“Even before the Climategate emails were released in 2009, the so-called ‘consensus’ peddled by the IPCC was already shattered,” Senator Inhofe said. “Nevertheless, the Obama administration is moving full speed ahead to implement global warming regulations that will impose the largest tax increase in American history, significantly raise energy prices, and destroy hundreds of thousands of jobs.
“Remember, the Obama EPA is basing these regulations on its endangerment finding, which relies on the flawed science of the IPCC. Now a recent report by the EPA Inspector General has revealed that EPA cut corners in the process leading up to the endangerment finding: it shows that EPA did not engage in the required record-keeping procedures or conduct an independent review of the science underpinning these costly regulations. If the first Climategate scandal – and the over one hundred errors in the IPCC science that were revealed in its wake – were not enough, the apparent release of the Climategate 2.0 emails is just one more reason to halt the Obama EPA’s job killing global warming agenda.
“The crisis of confidence in the IPCC translates into a crisis of confidence in the EPA’s endangerment finding. The IPCC science has already disintegrated under the weight of its own flaws, and I believe it will only be a matter of time before the endangerment finding follows suit. It’s time for the Obama administration to stop trying to resurrect policies that are all pain for no gain, and get to work on reviving our economy.”

In response to this latest leak revealing further awareness of and schemes to work around the fatal flaws in the Global Warming Industry’s theory, and their own work — from efforts to pervert FOIA, to fudging computer models, to the hilarious flailing about on the role of religious faith and advancing their agenda or defeating those who dared dispute their own, new religion — we are witnessing an unknowing race to the bottom, a contest among warmist cheerleaders for the speediest, least plausible version of “nothing to see here/old news/move along!” Or, as Kevin Bacon’s character memorably put it in Animal House: remain calm, all is well.
I love the criticism of a ‘November Surprise’ – coming from the authors (and regular users of) the ‘October Surprise’ re: the timing of this second release as regards another IPCC event – Response the best.
In an article in the Guardian they focusing on this as an issue of email theft. To them leaking diplomatic communications is brave but exposing this fraud is breaking the law. What a bunch of hypocrites these leftist losers are.
Ace of Spades noted this pattern back in the East Anglia CRU Leak’s early days: When the leak hurts the Right, the news is about the content that was leaked; but when the leak hurts the Left, the news is about the illegality of the leak and the nefarious motives of the leaker.
Double standards for Right and Left, yet again. I suppose it’s time to assume them, rather than be surprised by them.
Yeah, they lie but you’re a tool of the big-oil-financed-climate-deniers for noticing that they’re lying. Imagine Einstein complaining that those who disagreed with relativity were tools of the Newtonian-mechanics-financed-priviledged-frame-of-reference lobby. “Science” in the age of Obama.

I propose a UN resolution setting a universal speed limit of 299,792, 458 m/s to avoid any messy questioning of known facts or inconvenient truths.
Isn’t it amazing how ordinary people (we bitter, clinging, denialists) knew how this was going to go down long before our so-called “leadership”?
The funniest thing about all this is that, once again, people blindly listen to experts, even when their theories and claims are ludicrous on their face. Each new discovery is always touted as the “truth”. Yet, every few years, that “truth” must be revised to reflect new data. It has ever been thus, even since Og remarked to Gog that the sun rises in the same general direction every morning, and was laughed out of the cave by the theoreticians.
Today’s “progressives” are anything but. They make the High Churchmen of the Middle Ages seem recklessly wanton by comparison. Indeed, the formal Leftist religion resembles most closely the Amish or Mennonite models, although not anywhere near so benign. They fix their tiny little brains on a single point in time, which is pretty arbitrarily arrived at, and then defend their turf like a terrier. All else is heresy. That’s why they need hate speech laws. Otherwise, that pesky first amendment gets in the way of enforcing orthodoxy. But, in fairness to the leftist morons, noone says we have to buy what they’re selling.
