The ecofreak movement is basically a neopagan, Gaia-worship made-up religion. The carbon credits are indeed a substitute for indulgences, just as AGW is a substitute for eternal damnation.
“There is no salvation outside of the Church.” Isn’t Al Gore’s “carbon offset” scheme the same kind of schtick that Johannes Tetzel was selling when he came to Germany in 1516? Either way you atone for your sins and become a morally pure individual.
