A few weeks ago, I posted here at Pajamas how Eric Holder’s DOJ was holding scavenger hunts and trips to the ball park for employees. I reported that Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez praised the hiring of 130 new lawyers even though he confessed he didn’t have enough money to pay them all. Just when you thought it couldn’t get more out of control, the DOJ announces a kegger for employees during working hours:
“The Civil Rights Division will host a get-together on Thursday, June 30th in the Main Justice Courtyard, from 3:00 p.m. Until 6:00 p.m. Beer, wine and snacks will be served. Come on out and enjoy the weather and say hello to your co-workers! Hope to see you there! (Rain/extreme heat date: Wednesday, July 13th, 2011 – Great Hall). Please contact Kathy Anderson in the Executive Office by email or on 202-514-5577 if you have any questions.”
For you party planners, the Civil Rights Division has 815 employees. You do the math. And this is no office picnic. This is an alcohol fueled working hours party paid for by . . . you. When real unemployment is above 16 percent, the annoucement displays an astonishing disregard for the economic pain in the nation, and the spiraling deficit this adminstration has created.
