The Birth Certificate — A Teaching Moment

People like me who think most conspiracy theories are for paranoids with too much time on their hands can take thirty seconds (max) to gloat.

Now that’s that’s over — let’s try to learn a thing or two from the Birther fiasco, things that we may have forgotten since it became evident to everyone with his head screwed on that Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK all by himself.

Lesson 1. If it looks too good to be true, it almost always is. (Besides the obvious facts that were always there – birth announcements in the newspaper, etc.- the number of important people with terrific lives who would have had them ruined had Obama been revealed to be a foreign national is legion. Why would those people risk that? Idiotic… unless you’re a paranoid.)

Lesson 2. Criticizing your opponent for the wrong — in this case almost foolish — thing drastically undermines your legitimate criticisms.

This doesn’t mean I don’t think the press haven’t hidden or deliberately been uninterested in plenty of important details about Barack Obama (his education, political relationships, etc.) that we should know about, but stick to those that have true policy implications. Here’s one we have all known about for a few years – the unreleased Khalidi tapes, currently in the hands of the LA Times. With the Middle East in turmoil, that would be particularly interesting now.

Last thing, Republicans are lucky the birth certificate was released now, not a year from now with the election bearing down on them.

QUERY: Are the gullible folks who pre-ordered this book going to get their money back? (It’s still #28 on Amazon.)

Now all he has to do is prove that he is American in his heart and mind.

• CatoRenasci

That’s the real question, isn’t it….

• Chad

Not really all that much a question, after two years he’s provided a compelling answer.

• I think Obama has put the issue on ice except for the fringe, but he sure didn’t look good doing it.

A whole lot of us who aren’t on the fringe are looking at this and saying so why didn’t he just kill this thing two years ago, and the conclusion that we are drawing isn’t that this is some big conspiracy but that Obama is a complete F-Up.

The “birther” movement was started in the summer of 2008 by prominent Pennsylvania Democrat who was a Hillary supporter and who appears quite sincere in his belief that Obama is ineligible for the presidency on account of Article II of the Constitution.

It festered and bubbled to the point where Hawaii’s new governor — also a Democrat — said he would release the info upon taking office to put the thing to rest. Then he didn’t.

Another “what’s up with that” moment.

That would have been a perfect time for Obama to step in, say “Oh, for Pete’s sake” and make the information public.

He had to wait until a New York billionaire started asking basic questions to react. This shows that he is completely clueless about what goes on in most of the country and who really has his ear.

It used to be basic journalism to be willing to ask impolite questions and there is nothing wrong with asking “so why aren’t you making this public?”

There is nothing wrong with Trump asking for Obama to make his college transcripts public, either.

Even if they don’t indicate that he is as smart as his disciples claim, it would still be good leadership on Obama’s part to release them, which means he probably won’t.

And it is certainly appropriate for the man Americans hire as their leader to be vetted at least as well as a junior college transfer student.

Is it just me, or does anyone else wonder at the lack of details on this document.

How is this any better (contain more info) than the “short form”

Is this all that is EVER recorded when a baby is born in Hawaii ?

No time of birth, height (length) weight, footprint, seal, crest banner or embossing that makes it look like an “important legal document”

I was born the same year (but on the East Coast)
Mine has all kinds of “personal info” and stuff on it.

So does every other Birth Certificate I’ve ever seen.

If this is indeed “all there is, or ever was” in the State Records concering the birth of Obama, no WONDER there was so much controversy.

It may be authentic, but as a convincing “document”, its practically worthless.

• clear mind

Then, if you look at comments on the Smoking Gun, regular Adobe users tell that the document is layered, and common editing procedures exposes the document as a production in itself, not a copy.

Before we trust Roger, we know his attitude on this from long ago. Now, let’s determine the authenticity of the document presented.

• ChillytheAlaskan

Already websites showing the document released has been altered. I’m no expert, but I went and downloaded the document from whitehouse.gov and by enlarging it could see the alterations noted at this website. http://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=185094

Check it out yourself.

Good point, my Oklahoma bc has all that info, the info about my physical size, how many days I was carried, whether they tested for stds, whether they used an ointment in my eyes, etc. I am not saying that Hawaii does or should record this data, only that it isn’t near as in depth as my Oklahoma bc, and they make fun of us Okies, apparently even though we are more advanced, lol.

• Dr. Frank Lippenheimer

B. Hussein Obama, Jr. is “natural born” all right — a natural born liar.

Today he said that he was releasing the document because the controversy was harming the country. Liar. He did it because The Donald was whipping his boney ass with the issue. And why was that? Because Trump does not play the political correctness game. He could no longer get away with playing the victim card. That card only works on total morons and Washington insiders.

If he did not lie in his reasoning, then the American people can only conclude that their president does not give a damn about their needs or interests. He could have done this months ago. And the only reason he didn’t is because he figured he could get political mileage out of it. One can easily picture him laughing his butt off over what a pack of fools his American constituents are.

2. 2. valerie

This is not a fiasco. It is a “teaching moment” for the Democrats: the national party failed in its responsibility to get rid of this issue before the last election.

Donald Trump has done us a service. Now maybe we can find out the rest of what he’s been saying. I hear he actually has some policy positions, and yet the press only seems capable of reporting only his responses to a single question, and then characterizing him as a single-issue crank.

3. 3. Ron Kean

And Jerome Corsi’s book is coming out soon. Somebody’s going to lose a bunch of money on a lot of books soon.

Actually, days ago, I heard him say that he heard that somebody’s was coming out with a forged birth certificate but I’m not jumping on that band wagon. Too bad. I liked the Swift Boat book and the Obama Nation.

The controversy is moot for now.

4. 4. Constance

Yes, this has been a teachable moment. In the future, it is imperative that the Congress thoughtfully and correctly certify that a person is eligible to be President of the U.S. as per our Constitution. Do not just sign off on the matter and tell the American people not to worry. Had this issue been resolved before the election, all of this angst would not have been necessary. When a people does not trust its leader, and when that leader behaves in a way to grow that mistrust, we have chaos and hatred. The fault isn’t of the “birthers” or Donald Trump. The fault is all Obama’s. A grown man would have cleared this issue up immediately.

• Brad

The true teachable moment here is that the dems in general and the likes of Obama, Reid, Pelosi and Clinton in particular, will use any weapon at their disposal to win the war over control of this country.

Doesn’t matter if it makes them look fertive, dishonest or incompetent in the short run as long as the eventual “outing of the truth” vindicates them and provides them with amunition to attack their opponents.

Unfortunately, the guiless birthers will now focus on his college records at the expense of his policy positions, distracting a significant percentage of the electorate on trivial matters. It really doesn’t matter what his grades were at this point, he’s the President and he has the power of incumbancy at reelection time.

We must focus on Obama’s policies as they are ruiness at best, not on trifling matters that serve no purpose other than to distract.

Silver lining in this cloud, Trump just marginalized himself big time and he’s too stupid/egotistical to realize it. I predict Trump will now focus on Obama’s school records to the exclusion of any real policy questions. Obama will remain silent, his defenders will be appoplectic and eventually, the records will be released to reveal a good if not a great record. Further, if Trump is serious about a run for the White House, his record will come more and more to light, which shows far more support of democrats than republicans. To add insult to injury, the republicans he has supported will likely be of the big government, establishment, RINO variety. He will also have to begin staking out positions on real world issues like taxes, spending, defense, social security, medicare and medicaid, Israel, etc. I doubt very much that his collective positions on these issues will sum up to reveal someone who believes, unfettered, in Freedom, Liberty, Free Markets, American exceptionalism, Personal Responsibility, etc.

Time to mount a campaign to draft Paul Ryan to run for President! The rest of the dolts vying for the republican nomination are no better than Trump or are thoroughly unelectable.

• inspectorudy

Wow Brad, you sure told us off! How did you get so smart? Just think we know more about George Washington than we do about BHO. He can’t even get the dates and events in Bill Ayer’s book, “Dreams From My Father”, correct. He has deliberately misled the public on so many issues including his birth certificate and his college data. He lied about Rev Wright and ALL of his associates that have criminal backgrounds. He has lied about the jobs he has held and about the nature of the businesses that paid him. Why should anything he tells us be believed? It was not the BC itself that was so important but the way he has treated the subject and the way he mistreated the American people. Do you remember the KERRY/BUSH debates and how everyone knew their SAT scores and all of their college grades? Did that seem like something that was out of bounds? Hell no! These people were running for the top office in our nation. But somehow we are not allowed to know any of this about Obama. Why?

• Bill

Don’t know why you want to focus on policy matters important to the Country rather than be entertained by a master showman who made the President do something he didn’t want to. Focusing on policies is a waste of time – you KNOW that, WHATEVER they say, they’re not going to deliver; check the lengthy list of promises (particularly pre-election ones) of either party and you’ll see I’m right. You also know that, if they were capable of delivering, they wouldn’t be in politics spouting about ‘bi-partisan’ approaches.

Don’t blame the politicians, though! We get the government we deserve by voting the doofusses in. If I knew how to change that, I’D be in politics!

• Alana

I agree with Valerie and Constance.

• John Q

“A grown man would have cleared this issue up immediately.”

As Obama did when he released his birth certificate years ago.

I guess he was depending on the rest of the country to similarly act like grownups. Naive of him, huh?

• Max Entropy

It’s not the jurisdiction of the Congress to validate anyone’s eligibility to be president. That would be a violation of the separation of powers. The correct persons to do this would be the electoral college and the states. The states should validate a candidate’s qualifications before placing him of her on the ballot. Alternatively, the electoral college should validate the candidate’s qualifications before voting for the president.
Either way, it something that’s never been done and should be done.

• Merv

If this is a teachable moment, something is wrong. But maybe the clock stopped and I did not catch it. Nothing has changed and if this phony document does anything at all it tells you that somebody lacks “standing” to be our President. With a “claimed” father that is not a US citizen, you can not be Natural Citizen.

If you are not a Natural Citizen you can not become the President!

The teachable moment is over!

5. 5. AML

Not actually a fiasco — it was a fiasco in the making. Obama has known that he had this document all along — how could he not? Why did he not release it in 2007 or 2008?

I think there are a few answers and the most likely is that he preferred the birther controversy rather than controversy over his policies. The birther controversy allows him to highlight the racism and conspiratorial nature of the opposition.

Another potential answer is that he wouldn’t reveal his birth certificate because that would be the proverbial thread that would be pulled exposing — this disclosure leading to calls for the next disclosure, so on and so forth.

My feeling is that for whatever reason, Trump has caused him to release this earlier than he would have wanted.

Or perhaps, he realized that no “birther” republican would win the nomination and so keeping the document behind the veil no longer served any purpose. I mean the best reveal would have been to unleash it right after the republican convention after they spent a week mocking him as Kenyan.

Or perhaps enough people in his MSM were starting to ask a common sense question of “why spend all this money keeping it secret” might spark actual investigative reporting from sources that could not be just ignored.

6. There is another lesson to learn:
Obama is an able politician, capable of pulling his enemies into a trap.
Now he will campaign for one year and a half using the birthers’ position as an “example” of ALL his opponents’ positions.

The guy is a commie, but is no fool.

• inspectorudy

Where is the trap? Who fell into it?

• That’s a pretty funny “trap”! When it works to the point that a majority are starting to wonder what your problem is in releasing it that is just bad PR. Tin ear. Whatever you want to call it. People will forever, FOREVER, remember the joke that you have to supply more information to get a loan or a college billet than to be President of the United States and the press will never care. That change has entered the culture and will forever be part of the Obummer legacy.

7. 7. Hangtown Bob

You say “Last thing, Republicans are lucky the birth certificate was released now, not a year from now with the election bearing down on them.”

That, I believe, may have been Trump’s whole reason for going “Birther” at this stage of the game. If so, GOOD FOR HIM.

8. Donald Trump is just shaking the tree to see what falls out. Perhaps he is a superb manipulator in his own right like the One. Obviously Trump has shaken the tree well enough for the One to interupt the news conference.
Now let’s see the adoption papers and the admission form to Occidental College. If he was adopted by Soetoro when did he change his name back? We don’t even know. The bigger question Why does the press ignore all of this? That is the big question.

I say Go Donald! keep Barry wondering what you are going to do next.
Lord Help Us.

How about this: was he the same BHO? Did he pick up the real BHO’s birth certificate? Did the real BHO die in Indonesia, and was replaced with a Muslim kid?

I love conspiracists. They can go to the darkest and deepest corners of the human psyche that ordinary folks could not go. They could build a whole industry: books, documentaries, news reports, … on “faith”, faith in their own realities.

What latest beliefs that are based on faith? AGW?

9. 9. T. T. Thomas

Yes indeed, it has been a classic B. F. Skinner clinical teaching moment! However, there are more lessons yet to be learned from this great experience.

The socialist are polished experts at manipulating the American psychic of the past several decades….and this issue has been no exception.

Bottom line? Over 60% of American’s being rather fickle, were conditioned by a small number of …………… into believing that their government was completely incompetent to national security matters and the most basic of constitutional mandates. It is this kind of shallowness and mass fickleness the socialists rely upon to advance their ideology.

• Bear

Ironic that you choose BF Skinner as a reference. Scarier still that you imply that the political eligibility issue is one that should/would be something adjudicated by a security agency. Wouldn’t that eliminate most politicians from public office? How many have security clearances prior to attaining office?

• T. T. Thomas

Bear…Sorry to break the news to you but ‘presidents’ are not required to have or maintain any formal security clearance documents. Likewise, the presidential candidates post primary election are all cleared for routine national security briefings. The process for presidents are neither void nor what most citizens may think it to be. The process is very, very intense and conducted well before any president is elected into office.

A color copy, and everyone uses black ink to sign their name? 90% of pens in the world are blue.

This is an obvious forgery.

• Civility

An interesting point: Blue ink would normally be used on the original in order to distinguish it from eventual monochrome photocopies. Then again, it is Hawaii, and things can happen there. Like the governor not being able to find the certificate quite recently.

• RebeccaH

Actually, blue ink produced back then does not reproduce well on copiers. Something to do with the chemical composition. Not that I care, because I think this whole discussion is a waste of time when we could be attacking Obama’s reelection campaign on substantive issues.

11. 11. DianeCee

I don’t know that we can believe that the “reveal” is the real deal. There have been so many incidents where we the people have been duped by those who attempting to control us. I will never believe that obama is one of us because he has made it clear, through his actions, that he isn’t. Now, who was it that paid for his schooling?

• Captain Norway

And by “his actions” you mean his middle name, the color of his skin, and the fact that his father was from Kenya?

• jarmo

I was wondering how long it would be before the race card was played.

• Captain Norway

No, it’s not “the race card”; birtherism is racism. Don’t pretend that this conspiracy theory has nothing to do with his muslim-sounding middle name, his skin color, that he lived in Indonesia as a kid, or the fact that his father was a Kenyan. It has everything to do with that.

And don’t pretend that you would ever demand that a white, anglo-saxon president release even his short-form birth certificate. That’s just a lie.

It’s a shame that you had to do this to America’s first black president. Truly disgraceful.

• Bob

You do recall sir, that during the campaign of 2008, McCain took grief because he was born in the Panama Canal Zone (Navy brat), and had to show his birth certificate?

So, in other words, both candidates were scrutinized roughly equally by the media.

And this would be unfair, how…?

12. 12. froglegs

The photocopy of an apparent tape released today is dated APR 25 2011 FYI. The printed background is not original. So — he did not have this copy to release. Draw your own conclusions. Only thing that bothers me a bit is why nobody could find it before now — not the fact that he would not release it.

13. 13. cfbleachers

I think a number of people will miss the point on this.

Although I never, ever…not once…jumped on the “birther” bandwagon, to suggest that anyone who thought the situation was getting “suspiciouser and suspiciouser” each and every day was an idiot…well, that person has probably never been a defense attorney, an investigator, a police officer…or suffered a bad partner either in marriage or business.

The entirety of Obama’s past is filled with murky, shadowy, heavily veiled and often completely hidden items of key importance to understanding exactly what he believes, how he views the world and what his path to the position of leader of the free world entailed.

The propaganda machine that is in his pocket would NEVER had let a Republican candidate get away with obscuring almost the entirety of one’s background.

When someone’s vocation is attuned to picking up inconsistencies, shifty and shadowy acts, words and deeds, when something triggers the antennae to go up…because a response is less than candid and seems to be INTENTIONALLY hiding something…then, you chase down that answer until you have exhausted what evidence might exist.

Sometimes…you wind up going down blind alleys. It happens. You simply can’t get at evidence, it no longer exists, it is too well hidden…OR…the thing you are chasing is something DIFFERENT that is being hidden…and you don’t have enough facts in your discovery …to connect the dots.

Why the big fight against producing the long form for so long? Not a clue. But because this item related to his place of birth is but one…in several DOZEN murky, shadowy, shady, obscured items….AND…because the fight against it seemed so disproportional to what now, seems so trivial, misses the point.

If we had, in this country, a press that treated candidates equally, vetted them equally, investigated equally, asked questions of them equally, …it would be a different story.

A Republican has to face hostile questioning and intrusion into the lives of himself, his wife, his children, his business partners, his schooling, his friends. A leftist Democrat can throw anyone that doesn’t support him off his plane, snap at anyone that asks the mildest objective question, and shut down inquiry into how he got into two Ivy League schools without so much as basic honors…much less the rigorous requirements for everyone else.

How he traveled to restricted countries with a US passport, ANY of the answers to Stanley Kurtz, ….but ALL of that is hidden from us. And covered up by the propaganda machine.

So, no…I didn’t jump on the “birther” bandwagon. But this is not the point. It never was.

• T. T. Thomas

First, allow me to get my ‘speculation’ out of the way before continuing. I ‘suspect’ the Congressional Progressive Caucus in concert with Teddy and many others, Obama was fully vetted preceding well, 1994. Knowing just a tad bit about the very inner processes of vetting a ‘potential’ presidential candidate, I suspect Obama was vetted by these processes by the time of his 1994 speech at the Dem National convention. Obama didn’t become president through his own ambitions…he was groomed by the democrats progressive machine.

But back on point. I know of NO past president who equals the overt candid writings and in oration of their lives….who they were and what they stood for, than Obama did prior to his election and since. It has all been out there and available to the people prior to a majority voting him into office of the president. He has always been an indoctrinated and active socialist by ideology and remains such without any significant denial.

All this self perceived intellectual bantering is just that…nothing more! The constitution states an age and birth requirement for presidency and that has long been settled by the appropriate government entities who themselves are bound by both legislated and constitutional law. Neither they, nor Obama, are mandated to disclose to the public any personal confidential classified information contrary to law…though Obama had the ‘sole’ ability to do so with his long form birth certificate over the legal option of the live birth certification document. Thats constitutional and legislative fact! The constitution gives to the federal government a mandate to regulate naturalization and to the States the remaining two legislated classes of citizenship. Hawaii did so, within all the legislated laws and the constitution….end of story.

Next comes the whole issue of what the people at-large demand to know and in fact claim constitutional privilege to know. This is where their flawed premise lay….the real issue! Bottom line? Neither the constitution nor legislated law gives merit to such demands.

On the other hand, personalized mud slinging seemingly has become an American process of politics and elections…..diversions from the real issues. Whether this is a case of constitutional and process ignorance, exhausted knowledge of the real issues or just a mean spirited personality flaw, I don’t know but, I do know that it is not productive to America, its governmental process or the society at-large….in fact its destructive!

Now, if only a majority can get refocused on the real issues, within the constitutional and legislated processes, maybe we can field some unknown as yet, superstar American as a viable candidate and get Obama voted out of office in 2012!

• proreason

“I know of NO past president who equals the overt candid writings and in oration of their lives….who they were and what they stood for, than Obama did prior to his election and since. If this were true, you would have a point. But it’s not true for many reasons.
- His writings weren’t candid and many or most were not his own.
- He did not declare who he was and what he stood for. His entire life and campaign were deligned to hide who he is and what he stands for
- It hasn’t been “out there” for ordinary people. In addition to his own campaign of obfuscation, the MBM has deliberately and systematic withheld the truth from people who don’t have the time or ability to research on their own what the media tell them.
- He certainly does not confirm that he is an active socialist. He does everything in his power to obscure it and deny it.

As you know.

But you are correct if what you meant was the sheer volume of words that were produced on his behalf per adult year of his life.

• Bob

NO one doubts that Hitler wrote “mein Kampf”, which came out well before he was given the Chancellorship in 1933.

It is arguable, IMHO, that 0 was “assisted” in no small part while writing his two books.

We probably know less about 0 and his years before politics right now, today, than we knew about Hitler and his early years in say, 1932. And, we have the Internet to assist our search.

Does that scare anyone as much as it scares me?

• jarmo

“On the other hand, personalized mud slinging seemingly has become an American process of politics and elections…..diversions from the real issues.”

“Mudslinging” was much worse during the early years of our Republic.

Absolutely, Brad. Bush, as you will recall, was a C student, and Kerry even worse (although they buried that deep in the NYT). Gore practically flunked out of Divinity School. I guess if you can’t pass, go into politics. In any case, your point is correct. Let’s deal with Obama’s policies. THEY are the problem, not his grades in calculus.

As someone with background in corporate PR, let me assure you that Obama has allowed the birthers to wound him. (See my post below for more)

While I would certainly agree that it is vital that no Republican office holders jump on this bandwagon, in this country we believe that the people can think what they want to. Rather than marginalize birthers, the efforts of the MSM to condemn them have served only to convince even more people there must be something to it. This has grown to the point that Obama now has better than 60 percent of the country questioning his legitimacy at some level (and most of the other 40 pecent on the defensive).

By this late point, the more Obama and the Dems try to use this to their advantage, the more they will remind people that his legitimacy remains an open question. Much as it goes against my original expectations, it may well turn out that the birther issue was a stick that put quite a few whelps on this dog.

• proreason

Charlie seems to be able to think for himself. Well said.

• Charlie

Thanks, Pro… but if I was thinking, why did I write “whelps” (dog pups) instead of “welts”?

• Steve225

As for his past or his policies, why does it have to be one or the other?

If his behavior surrounding his past serves to demonstrate that he is lacking in character and unfit for office in that regard, so be it.

No one has taken focus off his poicies. Don’t think for a moment that this is a distraction.

We’re not as dumb as you think we are. Maybe you’re used to dealing with liberals.

• cfbleachers

Brad, I consider myself neither guileless, nor do I consider myself an idiot.

If you suggest that the REASON that Obama has hidden his past AND that the propaganda machine has intentionally covered it up and rebuilt it to defraud the public…and that doesn’t matter, then we are on polar opposite sides of the fence on this subject.

That would render the whole of Stanley Kurtz’s efforts…meaningless.

To suggest that we “only” need to understand his “policy positions”….without unveiling the path that led him to those positions…will render the CONTINUING fraud of concealing the true intent of those very policies and continuing defrauding of the public about where we are headed.

He has successfully to date, given his policies a mask…which his propaganda machine has dutifully helped to conceal the true face of what is behind that mask.

Without context, without the rigorous efforts of someone like a Stanley Kurtz…that mask stays on…and we NEVER fully unveil the true policies…we only get the whitewashed version.

In my opinion, it is a grave error to suggest that we KNOW why he is hiding behind the shadows on so many issues. What’s on the Rashid Khalidi tape? Perhaps it is nothing. Perhaps it is earth-shattering. Perhaps it is something in between. Could it reveal something about his intent for “policy” use?

If Obama did not have the grades to get into Columbia…how did he get in? It’s not the “grades” themselves…that may be revealing. How did he get into Harvard law school, without the barest minimum for any other student. Again, it’s not the “grades”…it’s the murky, shadowy way he gets things done…and…the company he keeps that may be of importance.

I have handled hundreds…maybe in the thousands of the probative evidence hunts…the mistake that the “guileless” make…is believing they know something doesn’t exist or isn’t important. The devil is in the details.

With Republican candidates, no stone is unturned. With leftist Democrats, no leaf is disturbed. We are left to do all the detail work by ourselves, for ourselves.

We must demand that questions be asked and answers be given….equally to all national office seekers. One side faces hostility and the other is given complete cover-up does not serve this land of ours…no matter which side gets the rigged game.

And, if we don’t understand EVERYTHING that Stanley Kurtz has uncovered to date, we don’t understand a damn thing about Obama’s policies.

• daxypoo

exactly

is it unreasonable for obama (intellectual heavyweight that he is) to clearly and articulately express and demonstrate his modus operandi?

everything about obama is left up “to the reader’s imagination”
(this is the core educational tool/method being taught from pre-school to phd btw)

• Brad

Cfbleachers

Sorry my friend, wasn’t attacking you and was less elegant in my wording than I would have liked due to being rushed.

My point is that while it might be important, and I agree with you, it is, it isn’t a winning point for our side!

The fawning media in this country will be sure to take the focus completely and utterly off of Obama and place it entirely on the Republicans. When it turns out that the birthers were wrong about everything, the left will make that the issue in the upcoming election and totally disarm the republican nominee, no matter who it is.

Is it detestable that Obama would engage in these tactics? Absolutely! I am not surprised in the least by this as they have a 100 year track record of engaging their number one rule – “Then ends ALSWAYS justifies the means!”

I really just want the coservative and libertarian minded folks to focus on policy at this point, or it will severely hamper our ability to defeat this dunce in 2012.

• cfbleachers

No worries, Brad. I am rushed quite often myself and write things to get them on the page…believe me, more often than I like!

We are in agreement on most things here.

Focus on policies as opposed to the “sizzle” of some side issues SHOULD be the way public debate is handled. And…it certainly is the high road.

For Republicans, it never works that way. They are constantly harangued and investigated…with every drop of ink and every talking head honed in on them with laser-like intensity.

A leftist Democrat EXPECTS pillow soft treatment and will bristle at even the slightest objective inquiry. They are given complete cover and ANYONE questioning a leftist politician of note…is attacked with the same ferocity.

Therefore, strategically and tactically…the Republicans have cowered in fear, responded with timidity, flinched at the notion that they would have to ever MENTION a shady, shadowy, devious, deceitful, scandalous past…especially of the “protected” class.

Obama is the pinnacle of the protected class. And, it’s hard to beat Ted Kennedy, Clinton, …not to mention people like George Soros and Bill Ayers for getting their tracks covered.

But, here’s the rub, Brad….what Stanley Kurtz has uncovered is a primer for understanding the who, what, when, where, why…of how these policies came to be, what is behind them, and it pulls the mask off the charade.

It is mandatory to understand the arithmetic of this, before we focus on the physics of it.

These policies are not always what they seem. And, if we ignore that fact…we wind up attacking the wrong things….and get beaten.

It’s bad enough that treatment of Republican candidate vs. leftist Democrat is so horrific, unfair and rigged. It’s worse because the hostile propaganda machine works overtime to distort the facts…and then delivers the distortion as “news”. We have to do our own digging…and THEN…fight the distortion when we do get any facts uncovered.

But, if we don’t do it…we will continue to lose ground. And next time it will be harder. And the time after that even harder. Until eventually…there won’t be a next time.

• Bear

The devil is in the details

exactly…most Americans get bored quickly with details. Conspiracy theories gain traction when irrefutable facts as explained, conflict with reality. So what is being hidden and why? It’s not the Obama deception that worries me…its the implications that run far deeper than the man. You think out of the box as do many here. Inconsistencies matter, understanding why is the question. We live in a competitive world, where to have the ‘edge’ whether its a negotiation or a card game, you conceal your intentions, and look for tells in your adversary…nothing new here, it’s human nature.

15. 15. Big Ben

Just one question…Why did he play it out so long? And does that not say something impressive about Donald Trump? He has been shaking the Tree of Far Left for only a short time and a mighty big apple has fallen. Now…I want to see him shaking the China Currency Tree, the Supply Siders in the RNC, who are hysterical that Trump might take gold mine away. They have been growing rich off of the dismantling and selling of the USA since 1993. Wait until you hear the FoxNews People screetch and bite their lips over Trump daring to say he would put Tariffs on the Chinese for their underhanded trickery. THE CONSTITUTION, WHICH THEY CLAIM TO HOLD SO DEAR, CALLS FOR TARIFFS TO REGULATE TRADE. Trump has them rattle far more than the Democrats. Tune in to Fox. I mean…they thought they had it sewed up for 2012. Then Ryan riled the Seniors..and here comes Donald Trump. I say..GO DONALD. They are all a pack of Economic Traitors. And what are we doing in Libya? Anothr question Trump dares to ask!

16. 16. Big Ben

Paul Ryan for President? The guy who gives the Pentagon more than they ask for $$$$$$$$, so they can fight endless wars and “non-wars”, who KNOW CORPORATIONS CONTRIBUTE ONLY 4% OF THE TOTAL INCOME TO THE USA..WHILE SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE TAXES CONTRIBUTE 25%..ONLY ONE POINT LESS THAN THE I.R.S.,,,the guy who gives the UBER RICH another 10% tax cut so they can outsource the few jobs left in the USA and hire illegal aliens for the rest. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME A RICH PERSON GAVE YOU FREE MONEY..WHEN IT TRICKLED DOWN ON YOU LIKE RAIN. SUPPLY SIDERS..ARE ECONOMIC TRAITORS..THEY HAVE DESTROYED THIS NATION IN 18 SHORT YEARS…IMHO.
Seniors vote. Fox news is not showing Republican Town Halls but other channels are…Ryan……is now the albatross around the necks of the Republicans. There is NO fairness in his cuts.NO shared sacrifice..ther is a mean spirited hitting of those he thinks too weak to fight back.

• Brad

You sir, need an economic education!

One idiotic point you TRIED to make but FAILED to make.

Corporations may pay 4% tax, but it really doesn’t matter from a disposable income perspective of the American people. I assume you want to royaly screw all corporations and make them pay their FAIR SHARE! (As all moronic demand siders do!) Go ahead, but know this, they won’t be paying the increased taxes, we will! They will simply pass the costs on to us in the form of increased prices for goods and services, lower wages and benefits for employees and lower share holder equity – This is your 401K in case your too stupid to realize it!

Then you complain that social security and medicare contribute 25%, without even considering that 45% of that total is paid by your evil corporations! (Besides, your numbers are all bunk, here are the actual revenue sources: Income taxes 45%, Corporate Income taxes 12%, Excise taxes 3%, Other sources 4%, Payroll taxes, of which social security and medicare are a part 36%)

Pull your head out and get your facts stright before you start whinning like the liberal/progressive/socialist crybaby that you are.

• daxypoo

“rich people” are supposed to give us free money?

what is free money?

who are rich people?

who is paul ryan hurting?

how is he hurting them?

supply siders have destroyed the nation in 18 years?

am i missing something?

what’s going on?

• jarmo

“…..KNOW CORPORATIONS CONTRIBUTE ONLY 4% OF THE TOTAL INCOME TO THE USA.”

I second Brad. You know zilch about economics.

The US has one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world. Most countries want their corporations to have a low tax rate so that they can attract businesses to their countries. Some of our businesses are going overseas because of lower tax rates and wages there. It’s because of our tax laws, instituted by our representatives in Congress, that allow some businesses to not pay income taxes. Out tax codes allow for deductions. Take Exxon-Mobile for example: they payed about $9 billion in foreign income taxes. They payed about $79 billion in all foreign taxes. They payed zero federal income taxes, because our tax laws allow foreign taxes to be deducted. But, they payed about $7 billion in local and state taxes. Plus look at all of the thousands of American workers they hire. You can make them pay minimum federal taxes, but that will probably result in higher costs of gasoline, oil, plastics, and all other products relying on those items for their manufacture.

17. 17. Steve

I just downloaded the pdf of the long form and was able to select the text and move it separate from the background. The background underneath the text is not clean. It also has some ghostly markings. Is this layering normal in a pdf of a scanned document?

• John davies

I tried and couldn’t move the text. What are you doing?

• Steve

I opened the file with Adobe Illustrator. If you zoom in and look at the pdf closely, the final digit (a ’1′) in the upper right corner has been ‘enhanced.’ There are many such changes throughout the document. It is very strange and raises the question why they would submit as proof a manipulated image.

18. 18. Gharin

Oh yay, he presented a true copy certified this week by a supporter of his.
Let me say this, I have had in my possession for years now, my certified original long form certificate. I have kept one around for all the various legal things. I have traveled as much as Barack Obama and had passports and all the various things you need for traveling outside the USA. Since I have had a passport for many years and had to renew them once or twice, there is always a certified copy that is available and it is stamped with a very old date from the state certifier.
It is funny that a guy that traveled that much in his youth, with his parents, as a college student, as a Senator, as a candidate, that he would not already have this long form certificate in his possession and certified from many years previous. If I showed you mine now, the date on the certification would not be from this week, and the last time I left this country was in 1992. Yet, still, my certified copy is dated much earlier than this week. Smells funny to me.
And in the spirit of transparency, let’s now see all the records and all the grades and transcripts that were so important for George Bush and John Kerry to show just a few years ago.
This guy is such a shill.

• Joshua Scholar

“It is funny that a guy that traveled that much in his youth, with his parents, as a college student, as a Senator, as a candidate, that he would not already have this long form certificate in his possession and certified from many years previous.”

No it’s not.

Hawaiian law about birth certificates is unusual and it is the actual source of this silly conspiracy theory.

By Hawaiian law, your birth certificate is meant to be kept on file and not publicly available or even reproducible. The shorter certificate of live birth that Obama originally released is what Hawaiians get as a publicly available and reproducible document.

The president is actually breaking Hawaiian law by releasing a reproduction of his original long form.

• Civility

“By Hawaiian law, your birth certificate is meant to be kept on file and not publicly available or even reproducible.”
Is that a reference to the policy introduced in 2001? What about the 40 years preceding it?

• TrickleUpPolitics

Exactly, Civility. In fact, Hawaii passed that law after Obama was elected because of the flood of requests for his birth certificate.

19. 19. Diamond

It ain’t over til it’s over!!!

20. 20. Bilgeman

The question is now what was the big deal about this document that Obama refused to release it, and went to great expense to keep it from being released for two and a half years.

The answer will be the true teachable moment.

Do not, DO NOT play games with the American People.

A lesson for Mr. Obama to ponder in the years following his retirement in 2013.

21. 21. Skeptic dog

The certificate may be real – Obama is the fake. Teachable moment is never elect someone without a background check as you might with your babsitter or city dog catcher . This investigation of course would take someone more reliable and honest than most in the media. Also would be helpful to have a curious citizenry. Not likely.

22. 22. Ione

The only thing I regret is that this was always and only blamed on Pres. Obama when it should have been blamed on the whole Democratic Party, especially the leadership. It is up to the political parties to vet their candidates before they are put on any ballot. I don’t care if it is Sherriff or President (if it is a non-partisan race it is up to the County Clerk).

When there was a question on John McCain’s citizenship it had to go to a court of law. He was born in the Panama Canal on U.S. property so therefore a natural citizen. How hard was that?

So the real lesson here is: It is obvious the Democratic Party is completely incapable of governing the most basic elements of running a political party. If they can’t do that, how in the heck could anyone expect they could run a country where lives are at stake?

That’s the lesson.

23. 23. Dwight

Well, that goofy interlude is over.

But the China question is not. Is it a problem if Trump is the kind of guy who says, “I’d slap a 25% tariff on Chinese goods if…” as opposed to “The question of tariffs may have to be brought to the table if…” The latter way is how adults do it, even if it does not get quite as much attention as the over-the-top response.

If Trump is smart enough to understand what is happening to us because of international trade issues, and smart enough to be able to do something about it, shouldn’t he be smart enough to frame the question the right way? Or are the Chinese really responsive to bluster, in ways which might help us? I don’t think so, but stranger things have happened. The Russians, evidently, really believed that we could do an effective SDI.

24. 24. Alex Bensky

Roger, I am such an admirer of your work that I feel downright churlish in pointing out that the press is not disinterested in certain aspects of Obama’s life; they are uninterested. A disinterested press is a consummation devoutly to be desire and a highly unlikely development.

25. 25. TexEd

Wait a minute! This version is dated 4/25/11. In one of the Kenyan’s books, I’m told, he talks about finding his birth certificate folded in a drawer. That’s the one I want to see.
Hasn’t Hawaii spent the past two months telling us that such a document is impossible to be released?
Did the Kenyan use the same forgers that Rather used?

26. 26. Bob

Interesting. Back in 1961 I do not recall ever referring to “African” as a race.

• Marc Malone

Exactly. I was born the same year. Mine says ‘white’ for my Mother. For my Father, too. (But my Father was not white. They just put down what this dark brown person told them.)

Back then, they spoke in terms of black and white, not African and Caucasian. They did list things like Indian (now Native American, which is what they should have listed for my Father). Also Mexican or the like was used as a term. (My Father did not want to be listed as Mexican.)

A long time ago, they used to specify Italian or Irish or the like, I am told, but I was not alive then.

So, get some other birth certificates from Hawaii issued from around that time. See if they used ‘White’ or “Caucasian’, ‘Black’ or ‘African’.

I think he is now trying to make this go away. It is win-win for him now. Even if this is a fraud, he wins. He gets to be all smug and justified. When the fraud is accused, he gets to say that these ‘nuts’ can never be satisfied. Even if they are right and he is a fraud, he marginalizes them further.

Hardball politics.

27. 27. dmacleo

this does not, and never has, mattered.
what matters is the dual citizenship (which he has stated in book and speeches) which is now proven.
its always been about the natural born citizen and dual citizenship issue.

• Bob

I agree completely. I don’t care if he was born on live TV.

Section 1 , Article 2, United States Constitution:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

As I understand it, that means you need two parents who were also born here, and also are U. S. citizens. 0 has only one, his mother. His father was born a British subject (kenya) and never became a U. S. citizen, not for one moment.

If my interpretation is correct, then he should not be president. (I am an independent, by the way).

28. 28. will

Are we supposed to beieve this and go on and play like good little boy’s and girl’s ? The whole thing stinks to high heaven !!

29. 29. carter

The release of the birth certificate coincides with Terry Larkin’s release from prison. Barry has hurt alot of people with his poor judgment on this issue.

30. 30. mjs_pa

Amazing as it might seem, birthers can walk and chew gum at the same time.

We have attacked bho from every conceivable angle from legitimacy to every aspect of governing and policy. When rino’s and republicans were willing to throw in the towel and go-along to get-along, it was birthers who led the unending and tireless charge to defend America. This was never a single issue movement.

This birth certificate doesn’t answer the question concerning “natural born citizenship”. And it most certainly does’t address the cornucopia of other questions about this most “un-American” of all presidents.

31. 31. big bob

For him not to understand WHY we all wanted to see this, assuming it is valid, is to show how un-American this guy really is. Anyone who wants the Constitution to be our guiding document would want to go overboard to ensure a position such as the President of the United States is correctly vetted and documented. He should have wanted that too. Clearly he didn’t. He was showing contempt to us, the American citizens. He has NOTHING but contempt for us. That is not news.

32. 32. M. Report

The JFK assassination was the act of a lone gunman,
or a conspiracy by persons unknown, depending on which
Blue Ribbon government investigatory panel you choose
to believe.

Lesson 1. If it looks too good to be true, it
almost always is a lie told by a politician,
which will go unpunished and probably unnoticed;
Have Obama’s supporters had their lives ruined
by the contradiction between what they promised,
and what he has in fact done ?

Lesson 2. Criticizing your opponent for the things
the voters want him to be guilty of is a winning move;
‘What is Truth ?’ ask the politicians, and wash their hands.

33. 33. 11B40

Greetings:

At the risk of appearing contentious and certainly being slightly off-topic, I would like to make a comment about the now proverbial “teaching moment”.

When I first became aware of this concept, I understood it to mean the point in time when the student expressed his interest in being taught. His curiosity had be piqued and he was desirous of acquiring new information from the mentor. It now seems to me that the concept has morphed into a meaning of when the teacher assesses that the student is in need of new, more, better information. It may be a small, perhaps inconsequential change, not uncommon in a living language, but the “locus of control” in interpersonal communications can be a predictor of the likelihood of the information being used in the future or even retained.

34. 34. Dr. Frank Lippenheimer

What a ridiculous president. It took The Donald to make him prove he has a license. And he waited to the last second to try to head off the Trump presser.

But, of course, this thing is far from over. First of all, the document looks forged, but I suspect the Obama people want it to look that way. They actually believe this story makes average folks feel sorry for the schmuck. When in fact it only makes him appear more devious & manipulative. It shows us that he LIKES playing political games. He LOVES hide & seek. What a jackass.

35. 35. carla

Just a second, Simon. The overriding question is why the birth certificate was not released 2 1/2 years ago? Why manufacture an apparent non-existent controversy? Why seal his scholastic records? Why not ask who financed his political career? Our esteemed 4th estate, the mainstream media formed a protective cocoon around Obama, implying that any questioning of his origins, scholastic history, financial enablers, etc, was off limits. Every other candidate is raked over the coals, and no aspaect of their lives is sacrosanct. So the question remains; what is he hiding??

36. 36. Kaboom!

“Now that’s that’s over – let’s try to learn a thing or two from the Birther fiasco,”

Maybe we can bring McCain back for another try, if he agrees not to select Sarah Palin or Donald Trump as his running mate..?

What we know for certain is: (1.) That there is a sucker born every minute and (2.) Obama is a master at sucker snookering.

Liberal Democrats love it; eat it up like candy – almost as good as an old fashioned lesson in how to dispose of blue dresses and wet cigars.

37. 37. daxypoo

what will the moniker tag be for those pressing obama’s school records?

schoolers?
transcripticists?

trump should raise all the questions about obama all at once to counter
the msm’s alinsky shuffle attempting to isolate and ridicule

maybe trumps press conference in a few weeks will have the donald annointing himself inspector in chief where he will address all the missing links about obama while the repubs can get their act together under the cover of trumps transformation into don quixote

38. 38. oldguy

Now lets see his mother’s birth certificate.

39. 39. RebeccaH

Now I understand why Obama wouldn’t release his birth certificate before now. He was saving it until the election campaign gets into full swing so he could taint the Republicans with the “birther” nonsense. As hard as I shudder at the idea of Donald Trump as a presidential candidate, I have to give him props for forcing Obama’s hand early. On with the College Transcript fight!

• proreason

This is a good point. My first reaction when I heard was Great! It takes that potential sword of damocles off the table. Now we won’t have to worry about the BC appearing as one of little lenin’s October surprises in 2012

40. Why not follow up on the extensive research done on his Selective Service and Social Security numbers?
Seems to be several non sequiturs and mysteries there.
Everybody knows he couldn’t have much merit in his education. He has a learning disability.

41. 41. Marko

Your American president must respond to a unbelievable majority (62%) who aren’t definitely sure he was born in Hawaii. All the world is laughing, again. No surprise that USA is struggling. So this is how you run your country? Made in USA, are you sure? Wouldn’t buy a paper bag from there. Please go ahead, blame your “Kenyan” President. Hilarious!

• Cybergeezer

Glad to provide you with a little entertainment. Your english very good!
By the way; Which country are you posting from? Do you ever have anything to laugh at there?
If it weren’t for the good ole USA, what country would you be posting comments to?

• Feel free to stop using American products/inventions at any time, starting with Internet and antibiotics.

• SilenceDoGood

Hey, Marko:

We have a Consitution and it defines eligibility. One must be a “natural born Citizen” in order to be POTUS/CIC. This issue is one of Consitutional law and it is being played out in front of the world. No secrets to hide. We are proud to say that we are a nation of laws and not men.

BTW, what’s your Consitution? And I might add that if the US ceases to be a nation of laws, then your country (wherever that may be)and mine and the world will be a very dark place indeed.

• Bill Johnson

And your country is what? I’m sure you’re proud of it, why not let us in on just who you are. And hey, don’t like us, leave us alone. We told the Brits that.

I’m telling you.

42. 42. Willys

? Teachable moment ?

Will the press have learned that if they had done this three or four years ago their man would have had no issue to defend?

The MSM has cost Obama more than their reliability.

43. 43. Bart

How strange is it that for several years, Obama’s birth certificate has been protected from public view as if it were a “Top Secret – Clearance Required – Eyes Only” document. But, when Donald Trump, a self promoting loquacious irritant, made waves in the news by making claims he didn’t believe Obama was born in the US, after a couple of weeks dominating the news, the birth certificate appears.

If the White House has been so concerned about the “public fuss” over the birth certificate, why wait until a well known sycophant developer and reality show host questions it before relenting and releasing it to the public? Why not produce it when the question was first raised by Hillary Clinton during the primaries?

While I never believed the “birther” crap and the “mystery” is solved, I asked myself if this was some sort of mind game Obama was playing with the public, Republicans in particular? Was he giving “the finger” to America all along by continuing to refuse authorizing release of the certificate? Was he enjoying and encouraging the ever widening rift between the parties and Americans in general?

What is the character of this man who knew the importance of the issue all along and refused to silence the conspiracy theorists so he could garner support he needed to pass his legislation agenda?

I have never liked a smug, factious smart-ass. To me, this was something a narcissistic, self-indulging, elitist jerk would do as a joke, laughing to himself all along, sharing it with his inner circle. Now, he has the “audacity” to chastise America and the press for concentrating on something he could have resolved in the beginning.

The “Donald” is now on his trail to release his grades and transcripts from Harvard and Columbia. How soon can we expect to see the transcripts released to the press so the issue can be “put to rest” and avoid further distraction from the important work of the government?

Has this country been the object of a mind game and joke played by the man elected to the most powerful office in the world? If it is, I, for one, am not laughing or amused. After speaking to several friends and receiving emails from others, the feeling is mutual.

This may backfire on Obama.

• Charlie

“This may backfire on Obama.”

Already did. As someone who gave little thought to the whole Birther thing until the last few months, I cannot agree with Mr Simon.

Obama’s delay in putting his official BC forward allowed many unfavorable associations to grow about him in my mind, and apparently in the minds of almost two-thirds of the American public–his anti-Americanism, his lack of transparency, his feeling of being above the rules, his possible intent of using this as a “gotcha,” and more.

He may be trying to spin this as a win with a Clintonian “gotta get back to work for the American people” thrown in, but the bottom line is he, with Trump’s help, got virtually all of America to think long and hard about his legitimacy. Well over half decided maybe he doesn’t have much.

So if all that matters is if a person is born on American soil.

Osama Bin Laden can impregnate an American girl, who then has a child in the USA, who is then taken to a muslim country for his youth and indoctrinated. The child returns to the USA sometime after being indoctrinated and the indoctrination continues in America. That child can then when reaching the age of thirty five become president of the USA?

Somehow I just don’t think that is the proper interpretation of a “natural born” citizen…

46. 46. JL

“…since it became evident to everyone with his head screwed on that Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK all by himself.”

What was Oswalds motive again?

Why did a Chicago mobster kill Oswald?

Why did Sam Giancana shortly before the assassination tell his brother that they were gonna kill JFK and that they had completed the planning?

Roger, you are not clever or rational. You are merely overly trustful of authorities… And you are arrogant.

47. 47. tanstaafl

I’ve always been interested in seeing Obama’s academic record.

Particularly since we have been relentlessly subjected to people like Valerie (“still surviving in the depleted inner circle”) Jarrett saying things like…”He knows exactly how smart he is…He’s been bored to death his whole life. He’s just too talented to do what ordinary people do.”

Or David (“ohhhh, that crease in Obama’s pants!”) Brooks saying…

Stuff like this

Granted, Val and David aren’t exactly the last word in who is or isn’t smart and academic records aren’t necessarily completely reflective of intelligence…but, showing Obama’s academic transcripts might shut up the Obama sycophants for a day or two.

(And that alone would be worth it !)

And there is the mystery of this “groomed” candidate getting into Harvard and the question of whether his prior academic record supports that.

48. 48. proreason

Why is Mr. Simon pitching this as validation of cowardly rinos instead of a triumph for the only guy who has been able to make the marxist squirm?

The story that the country cares about is that FINALLY, after 3 years of hiding that one small corner of his past, little lenin has had to produce 1 document from his hidden past.

Now onto the rest of it; who wrote the books, what were the noted genius’ grades and SATs, how did he get into the most prestiguous college in the world, why did he give up his law license, why doesn’t he have any associations with people who aren’t radicals, what did he do while he was at Columbia, what did he do on his long-hidden Pakistan trip, was he an Indonesian citizen at one time and did he revoke that citizenship, who were his donors in 2008, why hasn’t he come clean on the Rezko deal, etc., etc., etc.?

In addition to, of course, why has he pursued policies that have long been known to be failures at reviving economies, and why is he enacting a foreign policy that makes the US a second-class power.

Those two lines of inquiry are inextricable related.

• Bear

He gave up the BC so he wouldn’t have to continue the silliness of disclosing more of his past…makes you wonder if we were played…maybe not wonder if but how since the BC only confirms he was born a citizen to one American parent. It seems obvious that both parties agreed not to play this up during the election given McCain being born out of country and possibly not Natural born either. If the BC issue was really about the process of his getting on the ballot in Hawaii and the timeline of events of his eligibility certification, then it was certainly undermined by the obsession with the BC. In any event, its not the most important issue with respect to O, but his ability to retain the trust of the entire nation will be gradually undermined if people question more regarding his motives.

• Bob

An excellent list, sir. Allow me, if I may, to add a few more questions to that list:

Why does his half-sister have a Hawaiian birth certificate when she freely states that she was born in Indonesia in 1970?

When did he change his name back to Obama from Soetero, and why wasn’t it noted on his birth certificate?

Did he have Indonesian citizen status at any time? (This would also disqualify him from the Presidency).

Why did he use a Connecticut Social Security # up until the time that he was a U.S. Senator, despite never having been a resident or worker there?
(This is a felony, by the way, if it is true).

I am sure that there are others…

I think that the Don is playing with him. Trump is, if nothing else, an expert and cutthroat negotiator.

Basic technique is to ‘frame’ the issue on your terms. Trump has done that here. Then you want to see how far the other party will go. Again, he forced Obama to reveal something personal that he didnt want to before. Trump now knows something about his opponent that he did not before.

Now who owns who? The grades are really a non issue but he will push that to see if he can get more. It is like an interrogation where you start with something simple “tell me your name” even if you know it already, then you keep going.

Trump loses nothing. He just sits back and says well I wanted to see the documents and now I did.

53. 53. Subotai Bahadur

Just came online and have not had time to examine the released document myself. Some comments above point out possible discrepancies. I will await further examination, but have to note the following points:

The credibility of Buraq Hussein Obama on this subject is far from unimpeachable.

This question did not spring forth full formed from the forehead of Zeus.

During the 2008 campaign, the issue was brought up by … the Hillary Clinton campaign; fruitlessly it seems. Shortly thereafter, the Obama campaign’s surrogates began agitating for proof that McCain was a natural born citizen, having been born in Territory of the United States Panama Canal Zone. Reams of documentation were released by McCain and the questions about him were put to rest. But that turned attention to BHO.

A short form birth certificate was released online by the Obama campaign; and promptly vouched for by all the usual suspects in the media and left wing NGO’s [including FactCheck which is owned by the same Annanberg Foundation who subsidized Obama’s early career. The problem with that was that the form was shortly shown not only NOT to be a Hawaii birth certificate, but in fact was a fake available for sale on the internet.

Shortly thereafter, another short form was released. Yes it was a proper form for Hawaii. But no, it was not the form in use at the time of BHO’s birth. While it had the embossed seal, it lacked another security measure to indicate validity. When a copy is released by the Registrar’s Office; it has a date stamp on the back with ink designed specifically to bleed through to be visible as a negative on the front. This certificate did not have such, and there were indications that the text had been altered on a computer. All the same right thinking people in the media and NGO’s promptly vouched for the authenticity of the second certificate. And I am sure that they will vouch for this, and any further versions that may be released in the future.

I will wait until independent researchers not affiliated with the Democratic party, BHO, OFA, or various Leftist foundations have had a look.

At #14 Mr. Simon worries about those who have doubts about Obama’s background fixating solely on that, to the exclusion of his policies. I respectfully submit that those with those doubts are more cognizant of the harm his policies are doing to this country than most. Just as American patriots worried about the Soviet Union did not fixate only on say the Berlin Blockade, to the exclusion of everything else from 1917 on; American patriots now are not going to ignore the other acts of this enemy of our country. This is just another front in the war.

54. 54. lolly

I still don’t believe he’s a natural born citizen. His mother was not old enough to transfer citizenship (she was underaged) and his father was a British subject.

As to the new cert – back in the 60′s they would have listed the father’s race as n egro – NOT african.

With all that said – it doesn’t matter. Congress will not impeach (the only way to remove a sitting president) and the only way to get rid of him is to vote him out of office. Period!

• lolly

PS – My thing is that I’ll bet you dollars to donuts that he got his scholarship as a foreign student (indonesian) and is guilty of fraud. Definate character flaw.

What is this blithering nonsense about not being old enough to transfer citizenship? Cite a statute or a case, people.

55. 55. Brad

Let’s clear the air a bit

Do I think Obama’s eligibility to serve as President matters? Absolutely!

Do I think Obama’s grades and admissions records matter? Absolutely!

Do I think Obama’s failure to produce either for 3 years is an issue? Absolutely!

Do I think things like character, common sense, a belief in the constitution, liberty and freedom matter? Please, most readers of PJM do!

Sadly, what matters to those of us who are constitutionally oriented, who feel that freedom and liberty are the primary measuring sticks when evaluating our candidates, simply don’t matter to the electorate in the aggragate.

If they did, Clinton would never have been elected. Carter would never have been elected. Obama would never have been elected. Same with Reid, Pelosi, Gore, Kerry and far too many RINO’s to list.

What does matter to the electorate, in the aggragate, are policy issues. Sadly, the left wing nut media and demoratic party have no boudaries they aren’t willing to cross where truth, common sense, what works and what doesn’t work come in to play. The American people are not properly educated in our schools on these issues and they are constantly brow beaten by a bunch of knuckle dragging troglidytes that everything that made this country great is a lie!

The problem I have with the focus on the birth certificate, the grades and the transcripts, is that it distracts us from the monumental task of overcoming the constant barrage of left wing indoctrination.

We can only win the contest of ideas by methodically, judiciously and consistently showing where and how the left is wrong. An overt focus on these other matters simply distracts and weakens our ability to overcome the overwhelming odds we face.

Think of it like this. If you had the choice of winning a national argument on whether or not Obama is eligible to be President or the proper way to privatize and eventually phase out Social Security as a Federal government program, which one would you choose. If you said the later, go to the head of the class. If you said the former, congratulations, you’ve won an argument but lost the race!

• Mayberry Lady

Brad,

I’m sure you meant to type aggregate, trogolodyte.

And as I re-read your response, I can’t help but think you’re actually making a pretty good argument for why these eligibility issues would not only be an extremely efficient method of achieving an administration change before it’s too late, but also why they would gain traction with the majority of the electorate, whom you apparently regard as poorly educated and caring little about the more substantive issues that concern you.

• Brad

Mayberry Lady

Two points
1. I think the eligibility tests are a fine and necessary thing to insure prospective candidates are able to legally fulfill the terms of the Constitution. Sadly, the only way to remove Obama at this point is to impeach him on grounds that he is not eligible. You and I both know that once lawyered up, there would be no way to prove he is ineligible in time to stop him from running in 2012 and even if we did, a conviction in the house would likely not be followed up with the same in the Senate. One must weigh the evidence at hand, the liklihood of acheiving the goal and the political cost of doing so before proceeding. For Obama, the proverbial cat is out of the bag I am afraid. That being said, I think it a marvelous idea to have eligibility test for all future candidates.

2. If the electorate took the time to educate themselves on the issues and the candidates, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. So yea, I don’t think too highly of a people who twice elected Clinton and may twice elect Obama. I think the fact that they were and are the President of the US answers your question.

Finally, thanks for the spell check, never my strongest suit.

56. 56. rjh

Assuming the released document is valid, and I hope it is for our country’s sake, exactly how does this make the people who demanded to see it appear foolish. What does it say about the character of a person (obama) who would play games like this while occupying the White House for over two years? What does this say about the integrity of the people (i.e. the press and “news” people) that abetted the the perpetration of this fiasco for over two years. Most importantly, what does it say about the poorest excuse for a “man” I have ever seen play Commander in Chief while allowing the imprisonment and destruction of the career of LtCol Lakin while he “was amused” with his silly, immature stunt. No, Mr. Simon, to any thinking person, the real fool in this drama is obama…this will not do him any good in the polls. I was not as concerned about the birth certificate as much as I was about the total secrecy regarding all his other records. Nobody spends so much money and effort unless they truly have something to hide. Since every word that comes out of obama’s mouth is a lie, I must repeat myself: if the document proves to be valid…and no, I do not feel foolish.

57. 57. Mayberry Lady

Bravo, M. Bahadur,

Thank you for making the point that folks distressed by this issue are likely to be among those most savvy about the destructive policies of this POTUS ! As any fool can plainly see, those issues are far more complex to address and will take years, if ever, to undo—and the country is running out of time because we’re flat busted broke. The eligibility issue provides an arguably shorter and more efficient route to achieving a desired end, and given our emergent circumstances, only a fool would dismiss its worthiness out of hand. No one is misguided for holding suspicions about this man, and anyone who abets the marginalizing of those who do is sabotaging the right of the people to debate the qualifications of their leaders. Please tell me what is more important that that bedrock principle. Can you site anyone else in history who has gone to the trouble and expense (approaching $2M, all of it our money) this man has to hide the paper trail of his entire life from view? There’s even recent news that he doesn’t even have direct ownership of the residence his family has inhabited in Hyde Park. The real question is why the mainstream media have colluded in not relentlessly bulldogging all of this. They went after Palin like she was a Salem witch, for heaven’s sake, and still won’t leave the issue of her youngest son’s parentage alone.

This release proves nothing. The issue is his eligibility, based on the need for both parents to have been American citizens. If anything, this document casts further doubt on that fact. But BHO is counting on nobody’s having the balls to continue the eligibility quest in any way shape or form from this point on, and as the bludgeoning of those who’ve had the outrageous temerity to question Obama’s status with the racist club escalates on the steroids he’s just fed the jackal pack, he will probably prove to have been accurate in his hunch. But just to hedge his bets, his timing indicates he’s for some reason ready for that issue to go forward now, unlikely as that may be, because the timeline is for some reason more propitious. In light of the surprising recent decision of the SCOTUS to decline the request by 28 states, is it (even at 57 that’s half of them !!), to fast track the constitutionality of using the Commerce Clause to legitimize Obamacare, costing the country what is likely to be billions of potentially wasted dollars that we clearly do not have, in the interim, it seems plain they’ve somehow been softened (sweetened?) up to play any cards they’re dealt from now on his way.

So no, we’re neither paranoid, nor fatuous, nor crazy. Simply no one has ever been given a free pass to the extent this guy has. The question remains, WHY?????

58. 58. David W Nicholas

One of my favorite TV movies, of all time, was the 2-hour pilot of Starsky & Hutch. I know, it was a bit much as a TV series, but the pilot was very good, and had an interesting mystery as the main plot. Starsky, of course, drove the showy hot rod car, and the story started with a kid parking with his girlfriend in a similar car, which he’d stolen. The two of them were killed by professional hit men. The assumption everyone had was that Starsky was the intended target, and as the show went on the hit men tried to kill them a couple of times. When they described the hit men to various informants, they always got the same response: “Yeah, I know a pair of guys like that, but they wouldn’t miss.” After hearing that twice, Starsky gave Hutch this long explanation of being a high school linebacker, covering a wideout, and when he heard the crowd gasp in a particular way he knew he’d been suckered, and the guy was running a fly pattern to catch a bomb. I think I just heard the same noise from the crowd here, and I think I know what’s going on. The Democrats just chose their preferred Republican candidate for the 2012 election.

Think about it for a second. Why release this now? Hilary always looked weak against Obama (and remember, her people were the ones who started the birther thing, back during the Democratic primary in’07-’08) but if they’d really wanted to settle this then, it apparently just takes a request and a couple of days to get the paperwork, and you’re done. They didn’t do it then, they didn’t do it during the campaign when various people brought it up, they didn’t do it when he got elected, they let it fester, making many Republicans look foolish for bringing this up. They stoutly resisted releasing the long form, at some points insisting that it didn’t exist, at others asserting that it couldn’t even be released to Obama. When Neil Ambercrombie was elected and then inaugurated as the new Governor of Hawaii back in January, he said out loud that he wanted to make the document public, and the Obama people said nothing, essentially quashing the idea. Then Donald Trump rides in from stage left, making a fool of himself and much of the Republican party. Does anyone seriously believe this guy, with that hair, is going to be taken seriously as a Presidential candidate? He’s arrogant, clumsy, and likely to be terribly inexperienced as a Presidential candidate, let alone a President…he’s never run anything *in government* before, and it’s very different from running a company, where he’s made a name for himself saying “You’re fired” every week on that stupid TV show. Think about it, seriously. If you’re David Axelrod, Plouffe, that Emmanuel character (I know he’s Mayor of Chicago now, but they’ve been planning this for some while), and you want to try and maneuver things so that you get the *least* effective Republican candidate, who do you choose? Romney? Palin? Gingrich? Jindal? Barbor? any of the other governors, hell, Michelle Bachman? Or the host of a reality show with a hair style that draws comments from just about everyone because of its ludicrous nature? I think the answer is obvious: they want Trump to run, so after everyone else brings this up, or dodges the question (and the Dems and their friends in the media have made sure every Republican at least got asked the question, unlike the Dems with the issue of the Truthers, as a for instance) they release the document because Trump asked for it. Trump looks even more like an idiot, but he also to some Republicans looks like he’s the one who can get things done. He did *nothing* that other Republicans haven’t tried in the past, and there was *no* reason for them to release this now, as opposed to 3 years ago. But Trump gets a boost, and even if he doesn’t eventually win the nomination, whoever does will spend a considerable portion of their campaign warchest pushing The Donald aside. This means that when it comes down to the actual Presidential campaign, it’s going to be Obama’s $1 Billion vs. what, $200 Million for a Republican, maybe less? Anyone think we can win that one?

The key here is to think about this in terms of political tactics. Obama and his crowd are stupid in some ways. Elsewhere on Pajamas there was a discussion the other day about spending stimulus money we borrowed from China to buy turbines from China so that we can hike power rates so that our companies can’t compete…with companies in China. Trust me, they didn’t think that one through, and everything they’ve done is out of desperation or just stupidity. However, in terms of political tactics, Obama and his crowd are very smart. They beat Hillary Clinton for the nomination, and actually did it pretty easily, and she had one of the better political minds of the 20th century, her husband, advising her. And they’ve followed that up by suckering the whole Republican Party, and probably their guy is going to win a 2nd term, unless something drastic happens. Very clever.

59. 59. tanstaafl

“We do not have time for this kind of silliness. We’ve got better stuff to do,” said Obama.

And then heads off to Chicago to do Oprah and, this evening, the third fundraiser in a single month in NYC, once again tying up traffic there.

(Who is paying for all this gallivanting about the nation, in full campaign mode ? Each trip on AF1 has to cost millions. Just recently, our esteemed President was out shaking the money tree in the Bay Area.)

What kind of “silliness” do we have time for in between these jaunts? Finding Easter eggs (excuse me, seasonal spheres) on the WH lawn ? A golf game or two ? Another quick vacay? (poor thing had to cancel a family trip as the budget thing was going down)

Wot me, cynical ?

60. I thought his birth name was Barry Soetero? Where’s the birth certificate for Barry?
Obama is the name taken later; So how could this be an accurate document?
Hawaii became a State in 1959, but, it still has some primitive people and customs to this day. And there are many clans of people there that will not assimilate, no matter what. So, record keeping could still be primitive in many areas, especially just 3 years later.

• David W Nicholas

It’s idiots like this who make the rest of us look bad. Soetero was mom’s 2nd husband’s name, not Obama’s father’s. The father was named Barack Obama too. The Barry Soetero story comes from the supposed fact that this was used, as his name, when they lived in Indonesia. You can look it up.

And Hawaii isn’t that primitive…they have running water and everything, just like they was real folks! Go visit, if you don’t believe me…

• I lived in Kaimuki for two years starting in 1970. Google that, swifty.
You’re just SO intelligent, and resourceful. Why don’t you get your own website? Isn’t this below your ability? Is your sense of humor nerve connected to your sphincter?
I don’t have to do much to make someone like you look bad; You’re doing a splendid job on your own.

• David W Nicholas

You didn’t address my question, instead deciding to concentrate on the fact you lived in Hawaii for 2 years. So what? Obama’s name was still Obama when he was born, and his father was from Kenya, regardless. The whole point to the birther thing is people thinking he was born in Kenya. You think he was born ine Kenya to an *Indonesian* father? That was her *second* husband, not the first…

As to whether I’m smart, or swift, or whatever, and what you are in contrast, I would think that obvious…

Oh, and I never lived in Hawaii, but I visited four times before I was 16, the last time spending a summer there in the mid-70s, so I do know the place a bit. Things were different, and yes the politics were different too, but it wasn’t *that* primitive. Like I said, they had running water and everything.

61. 61. Dr. Frank Lippenheimer

||| “A grown man would have cleared this issue up immediately.”

|||||| As Obama did when he released his birth certificate years ago.

Yeah, right. So why didn’t his spokesidiot point that out in yesterday’s presser when a couple of weenie liberal reporters asked why he wouldn’t simply release the bloody document?

62. 62. KDW

Where exactly is the ‘birther fiasco’? How does the release of
this document hurt Republicans?

To my knowledge, none of the possible candidates for the Republican
Nomination have ever taken up the birther issue. None of the major
conservative radio personalities or pundits have taken up the cause;
the national Republican Party ran away from the issue; no major
Republican politician at the national or state level spent any
time on Obama’s birth certificate. The only prominent personality
in America who pressed the issue is not even really a Republican -
that would be Trump.

If withholding his birth certificate was the masterplan of Obama
to sail thru to re-election, it failed miserably given that he had
to show his hand 1 1/2 years too early for it to do him any good.
In reality Obama looks really stupid. Who in his right mind would
spend over a miilion dollars to block the release of a document
in which all the pertinent information was already well known
to the public? Is it that Obama just likes burning thru cash
(as evidenced by his 1.5 trillion dollar deficits) or was it
just his personal stimulus plan for attorneys.

I’m sure the author is right – voters will look past the high
unemployment, $1.5 trillion deficits and five dollar per gallon
gasoline and happily vote for Obama, secure in the knowledge that
he actually is constitutionally eligible to be the worst President
in American History.

• Dr. Frank Lippenheimer

Firstly, the release does not hurt Republicans in the least. It only hurts Obama, because the immediate question in everyone’s mind is: WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?

Secondly, your final paragraph is really scary.

63. 63. Ray

“People like me who think most conspiracy theories are for paranoids with too much time on their hands can take thirty seconds (max) to gloat.”

Who are you, and what did you do with Roger L. Simon?

The way you speak down to those conservatives who were (justifiably, I feel) concerned about Obama’s eligibility is pretty snarky, Rog, and is more worthy of a HuffPo poster, than someone whom I have respected as a fellow conservative.

Obama releasing his long-form BC was a victory for those concerned about his eligibility to be POTUS. It was just what many have asked him for over the past two years; assuming that the document is authentic, it resolves the question of his birth in Hawai’i. It ALSO provides documentary evidence, as provided by the WH, that Obama’s father was not a US citizen.

Now, how do YOU define “Natural Born Citizen,” in terms of parental nationality?

That is the question which has always needed to be asked, not where Obama was born.

• T. T. Thomas

Ray….’Some’ legal and constitutional scholars ['assume'] the French and British Common Law definition in the absence of a precise constitutional definition. BUT….that conflicts with the constitutions mandate of who is to determine citizenship. The constitution mandates to the federal government, the regulating of naturalization and to the States the remaining two classes of citizenship. Then comes the preciseness of definition argument through the grandfather clause and a myriad of other adversarial arguments to definition.

Congress has long maintained legislative clarification. Some earlier cases were tested through the Supreme Court and some refused by the Supreme Court. NO academic nor judicial scholar with infinite knowledge of the Obama birth rights conspiracy has ever entertained adjudicating the matter and…..with solid constitutional and legal merit understanding.

Its a dead horse except for those conspiracy folks who will keep kicking it until their feet drop off and then start beating it with their fists and so on……

• Michael Rogers

He was born in the US. Whether one or both parents were US citizens doesn’t matter. He’s a natural born citizen and all the states changing their laws will have those laws challenged and they will lose because Hawaii has verified his birth and they have to accept that under full faith and credit.

I have to say I never paid any attention to the ‘birther’ stuff however it seems very odd that Obama Sr’s race is listed as ‘african’. This seems completely anachronistic. At the time the term ‘negro’ would have been used. I believe the book that undermined the old racial classification system wasn’t written until 1962.

You’re right…something folks choose to ignore. To me the whole thing is a misdirection anyway. the guy is a liar and a cheater. I’ve dealt with serial manipulators like him before. The patterns are similar. Everything is plausible until you peel a couple layers of the onion away. Trustworthy people simply don’t hide who they are.
They welcome the challenge and openly confront it, win lose or draw. Unless the handlers won’t let them. And trump has been played. Let’s see what Trump does next.

As a disinterested (no dog in the fight) observer in the GREAT WHITE NORTH…..

This just doesn’t pass the sniff test…but admittedly perhaps at this late momment nothing really will….

The waters have been so roiled and so muddied by the lengthly refusals, the serial forgeries of the short form, and the 2 million$ lawfare to deny disclosure.

For a critical mass, perception is reality…and justifiably so.

Providing this alleged document is just simply too damn late.

This opinion does noty make me a bad person, or a fool….it simply means I have an valid opinion.

Obama threw everyone a “bone” to get us all disinterested in asking about the REAL scandal:

WHY IS HE USING THE ASSUMED SS# OF A MAN BORN IN CONNETICUTT IN 1890 WHO DIED INTESTATE (no heirs) IN HAWAII??? It’s true!!

Of course, things like committing felonies involving Presidents aren’t worthy of REAL investigative journalism…

…unless your name happens to be Nixon!

Btw…he threw a “bone” too, remember the initial tapes he released?

Backfired on Nixon…we see about Obama. He’s got the media on his side this time though….

67. 67. jzsnake

Rodger I was so afraid you were gonna still say that this was a fraud. You are so right. There are so much more important things to worry about. People who are swing voters could give a crap about the birth certificate and it makes moderates think the anti-Obama crowd is full of idiots.

68. THE END OF BIRTHERISM IS PRELUDE TO MORE TRUMPING

When Obama announced the release of his birth certificate yesterday he said that the Birther movement “bemused him.” Bemused him? More like it AMUSED him. Whereas most grownups in his place would have put an end to the “silliness” of Birtherism by quickly releasing solid proof of his US birthplace Obama instead encouraged it while childishly delighting in it. In the spirit of bipartisanship and empathy he allowed the Birther movement to grow and flourish for thirty months for the amusement and pleasure of seeing right wingers grope around in error. Indeed, this was on the same high plane as inviting Paul Ryan and the GOP to a speech on deficit reduction only to humiliate them. It is that disgusting……

Roger Simon,
How about if you do not try to tell us what is or what should be important to us ? Whether you think it would be foolish for people to be involved in what you claim would be some grand conspiracy is irrelevant. We are entitled to see evidence that POTUS is constitutionally qualified, and we do not need lectures from anyone in the media about what is or is not important.

Also, Obama has shown nothing but contempt to the American people on many issues, and this is one of them. That certificate should have been released years ago. We The People are entitled to see it BEFORE he is elected, not years after.

70. 70. RHJunior

GMAFB. Obama was asked to present documentation of his birth– the same as McCain was, the same as several other presidential candidates were over the years— and he balked. For THREE YEARS. To top it off, he went into lockdown mode, strong-boxing every record of the first thirty years of his life. He couldn’t have been acting more suspiciously if he’d been caught standing in the middle of his back yard with a muddy shovel in the dead of night screaming “WHAT DEAD HOOKERS?”

And this man, who by this act has demonstrated his arrogance, his contempt for Constitutional law and his complete untrustworthiness, is running around with the Nuclear Football securely tucked under his arm.

The birthers are not “conspiracy theorists.” They’re the only responsible adults in the room.

Well, that’s the scariest thought that I have heard today.

71. 71. gfh

If I were running for President, in the absence of some particular law, what I would present would be the computer-generated form that Obama presented. That is what the State of Hawaii says is prima facie evidence. One has to PROVE that the information it contains is false.

At that time the State would not have bent its rules for a Presidential candidate just because the candidate asked for a copy of the long form. The question from the State would be WHY? Obama would have given some lame (as far as the Department would be concerned) “because somebody might question the validity of the certified computer-generated form you supplied me”. The Department would have responded, “yeah, right, I heard that one many times before”.

Once the controversy that grew up over time, the Department would then realize how serious/silly people could be. Maybe then Obama could have asked and gotten an exception but that then might be a political decision on his part. Especially in the face of a probability that it would not put the entire issue to sleep.

I am only dealing with the COLB not his school records and such.

Maybe someone can explain, I think it’s the 14th Amendment, why being born in Hawaii does not qualify as natural born citizen given that Hawaii was a State and birth in the US (still) confers citizenship without regard for parental citizenship.

72. OBAMA SPIT IN YOUR FACE WITH RELEASE OF FAKE BIRTH CERTIFICATE!

Scans or photographed items don’t get turned into multi-layered graphical documents when you create a PDF.

But regardless, for him to be ‘natural born citizen’ it requires both parents be citizens.

I think that Obama was waiting to make this a issue during the election and embarrass the birthers and by proxy the RNC. Trump took that issue away from the Obama Campaign allowing the next election to be about issues that matter.

74. it proves something that I’ve long been saying about the supposedly mainstream media. The willingness of the supposedly mainstream media to go to bat for the leftist President while the recent drooling over the mere chance of damaging a center-rightist President cannot be over-emphasized. The case of bias going on here, revealed so clearly over the last two years, is nothing short of spectacular.

Secondly, it shows the president to be an outright liar. Obama’s promise of being the most transparent administration in history kind of goes by the way, when one looks at the question of just why it is that Obama and his people waited two years and spent millions of dollars in legal fees, so that they didn’t have to come up with the real document. As I said elsewhere in this site, what he offered was kind of like carrying a handwritten copy of your driver’s license. Contains the same information, but hardly useful for legal purposes. The leftist defense force (otherwise known as the “mainstream media”) is predictably silent. Or, alternately, they spent a good deal of time making up excuses for his noncompliance.

Another thing it proves is that the honeymoon is definitely over even between Obama and his fellow leftists. This situation will likely help the President with his base…. which has been eroding at a remarkable pace for several months, now…Indeed I suspect it was specifically designed to do so, but people who actually use their head for something other than holding Obama Tatoos will quickly understand that even assuming the question has been answered fully… and I have my doubts on that score… the picture it paints of the honesty of this administration is not at all a good one.

You see, the Administration has been playing this like all the questions about Obama have been answered, and that his supposed mandate now is shown as legit. Well, there’s a number… a large number… of people who have questions. The Birth certificate business is only one of them. As JERRY POURNELLE says:

We have an election coming up. We also have $5/gallon gasoline and $5/loaf bread coming up. I do not expect the real unemployment rate to fall, although there will be frantic attempts to make it look lower, largely through statistical manipulations based on the definition of unemployment: if you’re not looking for work, you aren’t unemployed even if you have no job and never again expect to find one. As more give up looking, the unemployment rate goes down. And since the unions do not intend to lower their wages and perks, and the states are out of money, there will be “furloughs” among public employees including teachers. You can manipulate those numbers so the “furloughed” are not unemployed. It promises to be an interesting summer, but it will end with $5/gallon gasoline and $5/loaf bread. Look for the price of a can of beans to get higher. Look for the price of Top Ramen to rise…

This will continue so long as the current economic and foreign policies continue.

(Always did like that guy)

And guess what? Obama can’t wait two years to answer those questions, even with the press going to bat for him.

75. 75. TrickleUpPolitics

Why did Commander in Chief Obama let one of his military members go to prison and lose his retirement instead of just producing his birth certificate? Shameful.

76. 76. Joe H

It’s for sure not over yet. The copy the White House released is not a copy – it IS a fake. This could be one of the biggest blunder missteps by any President ever. I do a lot of image editing and unless my eye are deceiving me then this is the sloppiest digital forgery ever. Whoever created this apparent forgery really screwed up to say the least. Here are three separate forensics on the document released by the WH and you can be sure there will be a lot more: First one – http://www.patriotactionnetwork.com/video/video/show?id=2600775%3AVideo%3A3732426xgs=1xg_source=msg_share_video Second one – http://shutking.blogspot.com/?spref=tw Third one – http://www.prisonplanet.com/obama-birth-certificate-number-proves-forgery.html

I guess Roger just made me glad I haven’t given any of my money to PJTV, and now I am certain I won’t. I think he insulted me at least three times.

79. 79. Michael Rogers

Well, all of those doubting the authenticity are, quite simply, either racist or crazy as all get out…or both. A good portion of our nation has gone off the deep end and we’re all going to be very ashamed of this in years to come. I’m ashamed *now* that so many of my fellow citizens are wallowing in such nonsense and ignoring reality to such a degree.

80. 80. Michael Rogers

BTW, there was a far better case to be made against McCain in 2008 on this idiotic rule the Founders gave us, but I don’t remember it being an issue from the Democratic side and I don’t remember such self-righteous zeal to prove John McCain wasn’t eligible. I think I know why and it’s the basic American sin of the last 400 years, even if those committing the sin always seem to be offended when it’s pointed out to them.
