Syrians Gunned Down, International Community Yawns

Assad’s not going quietly.  This from the Reform Party of Syria:

Dara’a. An eyewitness on BBC Arabic said that armed units speaking only Farsi descended upon Dara’a. They have smothered the walls of the al-Omari Mosque with their graffiti but several of them were captured. Another witness, Omar al-Masri, said that snipers took positions on rooftops and started shooting. He said Syrians converged in large numbers upon the rooftops and five snipers were captured. Al-Masri, confirmed the other eyewitness, and said that non-Syrians wearing all black were captured in al-Omari Mosque. They spoke only Farsi.  The same eyewitness said that 25 Syrians are known to have died today in Dara’a and that many security people have resigned their positions in As-Sanamyn and Inkhil.

(My comment):  For those of you in Rio Linda, Syrians speak Arabic.  Iranians (and some Afghans) speak Farsi.  So the implicit allegation in this update is that Iranians (probably the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards) are killing the protesters.

I’m beginning to think this whole Arab Spring is actually A Persian Spring. Seems mostly Shia populations with ties to Iran and Hezbollah at the heart of most of these. Just on big cluster fark to keep eyes off Iran maybe?

  2. If the RG thugs are in Syria shooting people, who’s minding the store back in Iran?

First, it is hard when getting shot at to hear people talking. In Germany we would routinely get reports that X armored vehicle drove into a house at night, the didn’t know what kind of vehicle did it, but the driver was black and he was speaking English on the radio.—And we knew that there were none of our units in the area, or that we had a ‘stand down’ that night.

Second, if I was working hard at developing a nuclear bomb, and was in the final stages, something to keep my enemies busy would be useful. Once they have the bomb, I don’t need the idiots anymore.

Intelligence is hard because the little information you can find has to be amplified. Because your enemy knows you will amplify it, they routinely provide false information to you, information on both sides, so they will have people assert that “THE AMERICANS HAVE INVADED!” at the same time that others assert that “THE AMERICANS CAN’T CROSS OUR INFINITE FLAMING BARRIERS!” and you are left with no information, just two false statements at the far corners of the bell shaped distribution.

I like what Instapundit had to say here:
“If Iranian Revolutionary Guards are in Syria, maybe it’s a good time for a revolt in Iran.”

    (Faster, please)

It seems to me “Ghadaffy” has more allies than we thought.

The HEAD terrorist obaMAO is the “brains” (I know, that’s ironic) behind the whole “democracy” protests. His plans are coming together with his moslim brotherhood jihadi sharia buddies. Iran is obaMAO’S buddy also, so no problem there as he went years chastising Iran with stongly worded threats to chastise then in another six months if the didn’t stop the nuclear program. Then again and again…..

See, it’s all Israel’s fault. If it wasn’t for Israel,Muslims would not
be killing Muslims. I forgot. It’s all Bush’s fault, or is global warming? Funny how Arab despots invite non-Arabs to do the killing.

Truth is always the first casualty in conflict. The BBC and Reuters are untrustworthy in the Middle East (to put it mildly)so what allows credence to a report like this? There are more than enough Arabs wiling to kill other Arabs; this report makes no sense. Nonetheless let’s hope it is true because it would signify an internal weakening of the Assad regime.
