Yes, Ron, go ahead and fire him. But that’s only the beginning. The scariest thing about Clapper’s uninformed response to Sue Myrick’s important question is the “secular” bit. But keep in mind that Clapper’s remarks are not his personal opinions; they are the collective judgment of the Intelligence Community. So we’re presumably listening to the same dangerous nonsense that the spooks are giving to our top policy makers. They should all be fired. Everyone who failed to scream “nonsense!” should be fired.

Fire someone? they probably have union protection, and anyway, they have years of precedent on their side. NIA on Iran’s nuclear program. Nobody fired over that. How can we fire them for being stupid/insulated from reality now? Probably written by the same bureaucrats.

This is not really funny to see the DNI mocking our intelligence by stating that the Muslim Brotherhood is secular or that they have eschewed violence, but then, it’s par for the course. For example, Mubarak has been an important part of our Middle East policy for 30 years, the government he has headed has been getting billions of U.S. dollars every year and surprise…he’s supposedly worth $50-$70 BILLION dollars according to some reports. What I’d like to see from any investigator is pictures of his homes all over the world so I can know how close he is to supporting my American ideals. Maybe I’m just a tad cynical but I believe that retired military officer has been wining and dining our diplomats and entrepreneurs for decades on our dime. They’re cheap dates and easy to strip of their concern for a people’s freedom.
Dictator is a high-risk occupation. Most leave office with either a bullet in the back of the head or several billion in Swiss Bank Accounts and a Riviera mansion. As for “reports” of Mubarak’s wealth, they are probably no more accurate than Clapper’s assesment of the Muslim Brotherhood.
