Q: What do you call cutting $2.5 trillion in federal spending over ten years?
A: A good start.
Honestly, the new GOP plan seems timid. We ran up about $2 trillion in new debt just last year. As the economy improves — which, someday, it must? — tax revenues will increase and welfare roles will shrink, helping to close the gap. But we just have too much government, and today’s big reveal doesn’t do much, if anything, to address that fact.
