Durban III: Time for the U.S. to Defund the UN?
When I was a kid, I thought the United Nations was the most righteous and positively idealistic organization in the world. It was the hope of humanity and I worshipped it. (My father — a doctor — volunteered for WHO and I would accompany him to the New York headquarters about once a month, gawking at the colorful Third World costumes and wishing I could speak French, la langue diplomatique.)
Man, times have changed. I now regard the UN as a kind of global racket with three principal, often related, areas of, in Mafia style, special interest: propaganda for totalitarian countries, massive corruption (e.g. Oil-for-Food) and spying.
The latter rose to the fore recently when Wikileaks revealed an email from Hillary Clinton, urging her minions at Turtle Bay to snoop on their fellow diplomats. Quelle surprise, as we would say in the old langue diplomatique. Anyone with the slightest interest in the UN has known for years it was a cesspool of spies, and they also knew, if they had paid even the slightest attention to the invaluable reporting of Claudia Rosett and/or the equally invaluable activism of Anne Bayefksy, that the United Nations is the very model of the proverbial fish that rots from the top.
Also of note in recent years is the UN’s continuing meretricious and power hungry approach to global warming – excuse me, “global climate disruption” – spearheaded by the IPCC. This off-shoot of the international organization has earned a special place in the history of the abuse of science for its manipulation and misrepresentation of data for ideological, bureaucratic and larcenous purposes.
But of all of the despicable malfeasances of the United Nations, nothing surpasses the international body’s mega-Orwellian approach to human rights known as the “World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance,” later shortened to the “World Conference Against Racism” (WCAR), aka Durbans I, II and, now, incredible as it may seem, III.
To return to the langue diplomatique, these events are la vie a l’envers — life upside down. They are the reverse of what they pretend to be and should be labeled the “World Conference for the Promotion of Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance.” I attended Durban II in Geneva – you can see some reports here and here — and I can say personally that I have never seen anything as quite literally insane. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was the keynote speaker of a human rights conference.
The whole thing virtually broke down when several European delegates walked out on the Iranian despot in the midst of one of his predictable anti-Semitic screeds (the US, despite some equivocation, had ultimately declined to go in the first place). UN officials ran and hid from the media after this debacle and you would think they wouldn’t want to repeat such a disgrace but… here they go again with Durban III this September… and in New York, of all places.
These events (I, II and, most probably, III) are basically Festivals of Anti-Semitism, and the UN membership — a substantial portion anyway — just can’t stop themselves from doing it again. It’s pathological, really. They pay lip service to the idea the anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism, but this notion has become increasingly risible. UN attention to tiny Israel (still with under eight million population — less than L.A. county) is nearly as big as all other states combined. Why is that? By 1992 alone there were 65 resolutions concerning Israel. By January 2009, this number rose to 225. All these resolutions are largely led by Islamic states that are basically judenrein, although many of them had substantial Jewish populations in the past.
It’s a black comic moral travesty and our money is paying for it.
Yes, yes, I know the U.S. is continually in arrears to the UN, but we are by far its biggest donor. We are paying for these Festivals of Anti-Semitism (why not go the whole nine yards and throw in some KKK cross-burnings while we’re at it?)
Meanwhile, we are in the midst of a financial crisis. Earmarks are bad enough, but money for conferences featuring the likes of Ahmadinejad, spewing hate? At least a “bridge to nowhere” is a bridge.
Enough already. When the new Congress comes in in January, they should move to defund the UN if they persist in promoting these proto-fascistic conferences that have more to do with Wansee than they do with human rights. We elected them to cut the budget. They should start with the UN.

Non-political agencies like the WHO are worth keeping around. The rest of it, the General Assembly, the Security Council, the IPCC, etc. are as useless as tits on a boar…and always were.
How much value can an organization which, from day one, gave absolute veto power to a mass-murdering thug like Stalin have?
Would you join a club like that?
We never should have been in it, and we ought to bail out ASAP, which pretty much means right now.
Absolutely. The Republicans in the House, led by conservatives and Tea Partiers, can defund ANYTHING they wish. Indeed, they have that responsibility in these difficult economic times. No spending that is not essential.
Dave if you are going to kill something like a tree or a bush you have to kill at it`s all roots, everything. If you do not get it all it can and will grow back, same as the UN.
Right, we should never have been in the UN, much less have anything to do with members coming to our country.
However, we will “not” be leaving any time soon.
Too much money and egos involved now. Not gonnA happen
Even WHO is wasteful and corrupt. Much more gets spenr on compensation, pensions, and conferences than actually making people healthier. When I worked in an African capital that was a regional center for WHO, I saw more of their employees on the golf course than in villages.
Yes! Amen! A thousnd times yes, and while we’re at it let’s turn the UN building into a shoping mall.
Let an entrepreneur purchase it and decide whether or not to turn it
into a shoppping mall.
“Durban III: Is it time for the US to defund the UN?”
Simple question, simple answer…
YES!
http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/sixty-five-years-of-circling-the-drain-happy-birthday-un/
Roger,
Nothing will happen while the Islamist appeaser in chief is in the White House.
What we should do is send a naval destroyer up the East River and use the UN building for target practice, with the diplomats in it. (We can discreetly tell the diplomats of friendly nations not to be there that day.)
He can’t sign a spending bill he doesn’t receive.
Your words would be well received but for your ugly comments about our wonderful American President. You’re a fool!
“Wonderful”: could not possibly be a adjective attached to the name of Barack Hussein Obama. In two years he hasn’t done One Exercise worth while. Everything he has done totally wrong and harmful to our economy. Obama is inept, and because he is inept, he is dangerous. Moses
Bryna, you need to stop playing with your Obie doll.
Merde! Les barbarians! Defunding the United Nations WOULD take guts. But the ensuing mudstorm in the MSM might get Americans to actually pay attention to what that org does.
I predict the Republicans will lack the guts but the tea partiers hold the power and I just hope they realize it before they become beltway acclimatized.
WHO is apolitical? Who knew?
The UN Wansee Conference! Yes, indeed. Forget Durban. This is the UN Wansee Conference.
It absolutely seriously and logically makes less sense than Alice In Wonderland. And “sensible” people go with it, live it, endorse it?
It does not seem there is really much hope for the world when reality-inversion rules and is the accepted norm.
Great John B
Durban III = Wannsee IV
Very misleading head…the time is past due to defund this organization. Small areas of worth can well be resurrected at international meetings but even the WHO is corrupt, led by over rated under talented functionaries.
Yes please. Defund and deport. And in the meanwhile, New York can go a long way toward fixing their deficit by towing and selling diplomatic cars that have traffic and parking tickets.
Yes, and blow up the building.
Blow it before they empty it out.
Here’s the problem: defunding the UN means acknowledging the geopolitical reality that states are not equal and that states are either what Philip Bobbitt (“Terror and Consent”) calls states of consent or states of terror. Dealing with states of terror (sanctions, military interventions etc.) requires that states of consent act in concert and that the US be the leader, there being no other state who has the power and the might. It also means that states of consent can no longer enjoy the opaque sovereignty (Bobbitt’s term) on which China insists – i.e. “what goes on behind our borders is our business.”
Hence, defunding the UN means not only that the US be prepared to take up the leadership position (doubtful under this administration), it also means that the states of consent will also have to abandon the nation state notion that sovereign states have equal clout (one of the key principles of the UN), the notion that allows the disgruntled such as France to carve out influence.
Consequently, until such time as the cost and inconvenience (TSA anyone?) and suffering in key states of consent reach critical levels and they are prepared to develop new protocols and agreements, muddling along with UN will probably continue.
Rhetorical question? WAY PAST TIME.
Consider the history of the UN. WHEN is was established. WHERE it was organised. WHO the driving forces of its origins. And you’ll see it was designed precisely for the purposes it now serves: the vehicle of an anti-west, the USA as symbol of that WEst, force to undermine the entire ethos of that West. In the service of that 20th century ethos called Marxism/socialism. Piggy-backed on the guns of August. To dismantle ALL western empires, and replace with the NEW WORLD ORDER of the East.
Lenin and his co-conspirators proved they had the patience to WAIT, with the abilities to hide unremarked for their moment of triumph. The result: a half-century reign of terror, relieved in 1989, the bicentennial of the Storming of the Bastille, in the tearing down BY the inmates of the prison wall of their new world order.
BECAUSE of Western Leaders who believed in the capacities of PEOPLE left to achieve without officials’ interference their individual DREAMS. THE particular ethos of the USA and primary example of the WEST
New models of the Founding Fathers of the USA in Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan, neither of whom ever wore the mantle of unearned, inherited privilege. Think of the spitting hatred of the bien-pensant, the “elite” in the entire West, exemplified by media pundits and the faculties of the “elite” universities towards these two leaders. Even before they became the leaders elected by the “common people”. AND even now.
The USA has always been an affront to the “elite” because common men in America PROVED their abilities without dependence on the elite, on rulers.
Is it an accident of fate that Woodrow Wilson, President of one of the most elite universities in the USA, an “intellectual” designed after the first world war the League of Nations,on the premise of “never let a crisis go go waste”. The UN its clone?
Is it just fate that the driving force in establishing the UN was FDR, a scion of a New Yrk most elite family in the USA, with his wife Eleanor established themselves in the “Democratic” Party of the USA as “lords of the manor” in their “Democratic” Party?
Is it an accident of fate that the present scions/hierarchs of the “Democratic” Party, the Kennedys, the Clintons and Obama with their wannabees in the “Republican” Party employ the same “lord of the manor” devices to succour THEIR dependent classes they now use as their serfs, slaves,on the dimes of Americans who respect and live by their ethos of individual responsibility?
AND that these heirarchs and their imitators ARE NOT HELD TO THE SAME LEGAL restraints as are ordinary citizens ? In a nation in which each individual is equal under the law?
Is it an accident of fate that the League of Nations/ UN has as its organisational framework the loss of INDEPENDENCE of the USA even when necessary in the national interest?
Is it an accident of fate the UN, despite being bankrolled in large measuer, directly and indirectly by Americans, IS NOT ACCOUNTABLE TO THE AMERICAN POPULATION except through politicians. Could that be construed as an illegal power grab by the politicians? As usual “for the good of the people” as the litany goes.
The entire history : design, establishment, framework, “authority” and actions on decisions of American Citizens for their own interest is a template of all the other illegal power grabs by professional politicians in the USA within the 20th and 21st century. ALL FOR THE GOOD OF THE PEOPLE, for fairness and equality.
AS IF politicians elected to “represent” Americans,by LAW they DO NOT RULE have not read or understood, or simply discount, the US Constitution. To which they each and all swear oath on accepting representation to Uphold AND Defend.
Inherent in which Constitution, for the entire world to read, legal Protection of Equality and Fairness : EACH citizen EQUAL under the LAW. EACH CITIZEN. NOT each OR ANY group.
And then for fun look at the back of the US Dollar bill and the motto inscribed: NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM — New order of the ages.
Time to defund the UN and remove the building.
About 30 years past time, but it ain’t gonna happen. Well, barring a revolution in this country in which the people actually take back control of the government, it’s not.
Unfortunately, you nailed it. Not gonna happen, short of revolution, which ain’t gonna happen with the conditioning the sheeple have been exposed to for generations.
There is, of course, the potential candidate who has all the courage to take on the so called “UN”, defund it and expel from the US (long overdue).
Sarah Palin has shown over and over again that she can challenge the most powerful and defeat them.
John Bolton as her Secretary of State shall carry that epic and gigantic task.
Then America shall regain her total independance from any interferrence from the outside world and begin rebuilding her statehood, her morality, her economy, her military power.
This is, naturely, only a small part of the even more gigantic set of reforms that are as fundamental as indispensable for the survival and restoration ot the US.
Those reforms must also include the immediate cessation by America of financing her enemies.
America must stop funding Islamofascism and petro-terror (perpetrated among others by Russso-fascist regime) by developing her own sources of energy and modernising and diversifying her energy industry.
Stop funding Sino-Fascism by forcing China to balance her trade with US by any means necessary. Devoid of funds, China will have to stop supporting the most barbaric and genocidal regimes, whom it uses as a proxy against the US.
Stop funding the narco-terror by shifting responsibility for that monstrous social pathology from the third party (drug pushers) onto the real perpetrators – the drug abusers.
Defeat the domestic enemy by immediate and brutal withrawal of money from the PARASITIC SECTOR. Perhaps the most difficult and dagerous (bloodshed unavoidable) task of them all.
Boost high technology and the atmosphere of safety and stability for the American economic life by increasing the military spending.
If America embarks on all those bold reforms, the rest of the so called “Western world”, including my own “Eunuchalia” shall follow albeit reluctantly as the “silent majority” will get encouraged by American succes.
And that is what I wish my American Friends in the incoming New Year.
>>Sarah Palin has shown over and over again that she can challenge the most powerful and defeat them.
True. And I don’t expect anything out of a President Gingromneypawlenty.
(PARASITIC SECTOR) Read Government Employees.
The title of this article by Mr Simon is another one of those phrases which should be placed on billboards and flashing overhead electric signs across all of the Interstate Highways in America. Why the Interstates?…What about “no signage allowed” on the Interstates?…. because that is the perfect metaphor for Intra-foreign-state-anti-Americanism. Which we American taxpayers are the primary money supply, and blood supply in time of war.
This is, of course, the essence of Orwell-Think.
This is another opportunity for me to emphasize that American blood and American cash are not inter-intra-national entitlements.
Our esteemed EPA should cite the UN as an unregulated cesspool and shut it down.
Let’s de-fund the EPA while we’re at it.
Live and learn. I used to think it was just right-wing nuts who said, “Get the UN out of the US and the US out of the UN.”
Republicans defunding the UN ? Are you kidding ? The corruption has been going on for generations with full awareness by both the Dems. and Repubs.. The responsibility for the corruption begins and ends with those who provide funding – primarily the US congress. First defund the US congress which is the fish head from which this fish is rotting. Won’t happen.
I vote yes to United States defunding of the UN. Not only is that organization anti-semetic, it is also anti-American. Why should we fund, those who wish to undermine us?
Lucky for me my father was only a truck driver and my best friend’s father only owned a hardware store. My BF father’s BF was the head of security at the UN in the 50′s and the friend got us passes to the security council debate on the Hungarian revolution in 1956, I was 14 and even then I knew just from listening to the bilge coming out of the mouths of the “diplomats” that the UN was a bunch of crap.
Sorry you had to grow up the son of a no doubt well meaning but deluded father. Nonetheless welcome to the real world.
Thedaddy
A friend of ours calls the UN the “United Nothing”. Which is being generous because it’s worse than nothing as an institution. Count me in on the defund it vote!! And getting that horror out of NYC would be a boon to the city, occupying prime real estate as it does.
If the new Congress continues to fund nonsense like this, then we will know they are not serious about controlling spending.
Brussels would be a good place to relocate the UN. It already has a masses of bureaucratic agencies beyond the reach of the people they rule by fiat and regulation. Room can easily be made for the friends and relatives sent by to the UN by the corrupt third world kleptocracies.
Yes, defund the almost 25% of the UN budget paid by the United States.
In this video, we see Iran, North Korea, Egypt & China (!) complain about United States “human rights” violations while the crowd sits there calmly absorbing this mind-boggling propaganda.
The United Nations has morphed into a venue for US (and Israel) bashing. There are US persons seemingly on board for that, like Michael Posner (what a wuss) shown in this video. I’d venture a guess that Susan Rice thinks as well of the US as the guy who appointed her ambassador, Barack Obama.
Durban II in Geneva…Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was the keynote speaker of a human rights conference.
Durban III should be a circus.
And that, my friends, is the UN. Bedbugs are the least of its problems.
I am with you. Zero the budget and invite them to leave NYC.
They won’t.
They will if the ‘invite’ is at the point of a gun.
That would be my most favored method.
Scrap the UN throw the corrupt scum off our soil and use the building that our TAX dollars bought for some other purpose.
This organization is nothing but a money sucking power grabbing band of thieves from Dictator controlled counties, time to send the parties back to their home counties.
I’m not sure even WHO is still worth keeping, anymore.
With the building financial implosion, the UN will finally be defunded. Because all its contributors will be broke. When the money dries up, all of the crooks will go home.
It’s not gonna happen.
The U.N. is the headquarters of the chimera, i.e. the alliance of marxists, islamists and elitists.
The GOP hasn’t yet decided if it is ready for an all-out fight against the chimera.
It is a crime against humanity that taxpayers are forced to finance one of the most evil organizations on earth. The wicked UN is rabidly anti-human rights, anti-Jew, anti-Free World.
Ahhh, the home of the One Worlders.
The nest of thieves and the den of scoundrels. How many Jews are there in the world? I’ve heard anywhere from 13 million to 18 million.
Less than half the population of California.
Or, about the exact same number of illegal immigrants in America.
2.2 billion Christians (Catholic/Protestant/Orthodox) are certainly a bit harder to wipe out….especially by the 1.5 billion Muslims.
So, to “even up” the game, One Worlders need to band together. They have the same goal. Destroy Biblical faith-based notions through as many venues as possible. There is little need to distinguish between Old Testament and New Testament followers, they are all to be eroded, denigrated, reviled.
The followers of radical Islam speak in concert with the followers of radical Woodstock. The UN is the tent in which these bedfellows make political whoopee.
But, I would not move them and I would not “defund” them.
Flush them out into the open, both of them. The One Worlders may have a different notion of the end game (or end days, as it were), but they are a train wreck moving in the same parallel path, with ties that bind their parallel rails closely.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Your careful analysis hits the same spot that I intended to highlight at my #30 above, but I somewhat disagree with the
“flush them out into the open”
because quite that (taking them into the open) is the difficulty:
the elitists lead the “One World Order” subversion from the shades.
And in the same shade they talk the Rinos into submission…
How do we “flush them out into the open” ???
And let’s not forget 1 billion Hindus…
And probably another half billion Buddhists (we cannot know much about China…)
Marxists, islamists, and elitists have a difficult job to submit us all…
Not to speak about the fact that God Who Is Infinite Love certainly did not teach to slam planes into buildings, subvert the education of children, and govern from the shade of conspiracy and will not help the “chimera”…
SZ
You flush them out into the open by giving the narcissists among them a podium, a microphone and a sense that there are people listening.
In fact, it is high time to adopt some of the methodologies of the lapdog media co-conspirators.
Get the most outrageous of them to speak, openly and often. Give them every opportunity. Find more and more and more of them.
I think that we should let them have the largest platform, the loudest microphone. Find the most extreme of the extremists and let them shout all they want. Don’t worry about them offending people, rejoice in it. When someone tries to water down what they truly are saying, to cover for it…go back to them ask them to amplify. Instead of plotting in the shadows, keeping the mask on, hiding behind an organized fraud…let’s let them convince everyone of the wisdom of their hatred and bile…out in the open. Strip off the masks. Crack the shells of deceit.
Their train is barreling down the tracks, let’s give it a little more coal to burn.
Interesting.
It could work.
See the top title of the Blaze today (Tuesday Dec,28th)
http://www.theblaze.com
: Jesse Jackson asking for a RADICAL REORDERING of the economy.
He seems to play his idiot’s role very well !
I seem to recall reading comments to pieces about the UN in the WSJ, about legislation that is stuck in committee in either the House or Senate, or both.
The legislation would see the US withdraw from the UN.
To tell you the truth, the post-UN chapter of the Chronicle of the world, can’t begin soon enough.
As for what to take its place, take a look at what was proposed to David Lloyd-George to Robert Laird Borden (the Canadian Prime Minister at the end of the First World War). For reference, take a look at “Paris 1919″ by Margaret MacMillan.
The single greatest step towards freedom and world peace would be the elimination of the UN. If America left, the whole miserable enterprise would collapse.
I don’t understand why it is taboo for a politician to call for our leaving that wretched cleptocratic, terror-supporting bunch of freaks and miscreants.
There is no good that the UN does that an association of free, democratic countries can’t do, and do a hundred times better.
Time for the U.S. To Defund the UN?
The question should be: why wasn’t it done MUCH SOONER?
First, don’t send delegates to Durban III.
Second, relocate the UN to a big tent on Pitcairn Island.
“relocate the UN to a big tent on Pitcairn Island”
Why pollute a nice island?
Move it to a lefty paradise…Tripoli, Caracas, Havanna, Mecca, Damascus, Pyongyang or Gaza.
Every other year it is nice to trot out a de-fund the UN piece. Let’s say we quit talking about it and do something. Clearly we are talking about a very costly and very corrupt entity.
Prediction: all talk and no action by congress past, present and future.
Just walk away. Bring our troops home from any U.N. job and walk away. Give no reasons (excuses)and provide no more funds. If WHO will stand as an apolitical organization, separate funding for it could be provided, but even it could be replaced.
The U.S. has been more than generous to Arab and Muslim nations in direct foreign aid, military assistance and other ways. Egypt receives about $2 billion of American taxpayer dollars every year, yet it still votes against American interests at the U.N. 79 percent of the time. Jordan, a “moderate” Muslim nation, receives nearly $200 million annually in U.S. foreign aid, but votes against America at the U.N. 71 percent of the time. Pakistan votes 75 percent of the time against the U.S. at the U.N. while pocketing nearly $7 million annually in foreign aid (in addition to the money it gets to supposedly fight al-Qaida).
An even better example of the disconnect between American assistance and changed Muslim attitudes toward the U.S. is the Palestinian Authority. As former Israeli diplomat Yoram Ettinger writes for ynetnews.com, just since 2007, “U.S. foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority and to PA-controlled (nongovernmental organizations) reached nearly $2 billion, in addition to $3.7 billion contributed by the U.S. to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East since 1950.”
If the news has the word “United Nations” in it, it’s guaranteed, definite, surefire, cast iron, in the bag, clear cut, assured, straightforward, a sure thing, that it’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
One swell foop: defund the UN and use the money to build an Israeli-like wall along the Rio Grande.
Disliking and even hating Israel is hardly equivocal to the Wansee Conference. You might want to think about backing off such rhetoric because you could alienate people on your side.
It’s not all that different from delusional and historically challenged depictions of Bush as Hitler. With the Wansee Conference, you’re talking about an event where how to set up a smooth bureaucracy for the butchery of 11 million Jews was discussed. Thinking Iran’s President might set up such a conference were it within his power to do so is not the same as actually doing it.
It’s a long way from denying the Holocaust to setting up the machinery to do it yourself. I agree that these U.N. morons are Orwellian children lost in a dream of world exceptionalism but with the actual thinking power of a child. We should denounce the U.N. as the racist organization it is since it buys into the white man as the snake in the garden of the innocent Third World, surpassing that Third World in tech until tech itself and its attendant success becomes immoral and not the intent on the part of the Third World to enslave, war and murder taken out of the hands of those without wheels or gunpowder.
We will see very soon whether our newly elected conservatives are the real deal. My feeling is the elites who have been in DC for ages will get their claws on them and turn them into the puppets that politicians are.
Can I get a H-LL yes! Like Monty Python said run away run away!
It should be defunded and politely (at first) asked to leave.
The UN’s very quick evolution into an intellectual slum began in the fifties. It is a reflection of what I have always believed to be true about a good part of the human race: substandard and the term civilized does not apply to most of it.
The elevation of many groups and countries to the status of exemplar comes to us courtesy of the brand of multiculturalism long fostered by the UN. Early on most of its members rejected the standard of decency in the Western world and inaugurated their own, with the result that it quickly converted the UN into a cesspool in all but name.
The UN is a reflection of the human race and that big mirror on the Hudson shows a pretty ugly face.
We should bring back the battle cry of the early ’70s — “Get the U.S. out of the U.N. and get the U.N. out of the U.S.” In addition to defunding this third-world diaster (22% of funding comes from American taxpayers), we don’t want those leeches, commies, and Islamic-fasicst supporters on our soil.
Next, we should defund the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Agency for International Development, and eliminate most foreign aid. Most Americans are unaware apparently that they pay $100 billion per year to support foreign dictatorships and to provide food and healthcare for hundreds of millions of people.
Where in the Constitution is the federal gov’t given the authority to do this? Such authority won’t be found in the “general welfare” clause, which applies to America. It won’t be found plausibly in the national defense clauses, or anywhere else. Welfare for foreigners, which is what foreign aid is, has nothing to do with American security. Taking care of the world’s poor is the job of the international charitable community, not the American taxpayer.
These unconstitutional expenditures, along with all corporate subsidies/tax credits, agriculture subsidies, funding for Planned Parenthood, NPR/PBS, Legal Services, et al., adds up to hundreds of billions of dollars. Those who say that we can’t eliminate the deficit without cuts to the Big Four — defense, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid — are wrong. Not that those oxen shouldn’t be gored too.

Mr. Simon: I could not agree with you more (as well as Claudia Rosett)…We should begin immediately to “defund” the “United Unholy”. The organization is indeed a home for the truly disgraceful of the world!
THINK OF ALL THE GOOD THAT THOSE MILLIONS OF AMERICAN TAXPAYERS’ DOLLARS COULD REALLY ACCOMPLISH, SHOULD PEOPLE OF INTEGRITY DELEGATE THE USE THEREOF.
Happy New Year–minus the UN.
Nancy Joyce Jancourtz said..
“THINK OF ALL THE GOOD THAT THOSE MILLIONS OF AMERICAN TAXPAYERS’ DOLLARS COULD REALLY ACCOMPLISH, SHOULD PEOPLE OF INTEGRITY DELEGATE THE USE THEREOF.”
Better yet use the “tax dollars” wasted on the UN to pay off our debt to china. Then reduce the taxes once the bills are paid.
the economic impact on the prostitution ring in the surrounding area would be devastating!! cmon folks…its the economy stoopid!!
Roger; good article and please do keep them up. We need the UN out of New York, we need to not be a part of the UN anymore.
It’s all about money. And national flames and control. They pick them very selectively.
And though it was only reported on in a minor way, please don’t forget the criminal activity they’ve been involved in – such as the thousands of rapes down in Africa a few years back.
The UN has the ability to make pure slime appear as decent people with title, sadly.
It’s more than high time we told UN to ‘hit the road’.
we should cut all funding for any enterprise that is not in our best interests, period. we are borrowing money against our children’s future so we can hand it out to a bunch of incompetents who hate our guts?
dem’s will soon be screaming about pub’s being the party of ‘NO’! when it comes to spending, no is the word we want to hear. no to the u.n. no to obamacare. no to n.p.r. no to earmarks. no to special interests. no to handouts to healthy people to sit around for years/decades. no, no, no, no, no sounds like America on the rise again. no?
We need to defund a lot of corrupt crappola. Where to start? Where to end?
The problem is, we are so entrenched up to our eyeballs in massive debt and dirty deals done dirt expensive that we are on the fast-track to collapse on a scale that is so frightening…well, most minds who know math can’t even fathom it.
The FED and the US dollar is a debt-upon-debt-upon-debt of epic proportions and we (the USA) could collapse the world economy with our own ‘socialist scheme’ idiocy.
The TARP bailouts? HA! FAIL. The banks need to FAIL along with all of the other ponzi schemes the Leftists have foisted on us. Will we survive it? My daughter will but will I? I don’t know…but I will live in poverty if it means we can right America.
Roger is right and although the U.S. started, organized and funded the U.N. it and little Israel are the major recipients of most of its wrath. Neither of our political parties seem inclined to straighten things out so one might suspect that there may be an invisible entity somewhere pulling the strings.
The U.N., even with the current offsetting Security Council is a democracy of dictators, one dictator one vote. The cry for full democracy in the U.N. cannot be far away. Poor little Israel and poor big United States now must tip-toe the line of demands of the democratic “majority”, but soon will have to toe the line or leave.
We are not a democracy because our founders knew better, and the French Revolution and the U.N., among other examples, prove that democracy becomes rule by the mob. Presidents and other U.S. leaders do us a disservice when they extol the virtues of democracy for others when we don’t have nor want it to replace our republican government.
The people who think moving the seat of government further from our people will make it “better”, ignore the fact that we currently have trouble keeping the President and Congress obeying our Constitution. We will have no hope left if we transfer our sovereignty to Turtle Bay, Brussels, Beijing or elsewhere. It is time to cut the UN cord and return America to its unbounded state while helping Israel and others to do the same.
Sir you are 100% correct….but how do we make people listen. And more important understand what is going on.
“When I was a kid, I thought the United Nations was the most righteous and positively idealistic organization in the world.”
Smart kids realized that adults were lying about some things. This was one. Better late than never, I guess; although it’s already too late; it can only get worse. The UN has been anti-American, anti-liberty from its foundation. Now that it’s anti-Semitic as well, perhaps a few more people will wake up to oppose the UN.
The actions of this organization seem to be a parody to what it in general used to be probably because the organization needs restructuring and reorganizing badly. Because it is corrupted as well, and becaus e the leaders of the organization have evidently forgotten what their duties originally were and simply chasing the power.
The World Health Organization! We can only speculate as to how much money was spent developing, producing and dispersing H1N1 anti-virus to stop the WHO Pandemic that never was.
Durban I/II/III…
A modern iteration of Marat/Sade.
Mr. Simon has truly “called a spade, a spade.” However, all the descriptions of anti-Semitic proceedings and intentional malfeasance that have been occurring and will continue to occur will mean nothing if the funding is not cut for the UN and if Durban III is allowed to happen on US soil.
Most ironically, I have a framed woodcut that was done in 1945 in San Francisco at the opening of the UN. My father’s cousin, Joe Raphael, was the artist who portrayed a minyan of Orthodox Jews having a meeting or praying. (Perhaps they were Chassidic rabbis, but who knows!!!) We have to pray hard, again, and we have to act.
The UN has become a corrupt entity from top to bottom. We should not only defund it, but tell them to move from the US to another country which will absorb their expenses.
