Van Jones: Glenn Beck trumps the NYT
Mickey Kaus asks some good questions today regarding the NYT Van Jones coverage:
Amazingly, many New York Times print readers still don’t know why Van Jones resigned! Here’s how the paper’s John Broder describes his situation:
The adviser, Van Jones, a controversial and charismatic community organizer and “green jobs” advocate from the San Francisco Bay Area, signed a petition in 2004 questioning whether the Bush administration had allowed the terrorist attacks of September 2001 to provide a pretext for war in the Middle East. [E.A.]
Reading that, would you realize the petition was a Truther petition?
Obviously not. (Incidentally, Jones has claimed he signed the petition by accident when someone waved a clipboard in front of him. But if you look at the list of signers, his full organization name and role are also there. Oh, well, I guess they could have filled that in for him.)
Kaus goes on to reference the earlier Sarah Wheaton report from the Times website that was straight forward about the Truther petition. I had read that report almost immediately after it was published on their site and was pleased to see that, at last, the paper was acknowledging the story. Of course, there was no explanation of why they had ignored the story for months, anymore than there is explanation even now about why the paper published Walter Duranty’s whitewash of Stalin’s mass starvation of Ukrainian peasants in Thirties when other publications were reporting the atrocity that murdered millions. (I could go on – and have.)
But what fascinates in the Times/Broder article is the role of Glenn Beck: Chief among those keeping the story alive was Glenn Beck, the conservative host of a Fox News Channel program. Mr. Beck began criticizing Mr. Jones in July, first in segments on his syndicated talk radio show and then, on July 23, on his Fox News program, said Christopher Balfe, the president of Mr. Beck’s production company.
There’s some reference to Beck’s advertising woes (a subject with which the Times should be familiar) due to Beck’s having called Obama a “racist.” But the substance is that Beck got the scoop. His numbers are going up and NYT’s continue to go down as the Newspaper of Record searches for a new economic model.
Part of the reason for this is pretty obvious. People trust Beck and they don’t trust the NYT. Beck may be biased, but he’s honest about it. The NYT persists in the illusion of even-handed reporting, even when, in a case like the Van Jones scandal, they clearly decided not to run the story for political reasons, but don’t have the cojones to admit it. Or is there another reason? We’re waiting.

You didn’t mention that PJM co-founder Charles Johnson dissembled on Van Jones behalf. Van Jones signed a petition by an organization called 911truth.org. How CJ could think that Van Jones didn’t know it was a truther petition is beyond belief.
Steve, I’ve got to say, Roger didn’t mention unicorns, cream cheese, or the speed of light either. Why? you might ask.
Maybe because they don’t have anything to do with the topic of the article.
Think on it.
He signed the petition on the clipboard without reading it? Did he think it was for an autograph? Do we have that on videotape too? We are in this mess because many signed loan papers or signed off their approval on same loans without reading them.
Howard Dean has said a couple of interesting things:
1) Jones is a Yale Lawyer, and
2) He didn’t read what he signed.
What’s wrong with this picture?
Steve, CJ is no longer (and hasn’t been for a long time) associated with PJM. And I agree, he’s really gone over the deep end in the past year. The guy is bordering on nutcase right now. I used to go there frequently. Now, I occasionally go there for the links bulletin board. I don’t bother with CJ’s articles. I don’t need the 87th article on the “nirthers”, or the 349th article on the creationists. It’s not as if there aren’t any important issues to to be writing about.
He’s obsessed, and bordering on pathological.
Question:
Will Michelle Obama and Joe Biden be asked questions concerning Jones?
Reports are that they BOTH lobbied on his behalf…………particularly Michelle.
Perhaps the odious Diane Sawyer or the sickening Katie Couric can ask Michelle some questions in between kissing her ass and feeling her biceps.
I don’t go there anymore. CJ has been obsessing with creationists and birthers. He sounds more like Bill Maher lately.
Careful, folks. This is an artful conjurer’s trick. Now they get to throw people under the Van instead of the bus.
7, you’re right. It ain’t pretty when a van goes under a bus:
http://www.columbiamissourian.com/media/multimedia/2009/01/30/media/01302009_BusAccident_1_t_w600_h600.jpg
Glenn Beck and the New York Times, a 21st century replay of David and Goliath, in slow motion, high definition, surround sound, and virtual reality, only this time the virtual reality is morphing into the other kind, the one that will knock you down for good, not merely clear your socks for take-off from the hope-and-change runway.
More drama is coming, of the train wreck variety. The dramatic tension between the messianic pronouncements of the candidate and the ill-inspired fumbles of the grumpy president provided the latent energy for the collision that has just begun.
Van Jones is merely one of the early red-hot fragments shooting out of the fracas, with the high velocity of a previously unrecognized sub-atomic particle exiting sideways out of the tax-payer-funded neutron smashing machine.
I propose that the particle be named the “Hyperlefton”, with the following attributes: high spin, negative electoral charge, zero mass and 6-month half-life. The good news is that the kinetic energy of the Hyperlefton can be converted into green energy, so you may enjoy a bit of parsley on your potatoes, including the hot potatoes falling into the press secretary’s lap, just to be fair.
I would not feel so proud if I was the science czar. May the laws of Quantum Physics come to the rescue of the LUI (legislating under the influence) clowns on the hill, signing bills so they may be read later, by future generations.
Glenn Beck should run a background of all these czars and closely watch these shadowy people. There is an explosion of Czars in this adninistration. Worst attached to this jobs are billion of dollars with no accountability.
The only way I would pick up The New York Times is when I run out of toilet paper.
Next up for Glenn Beck–Cass Sunstein.
Kate Rafferty, going after Cass Sunstein in the same manner as Van Jones would be a mistake on Beck’s part. You may not agree with Sunstein ideologically, but he is not the type to sign on with Truthers or use obscenities on television to describe Republicans. The concept of Czars may be wrong, but Sunstein himself is a qualified person.
If you want easy money and amassed millions, first become a race hustler or a community organizer or union boss or ambulance-chaser then run for congress and not pay taxes. Ask Rangel.
The things people choose to focus on are sometimes beyond understanding. There’s a big outcry because he’s a ‘truther’ (a very silly set of beliefs, to be sure), but must less outrage over the fact that he’s a communist, a rabid environmentalist, and a Black Liberationist – and he was hired by the Administration to put his beliefs into practice using Federal power?
Weird.
Why do we need the thousandth lamentation about, gee whiz, the New York Times isn’t an objective newspaper? We have all known that for at least 15 years. We still complain because they supposedly do so much to set the agenda for debate in the country. But doesn’t this episode demonstrate that that is increasingly no longer true? The Times was completely irrelevant to this issue. Isn’t that a good thing? Most of us stopped reading the Times a long time ago. It’s time we stopped caring about it, or at least obsessing about it. It’s like high schoolers without a prom date gossiping about what the prom queen said the other day. Time to move on.
I’m sure Jones graduated from Harvard when someone waved a diploma in front of his face, and he had no real understanding of what that meant either.
14. Roger L Simon,
In that same vein of thinking, while he isn’t a ‘czar’, John Holdren is plenty odious. I’m not sure, but I don’t think his position involved ratification, making it politically similar to a czar position.
If Beck has any sense, he’ll be preparing the voodoo doll for Holdren right now.
And for the record, I’m no fan of Sunstein, either. His “philosophy” amounts to the government selling papal indulgences. A pox on him and his obscene ideas.
It’s getting to look like Charles Johnson’s role model is David Brock. He’s taking that career path.
“Beck may be biased, but he’s honest about it.”
Plus, he does not comment without presenting facts that can be confirmed elsewhere.
Victor Erimita:
Why do we need the thousandth lamentation about, gee whiz, the New York Times isn’t an objective newspaper? We have all known that for at least 15 years.
If the NYT were NOT one of the mainstays of the ‘progressives-uber-alles’ universe, including the MSM, the universities and public employees large and small, it could be laughed off. But the Times is not irrelevant to this issue – it has directly nurtured it by its selective omissions of proper vetting of Jones, and of Obama himself.
And it still enjoys enormous influence over the politics of this country, sufficient to place an overloaded thumb on the scales of national elections.
Every time it is publicly demonstrated beyond a doubt, with evidence close at hand, that the NYT is viciously biased left and that the veracity and completeness of its ‘news’ are deliberately corrupted, there’s a little better chance that its influence over US politics will diminish. One day the sum of these evidential straws will break the camel’s back.
We may consider the Obama administration a heaven-sent incubator supporting constant bits of evidence exposing that NYT corruption.
The NYT does not need a new business model. They need to drop the narrative. That seems unlikely, and by continuing to ignore important stories they are giving their business to alternative news outlets. I say let them. Why not? It is a gift that keeps on giving.
Well, we’ve got Patterico fact-checking the LAT, we probably need a blogger dedicated to filling in the gaps of the NYT. Call it the New York Times Black Hole Blog, or something…all the relavent news that the NYT doesn’t see fit to print.
I would like to know why these people are so angry. It is disturbing to see how many prosperous blacks, with Ivy League educations, are so angry and so willing to trash the society that has given them such opportunities. I can understand the anger of those who are struggling but why are the people who have every advantage to prosper in our meritocratic society so determined to tear down the institutions that make their lives better than 98% of the world’s population?
I agree, going after Sunstein could be painted as a fringer kind of thing. I think the next domino to be given a push is the person who hired Van Jones, Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s right hand woman since the early Chicago days.
There’s already the video of her crowing about recruiting Jones and knowing all about his past. Because Jones’ beliefs are commonplace on the left, the White House is tone deaf to how the great middle finds those beliefs odious.
Let’s start looking for Valerie Jones’ videos.
is glenn beck on drugs?? he seems nuttier these days…
This story amazes me because Obama was elected with everyone knowing full well about Bill Ayers. Even John McCain made it an issue — and nobody listened that the best friend of the candidate was a bomb-thrower!
Now suddenly everyone is amazed at Van Jones?
What did you expect?
I think that Cass Sunstein’s ridiculous ideas (like animals having standing to sue in court) should be fully exposed.
I also think that the NYT, absent a federal bailout, won’t exist a year from now.
7 – just a couple of days ago i finally unsubscribed my rss from charles johnson’s little green footballs site after following it for 6+ years. just couldn’t take it anymore. the site has become more and more self-absorbed, bitter and, therefore, uninteresting. he seems to want some of that dan rather martyrdom complex action, or something. weird.
mik R U on some jiggaboo crack or somethin?
Speaking of Charles Johnson and Little Green Footballs, My account has been blocked on LGF not because of any comment I posted on this entire Van Jones issue, in fact I made no comments at all, but because I voted no on comments Charles and others made on various political aspects of the Jones story. I did vote in favor of Zombie’s posts, He reflected My views. I think Charles is being sucked back down the Democratic party black hole that 9/11 ejected him from.
“I don’t go there anymore. CJ has been obsessing with creationists and birthers. He sounds more like Bill Maher lately.”
—————————
If it’s allowed on here, could you tell me what site you mean? I’m just wondering if it’s the one I stopped reading after one too many creationist pieces. I have no idea who runs it.
Congratulations to Beck for raising the issue. What sunk Anthony “Van” Jones was his words, there could be no “walking back” from many of his outrageous statements delivered on camera, nor could the WH claim they did not know who this guy was. More birds of a feather.
Please give credit where credit is also due: Jim Hoft of
http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/
Just keep exposing–I’m sure there’s plenty behind each of these “czars” to disturb mainstream Americans. There’s no need to count scalps, or get caught up with “victories” over the Administration. The larger victory will come when the Administration, the Democrats and the leftmedia are left with the trust of 30% of the population as more and more of reality slips out of their grasp.
The NYT not the “Newspaper of Record”? Thank Pinch Sulzberger and his coterie of free riders for destroying the reputation and revenues of what was (arguably) the best newspaper in the world. My father and grandfather worked for the Times and up until recently my father could not say anything but good about an institution that built his career . . . now, he feels betrayed. When will the shareholders demand accountability from the divergent son (Pinch)? When will the advertisers demand a change (so circulation can finally rise instead of precipitously drop)? When will the readership demand a change? Perhaps it is time that the paper of record, becomes one.
You know you are credible when all a lefty critic has for retort is a juvenile ad hominem attack. See the weak, fact less, and pathetic lamentation of mik at 28 above.
Glenn gets overly emotional at times, but I can’t fault the facts he uncovers. Van Jones was hung by his own words and actions exclusively. David Sirota of Huffpo has only one rejoinder, the admission that Van Jones was an authentic, far left, radical and that his resignation marks a regretable recentering of the administration. Sirota is wrong about any recentering.
The MSM is in a death spiral of nonreporting. When you can no longer get news from them there is no reason to purchase their product or view their advertising. This small point of capitalism is lost on the scions of the MSM. Their eventual Chapter 11 status is inevitable.
The whole jones thing? A very small storm, in a very small teacup.
ROGER why in the world would you put “Beck may be biased” in your piece.
please show me the bias. if you cann’t you should not have put it there …trying to pander ?? you write a piece on intergety and then fail to apply it.
16. Jeff Perren:
Excellent point and I too wonder why. I would add to your points that, based on his words on the CD he produced while head of the Ella Baker Center, he might be an anti-semite as well. Focusing on his “truther” signature ignores the bigger picture of his real beliefs and what he has said and done to promote those horrific ideas. Weird indeed.
5. Calvin Ball: “Steve, CJ is no longer (and hasn’t been for a long time) associated with PJM. And I agree, he’s really gone over the deep end in the past year. The guy is bordering on nutcase right now.”
Sounds like a perfect PJM associate.
#5 Calvin
Thats the first time I’ve read anyone else mention the decline of LGF. I quit reading him 5 or 6 months ago. Something strange going on there.
Don’t forget Beck also broke the big “John Rockefeller was a communist” story too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywolrIaQjH8&feature=related
Beck is schizophrenic. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally, though.
Does anyone know how we can find out what the various Czars are getting paid?
The NYT is written and edited for the the rest of the MSM, Washington, D.C., residents of Manhattan, Boston, New Haven, Madison, Hollywood, the Bay Area and faculty lounges everywhere. The rest of us don’t even appear on its radar.
Beck got it first and right because he was paying attention and he investigated it..and then he actually reported it to the American public. He gave us Jones’ own words….
Reported the actual facts to the American public…wow!! what a concept.
Van Jones’ own words were his downfall…NOTHING that Beck said..Beck merely played the man’s words back to us and let us decide. Something no one else in the media would do.
Jones is a communist, Obama knows this fact. So, who else has Obama appointed to a place in our government that has such a background? Beck had a whole program on the czars, and it is not pretty what we have allowed to happen to our government.
Roger, I enjoy your blog but ever since the “hate speech” disclaimer a good number of my comments have failed to appear once they have been submitted. I’ll admit that this last one was mostly about my “hate” for communists but I said it in a nice way, I swear. Actually, I DO occasionally swear in private life, but not on this blog….I swear!
It figures, that one made it.
Jeff wrote,

Jeff, these are my feelings as well, our concern should focus on why this administration wants to hires these radicals, Communists, degenerates, and America haters. There are probably hundreds if not thousands of Van Jones types that are being hired by the administration, most of whom are in positions that allow them to fly under the radar. Although many of these Marxist America Haters will continue to infect the administration for decades, the real danger is the malignancy that has colonized the Oval Office. Of course this wee weed man has locked all his incriminating records from the public eye; there must be material available that can start the destruction of this phony president and his Marxist Visions of Dystopia for the US.
Glenn Beck gave us the TRUTH, he loves this country, so if he is biased or on drugs
who cares-WHAT HE SAID IS TRUE
I don’t see the “troofer” thing as the essential element of the presence of a Van Jones inside the Obama administration, except as an indication of Jones being an Idiotlogue, in the spirit of Michael Moore.
But what about the man’s intent inside the Obama administration to further communist ideas ? What about the fact that Van Jones and Bill Ayers share a nearly identical philosophy of life ? And who else is in there, advising this President ?
If the NYT didn’t get it, it’s because that paper hasn’t wanted (for a very long time) to get anything that doesn’t fit with its editorial staff’s pro-Obama meme, to which the newspaper of record clings as it declines.
The NYT and its spin on nearly every article that appears on its newspages…hardly seems like the story anymore.
We need more examination of the entire Jarrett/Obama/Jones (and who else?) nexus and who has facilitated Barack Obama’s rise. One thing everybody should accept, at the very least, said rise is not accidental or simply fortuitous, or based simply on the man’s finely honed talent to BS his way out of a paper bag.
Tangled Webs
If Charles Johnson were to spend 1/10 as much time linking to the words and backgrounds of Obama associates and appointees as he does “exposing” creationists and “nirthers” then we might not need Beck so much–so, Johnson would be fulfilling yet another of his current hobby horses, which is to run Beck out of town somehow.
No one mentioned Gateway Pundit, Jim Hoft, who broke the Truther story, which many, including Charles Krauthammer, believe was the straw to break the Van Jones back. Let’s give Jim the credit he deserves: a blogger.
57: “No one mentioned Gateway Pundit, Jim Hoft, who broke the Truther story…”
While Hoft, et al. deserve much credit for their contributions on the Truther angle, apparently the initial expose of Jones’ worst affiliations came at the hands of a New Zealand blogger, Trevor Loudon:
http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/ckincaid/2009/ck_09081.shtml
Funny how these clowns say the thing, then deny that they said it because they know it will be construed by most people as ding-a-ling, then muster up the audacity to be outraged that somebody calls them on it. Van Jones is a weasel who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He strikes me as a radical student leader. Good riddance. Go back to campus and all the liberal white kids who wait on every word you say. This is the f*$!ing White House, my man.
As for Charles Johnson, he can follow his own agenda but his site is just plain boring now. He seems content to not be seen as piling on with all the anti-administration stuff going on elsewhere on the web. Okay, but that leaves us without a lot to talk about. It seems like many of the old-timers have either lost interest or been banned for not bowing to the Cult. The Birth Certificate people are nuts. Okay, I got it the first 57 times. As they say, move along. Nothing to see here.
57.mbabbitt:very true.i usually avoid watching TV news, having read the story days before on a blog.
We also forgot to mention that Jones is a blatant racist, and eerily similar to Jeremiah Wright.
#48 I was wondering the same thing, but not just their salaries, what about their offices, staff, etc. The total cost for each Czar should be published. Including benefits such as health care, cars, equipment. All of it.
Roger Simon writes: “Part of the reason for [Beck's numbers going up and for The New York Times' to go down] is pretty obvious. People trust Beck and they don’t trust the NYT. Beck may be biased, but he’s honest about it.”
Wow, silly me for thinking that there was a brain under that silly hat, Roger.
Firstly, Glenn Beck relentlessy attacked Van Jones for the simple reason that Jones’ previous gig, Color of Change, humiliated Beck by organizing a very successful boycott against his show after he called the President of the United States a “racist” with a “deep seated hatred of white people”. And dishonestly, Beck has never once made mention of the boycott as a motive for attacking Jones; instead he presented his smear of Van Jones as a completely unrelated, good old fashioned commie witch hunt.
Secondly, The New York Times is a news gathering organization. Glenn Beck is a rodeo clown. Your baseles observation that people trust Glenn Beck more than The Times is laughable. Perhaps your readership – i.e. far-right conservatives who hate the president, who subscribe to “birther” and “death panel” conspiracy theories and who are keeping their kids home from school to avoid listening to the president’s speech – trust Beck more than the Times, and frankly, however, to quote Tom Freidman, these people are “flat-out stupid”, and the fact that it is these folks who make up your readership says a lot about you and your values.
Thirdly, there is no real story here other than the story about a “recovering” alcoholic, ex-addict charlatan who has built himself a lucrative little niche out of being this century’s answer to Father Coughlin and disgraced Sen. Joseph McCarthy -viciously and personally attacking political opponents while simultanously, hypocritically and endlessly playing the role of the victimized white conservative Christian male – complete with close-ups on his manufactured tear-filled on-creen breakdowns.
And this will end the way it always ends in America – a rabid right wing fascist, boldly overstepping his boundaries, takes his crusading witch hunt too far and is met with a backlash so severe that his career and reputation are ruined, to the point that his cause is ultimately parodied and scorned.
I can only hope that when the egg finally drips down Glenn Beck’s face; when he inevitably is exposed for who he really is – as the worst kind of craven, hateful opportunist, and when he gets his own “Have you no sense of decency, sir”-moment, that some of that egg ends up on your silly hat as well.
I’m glad to see Mickey Kaus over at Slate getting his due. I think he’s the most perspicacious blogger on the internet!
Minerva, Calvin Ball: He signed a clipboard petition without reading it was entirely credible. How many lawmakers, most of them are lawyers, have read the “stimulus” bill, the cap-and-trade, and the Obamacare bills before they signed on to support them?
Anyway, he didn’t have to read the clipboard because he has already known what was on it.
Charles Johnson has been exposed as a rather wishy-washy lefty with certain anti-jihadi tendencies. CJ has fallen in love with all things Obama, and has started to act like the MSM in protecting him.
After reading Dale at 63 I guess we can add his name to the troll list of people’s comments to skip over.
Dale, did you bother to research what Jones believes and asserts? He is a truther going back to January of 2002. He is also an admitted communist, his words not mine. He is also a racist. He didn’t belong in the Whitehouse.
What you say about Jones is incredible, given the mans own words.
#63 Dale. You are wrong in timing. First, Beck exposed Jones and only after it this radical organization(Jones was founder of ColorOfChange) started boycott call (using “Obama racist” comment)
I hope Beck continues to expose the communist underbelly of the b00bama administration. Beck was hardly off the mark in calling Bambo a racist [DUH].

“It is disturbing to see how many prosperous blacks, with Ivy League educations, are so angry and so willing to trash the society that has given them such opportunities.”
Black Democrats are not ‘authentic’ unless they are angry and identify with a ‘victim mentality’ no matter how successful they are/become. It’s the destructive mindset of the left and it is set in stone, to waver or question such beliefs is to be considered a ‘race traitor’.
@63 “…this century’s answer to Father Coughlin…”
Except Father Coughlin was a man of the LEFT, not the Right. When he criticized FDR’s New Deal policies, Coughlin did so claiming they weren’t socialistic ENOUGH, not because they were anathema to his supposed “right-wing” sympathies (which he didn’t have).
The New York Times did not want the ‘scoop’. They’re working for Obama, and not for us. That should be pretty obvious by now. Official apologist, propaganda ministry, but certainly not the newspaper of record. Just another yellow dog rag.
Poor Citizen, comment #42: ‘The whole jones thing? A very small storm, in a very small teacup.’
That’s right, folks. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Wow…
Jeff Perren:

Weird.
I AM WITH YOU 100% ON THIS! IT IS SO OFFPUTTING HOW SO MUCH FOCUS IS ON THE LESSER IF THE EVILS. THIS CROPS UP IN SO MANY “SCANDALS” THAT HAVE COME FROM THE bo ADMIN… OVER & OVER. PEOPLE! YES..TRUTHERS WAY OUT THERE! BUT PLEASE! LET’S KEEP OUR FOCUS ON WHAT IS IMPORTANT!!!
Dale: “Firstly, Glenn Beck relentlessy attacked Van Jones for the simple reason that Jones’ previous gig, Color of Change, humiliated Beck by organizing a very successful boycott against his show after he called the President of the United States a “racist” with a “deep seated hatred of white people”.”
FAIL. Beck exposed Jones first; only then did the Jones-founded Color of Change attempt to retaliate against Beck.
——————
Mr Simon- it strikes me that trees are crowding out the forest here: it’s less significant that Jones is/may be a Troofer, or uses bad language, or is even a ‘Free Mumiyah” loon- the point is that Van Jones is A FRICKIN’ COMMUNIST. One who declared his Cazrdom to be a platform from which to destroy “gray capitalism” and tear down the “oppressive and racist structure” of America.
Van Jones is the walking, trash-talking proof that Obama really is the hard-left radical we all knew he was, the Left mendaciously denied he was and the Center refused to believe he was; and that Obama really does share the beliefs of his old buddies Ayers, Wright, Pfleger, Rashidi, Abunimah and co.
PS:
That “very successful boycott” exists only on Color Of Chang’s website. Thae actual advertisers and FNN deny having pulled anything.
“Have you no sense of decency, sir”-
LOL. That little trick isn’t going to work this time. It worked for Welch in the 1950s, but Welch isn’t around anymore, and nothing’s going to save Van Jones’ federal job. His commie past has been exposed…and, he’s already out the door.
Hey Roger I’m just curious -
Is it you or someone else who keeps moderating away my comments here?
I’m curious why yours are the only comment threads on all of PJM where that happens?
Indeed.
77, same thing has happened to me in different threads in the past. I think there are gremlins in the system. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme nor reason to it.
There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme nor reason to it.
If you include HTML tags that aren’t supported by the system, it will ignore the post.
In some cases it will ignore the post if the HTML tags you use are supported but there is a typo of some sort in one of the tags, depending on the type of error (at least, I’m pretty sure that has happened to me in the past).
Then again, maybe it’s just gremlins … or a new Democrat moderator!
I see – so italics and bold aren’t supported… only in comment threads on blog posts (as opposed to articles)?
Not a moderator, because short posts are appearing immediately. A longer post, from which I removed ALL formatting, links, etc., still disappears.
Guess the comment system here is still inconsistent (i.e., crap).
We truly appreciate Beck and people like him. If not for these people, we would be wearing brown shirts and wearing jackboots. Thank goodness for trouble makers like Beck, Rush, Hannity etc… We need more of them!!
Have y’all heard of the “john Adams project”??? Disgusting crappy group, like ACORN and the whole bunch of commies..out to destroy our country.
I hope we can save our country. I would love to see my kids, grand kids grow up in the same country I did.. I don’t recognize America at this point.
No, no. Tags are fine. When it happens, it happens serially. Oddly, it seems to be thread specific; i.e. everything posted to a particular thread gets eaten.

More Beck? You got it:

I would think that by now -for reasons which should seem all too obvious- most people would conclude that the NYT did not cover the story simply because they did not think there was anything particularly disagreeable or controversial in all of Mr. Jones past statements or activities. Therein lies your great ideological divide.
Let’s talk about Beck’s family history of mental instability instead of Van Jones. Beck’s mother and bother committed suicide, now its no stretch to acknowledge that Beck himself isn’t playing with a full deck. It’s only a matter of time until he bites it.
NOW NOW “Now and Then” you trolls are supposed to comment on WHY Van Jones resigned not attack the messenger. Oh wait I forgot Van Jones is beyond redemption so why not get a bit of so called NeoCon bashing in while you can hey. You moonbat ‘libtard’ trolls are so predictable.
88. MisterH,
-And, that truly is the scary part!
@89., Let’s also talk about DohBama’s mother’s skanky, nude pictures and his deadbeat, alcoholic dad…
*wink-wink*
Beck simply introduced information readily available to anybody who might be curious about Van Jones.
The story is that the NYT does not consider a man with a history like Van Jones’ of any interest. They’re baffled. What’s the problem? It’s all good, so what’s to report?
Don: i feel the way your father feels, the NYT was once the paper of record, dull, serious but respected, but it’s now on a par with the hardleft Nation and won’t report any news that might tarnish their god, obama. Hey Delia, where are Obama’s mother’s skanky pics?
