Mondo Hollywood

January 13, 2006 - 11:19 am - by Roger L Simon

If you liked Mondo Alito, Pajamas Media is cooking up another goodie to appear over the weekend – Mondo Hollywood. This may be an ongoing feature through which this blogger loses all his remaining friends, but to start it will contain coverage of the American Film Renaissance Festival here in Tinseltown. For the first time we will be featuring video. Documentarian Andrew Marcus is coming in from Chicago for the event and will be videoing the participants at the Chinese 6 theatre and the Renaissance Hotel, all at Hollywood and Highland center.

UPDATE: Marcus’ own blog is here with a few festival highlights.

This may be an ongoing feature through which this blogger loses all his remaining friends, ….

    Both of them.

This may be considered OT, but related to hollywood hypocrisy.

John ‘I am not your monkey boy’ Stewart on his show during a discussion with a lawyer(I presume) by the name of Lazarus(?) in the dark realization that Alito would be nominated asked the question and I paraphrase loosely, “Gee, is it safe for Jews anymore?” “Should we all leave the country now?”

Now… I’m not Italian and I’m not Catholic, but what could the nomination of Alito to the Supreme Court possibly have to do with Jews that would be any different from Gentiles?

Is he saying that Alito is an anti-semite? Or, more to the point – racist?

If Judge Alito was not Italian and not Catholic, but ohhhh… Black.

Would he then say, “is it safe for the White man anymore?” “Should we all leave?”

What would be the response? Wouldn’t the DEMS and blacks rightly be condeming him for this same statement if they were the butt of Stew’s joke?

Is this not just reverse descrimination hidden by a joke? By projecting Alito as evil?

In fact I find this more hideous because in the guise of sarcasm and buffonery he’s really doing a hatchet smear job which people come to believe if you say it enough and yet find it somehow easily acceptable as a joke?

I wonder if Hollywood feels the same way as John?

Protect the homosexual, the black, hispanic – but not the Italian Catholic? They’re open targets?

    just some observations….

tooodles… and great job on the coverage.

Quick comment. ‘Jon’ not ‘John.’ Also, I think it’s safe to say that the quoted line was a joke. When, for example, Stewart suggests that Cheney is an evil cyborg? He doesn’t actually want us to believe that this is literally true. Cuz it’s just a joke.

Oh, also? What conservative film festival worth its principals would forget to drag Lionel Chetwynd out from under his grievances?

Quick comment, its not Stewart either… are you sure it is ‘jon’ with a j?

and it is not ‘just a joke’. it is branding Alito a racist without directly saying so.

my point stands, he would never say the same thing about a black

It is a disgusting form of humor to taint a man racist by a joke. Just a joke does not deny its leading intentions.

I’m agasinst racism of all kinds, but I’m careful not to label someone with that stigma so easily.

according to Kennedy’s logic used against Alito – guilt by association – Kennedy is a bigoted supporter of former racist KKK member Senator Byrd. Afterall, not only does Kennedy belong to the same club – he voted knowing Byrd’s history for him to be their leader!

And Kennedy belonged to an all-male club which excluded women at Haaaaaaaaavard. Sexist???

Ayyyye, a pint o’ale Teddy me boy, that’ll do ya fine, a good Irish Catholic should stay in the all male Owl Club who upon 1984 told to either go co-ed or go private – chose private. Seems like the very same issues as CAP. Yet all the leftist, feminist clubs in the world do not go after Kennedy.

Whereas Alito did not belong to an all male society. Hmmmm, go figure. Pointy finger syndrome “don’t turn towards me own eye” Teddy probably never had a student from India join his club either, but CAP did and a woman to, Laura Ingraham.

So, OWL Club, rich, elite, power brokers, white men, restricted, no women – Ted Kennedy

This broad stroke painting is easy as a Court Jestor when you think about it.

But facts don’t matter do they? Its all a joke, no harm done, hollywood and leftist media jokes don’t mislead anyone and do not misleadingly enforce stereotypes – do they?

Of course ‘jon stewart’ does not look in the mirror or at his left side and see the hypocrisy of Ted Kennedy staring unconciously back at him.

I see Gary Sinise will be there. I love that guy, and if I could I’d go just for him. Well, not really, I’d love to see the films also. A little bit of the “other side” if you will.
