Oil may be up but…

September 14, 2005 - 7:52 pm - by Roger L Simon

Black market prices for weapons dropped sharply, with the price of AK-47 assault rifles nearly cut in half, to $1,300, and even steeper reductions for handguns.

In case you’re wondering, that fire sale on AKs is in Gaza, according to the AP. [Wear a mask if you go shopping.-ed.]

So we’re beginning to see the radicals’ cards. Some guns are undoubtedly for individual self-protection, but the majority are destined for the terrorists who’ve vowed to destroy Israel. Land never meant peace; that should be clear to all. And the situation is about to get a whole lot uglier. Unfortunately, the decent portions of the Palestinian population are going to be victimized as well. Damn the fanatics to everlasting hell.

Wow, I think those go for about $200 in most countries. Guess the Israeli’s did a good job keeping the supply down.

  3. ìAnd the situation is about to get a whole lot uglier.î

It wonít get uglier for the Israelis. They have the Wall. The Palestinian crazies are out of sight and out of mind.

ìUnfortunately, the decent portions of the Palestinian population are going to be victimized as well.î

Things are only going to get worse. The economy will continue to deteriorate. A civil war may not even be out of the question. Nihilism dominates the landscape. Is there some way that Israel can let the Palestinian moderates move within its boundaries?

David Thomson ó Sure. Right after they let the rattlesnakes into their babies’ cribs…

  5. Heck, even with all the add-ons, my WASR-10 (Civilian legal AK from Romania)cost much less than that.

The arms are meant for the comming civil war.

Three thoughts went through my adled head when I saw that $1300 number:

    1. Somebody is playing those idiots for fools. The world is so hopelessly overstocked with AKs that the going prices is apparently the very low hundreds

    2. How do these supposedly destitute people who allegedly can’t afford a dirt sammich a day, or patch their UN refugee tent from time to time, and need to tear the irrigaton pipes out of greenhouses rather than wait for the tomatoes to ripen, find $1300 to purchase an AK

    3. Dramatically dropping prices would typically indicate one or both of two things: dramatic increase in supply or dramatic decrease in demand. Since, if we take the news clips we see of the Arab Street, particularly the Palestinian flavor, at face value every man and manchild over there already owns a least one automatic weapon and most of those are AKs. If we’re looking at a dramatic increase in supply, why would anyone looking to make a buck flood a saturated market? Somebody is “dumping” and the WTO needs to have a close look at this. If we’re looking at a dramatic decrease in demand, i.e, some wives and mothers put their foot down and told Achmed that one AK in the house was more than enough and to unload the other three, well, then that’s a good thing, isn’t it?

I think the answer to Knuck’s question #2 would have something to do with the money we are giving the PA. One would think that some adult would tell these clowns the price of our aid is an end to terrorism. They lose the aid for any month in which there is an attack.

It’s not up in my neck of the woods, it’s continuing to drop.
