Crow, Eating It
Well,as of 12:10 a.m. on November 7, it certainly appears I got this one wrong. By “this one,” of course, I mean the presidential election. I’ve thought since the summer that Mitt Romney would win. And after the debates, after the sullen, petulant, negative performance of Barack Obama these last weeks — to say nothing of his abysmal performance as President these last four years — I thought that Mitt Romney would surely win. Moreover, I thought that the American people would rise up as one and pick the person who had a vision of a freer, more prosperous, more confident America. It looks like I was wrong.
I’ll have more to say about the election in days to come. To say that I am disappointed strains the boundaries of understatement. I am more than disappointed: I am astonished, incredulous, almost. We’re in for a wild ride now, that’s for sure. It will take me some time to digest what just happened.

I too am astonished at the results of the election. I certainly believe that Obama demonstrated an extraordinary level of incompetency and arrogance. If the electorate cannot see this then we have a more serious problem than an underachieving president.
Ah, so it is crow you’ll be having when you take your London friend to lunch? Perhaps take a look at your own petulance and negativity, your own abysmal screeds (my favorite was the Nuremberg reference – I mean, really?), in order to lessen your near- incredulity and astonishment. Consider that by moderating your own shrill — and (probably) hateful — rhetoric you might find it easier to digest that crow. Bon appetit.
Jeff K above is a perfect example of the typical malignant Leftist today. His own hateful rhetoric totally escapes him. I see it on all the message boards–the constant accusations of Racism. The ridiculing of those on the Right as being greedy, uncaring, ignorant, unimaginative sorts who “cling to their guns and their Bibles”. The snide arrogant insistence that Republicans are “obstructionist” while ignoring the refusal of the Senate or the President to bring House passed bills to the floor.
I have no intention of pressuring anyone in the House to cooperate with these miscreants. Not that it matters anymore. In four years the country will be unrecognizable. This November 06 was probably the worst day I’ve experienced in the history of this country. The long reaching effects will likely be much worse than 9-11-01. Obama has a 0% chance of fixing the ills of the country. His solution to all problems is to print more money and give it to unions and crony capitalists who contribute kickbacks to the Democrat Party. He will likely appoint extreme leftists to the Supreme Court who, with the current 5-4 split no longer a safeguard, will negate any number of amendments. Guns will be illegal–as per instructions of the United Nations. Freedom of Speech will disappear. Taxes will skyrocket. The State Security apparatus will balloon and become a menacing nightmare…
I have no Silver Lining to point to. I’m not a political animal. I see no “next time we’ll get em”. There will be no next time. This event has led me to profound despair of my country’s future.
Does corruption of the elections process account for any of the unexpected dozens of conservative losses in nearly every locality? It’s just inexplicable for so many Republican candidates to go down in defeat.
Mr. Kimball, please tell us what you think about reports of this type:

You got it wrong four years ago too. Here’s what you said in The London Evening Standard then, in an article titled “Why Millions won’t be voting for Obama”:
“The polls and pundits are nearly unanimous in telling us that Obama’s victory is inevitable. Of course, he may win. But it wouldn’t be the first time that something was proclaimed inevitable until it didn’t happen.”
Then, not learning, you predicted with complete confidence that, in the face of the polls right up till the end, Romney was the inevitable winner.
Perhaps the problem was that you didn’t refer to him as Barack HUSSEIN Obama enough, though certainly you did your best on that front. Try googling your name with ‘Hussein obama” and see how many results you get. Then try doing the same with the middle and last name of any other president of presidential candidate. For some reason the results are much smaller, as if you never felt the need to mention the middle names of other candidates so much. I wonder why.
