Perez Hilton, gossip columnist extraordinaire, has gotten himself into hot water with some of his fans. Recently the blogger, who owns PerezHilton.com, posted an online photo of himself taking a shower with his 2-year-old son Mario.
The image was titled, “Our family motto is: #fun! We try and incorporate fun into as much of the everyday things we do”! #Bathtime #JrHilton.” It pictured Hilton and Mario grinning from ear to ear while they took a selfie in the shower.
The photo seemed innocent enough, but was met with a hailstorm of controversial opinions ranging from praising him for raising a “beautiful family” to accusing him of being a “pedophile” and “creepy.” Hilton fired back at his critics on an episode of his podcast show suggesting his homosexuality is what was really bothering people: “The real issue is that there is an undercurrent of homophobia and sexism. If this were a woman doing this people would have responded in a different way.”
Hilton, being an openly gay man, says he tried to pitch a show about gay dads, but was unsuccessful. “A show like that is NEEDED,” he said. Hilton doesn’t seem to be letting it get him down. He followed up the shower selfie with another bath-time photo of his son in the tub with the caption, “Don’t let the world change you. Change the world” #JRhilton”
