Independent Women’s Forum: Interview on Men ‘Going Galt’ and the War on Men
I was interviewed for a piece by the Independent Women’s Forum on my new book, the war on men and why men are “Going Galt.” Here are a few highlights:
Smith has a book coming out from Encounter Books entitled Male Strike: Society’s War on Men. The thesis of the book is that the deck is so stacked against men that they are “going Galt,” as Smith puts it. The term comes from Ayn Rand’s novel Atlas Shrugged in which society’s productive members went on strike—led by John Galt—because they were being exploited.
“In the case of men, the government and the politicians work in cahoots with women to extract money from men,” Smith says.” And then men aren’t entitled to a lot of the benefits, such as WIC (Women, Infants and Children Program) or a lot of welfare.”
The male strike can take the form of not marrying, not going to college or working at low-paying jobs and taking up hobbies to avoid paying into a system that uses state and federal programs to transfer men’s taxes to women. And taxpayer money doesn’t just go to what we regard as traditional welfare programs. Smith cites the Violence Against Women Act, which funnels taxpayer dollars to organizations staffed by activist women.
This is why it is of utmost importance to have a strictly defined government that does not allow for welfare, special privileges, or an abuse/overreach of power. Democracy, ie mob rule, is the surest way to allow this type of favoritism in gov’t to happen. In fact, it’s the primary way that free societies lose their liberty. However, If the gov’t is strictly held to its proper bounds and it is stipulated in its actual legal document (charter/constitution) that it can never excede this prescribed limit on power, either through elections or any means whatever, then this wipes out the problem. Society has become infatuated with Democracy, but it is democracy which is causing the downfall of real men and their move to “going Galt”.

Could it be because an emasculated society cannot successfully defend itself or even revolt? The pictures of the riots I see show mostly men throwing the stones, testing the tanks, and dodging the tear gas. I know, what about the Pu??y Riot girls but you see what happened to them.
Another phalanx (pun intended) of the war on western civilization, probably. Divide them politically, lower their testosterone levels, and don’t educated them properly. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
It used to be an imperative that men find wives and build a family as part of growing up and becoming a “real man”. It seems the men are less interested in that these days, if by no other metric than the bounty of articles by women who are angry that there seem to be few men interested in marriage and families these days.
It would not even be discussed unless it was happening and affecting women negatively.
It occurs to me that men who refuse to become fathers are the ultimate deadbeat dads. Is prison a harsh enough punishment for such slackers? We have already brought back debtor’s prison for men who shirk their responsibility to support women, maybe public floggings would help get them back into harness.
Get behind me, Satan! You speak a lie from Hell if you say that men should be incarcerated for refusing to marry. Scripture clearly states that celibacy is a virtue, and therefore the only condemnation for the unmarried is for fornication, not for refusing to marry.
Just imagine if women were cars and all of a sudden people started telling you that you didn’t need a particular type of maintenance. But then you noticed that people who listened to the conventional wisdom were either leasing their cars, or they had to get a new model every few years. And your car just didn’t run as smoothly as it used to. Do you stand at the side of the road yelling at your car, or do you dust off the owner’s manual and start doing the maintenance again?
You know, there was an update to the “owners’ manual” about 45 years ago about a misuse of certain parts:
“a man who grows accustomed to the use of contraceptive methods may forget the reverence due to a woman, and, disregarding her physical and emotional equilibrium, reduce her to being a mere instrument for the satisfaction of his own desires, no longer considering her as his partner whom he should surround with care and affection.”
So, the sexual revolution worked out about the way the (now-) Dead White Guy said it would. Women aren’t happy no matter how many times the marketers TELL them they’re happy. Isn’t this what men wanted from the Pill? You need to pick between happiness and pleasure, because you can’t have both; life just doesn’t work like that.
