Japanese Actor Beat Takeshi On Gay Marriage: ‘You Would Support a Marriage to an Animal Eventually’
Kotaku repots: Beat Takeshi Compares Gay Marriage To Bestiality.
One of Japans best known creators and comedians, Beat Takeshi, is catching heat for remarks he made about gay marriage. When shown footage of people celebrating President Obamas recent gay marriage remarks, Takeshi quipped, “Obama supports gay marriage. You would support a marriage to an animal eventually, then.” Um…Takeshi is, first and foremost, a comedian, and this might have been a very poor attempt at humor—though, its certainly not clear this was a joke. I dont think it was. Sure, hes not breaking any law, and hes clearly giving his off hand opinion, which hes entitled to. Some in Japan, however, found his remarks rather disappointing.

Barack Obama: “What? Marriage to an animal? That’s crazy talk! Dogs are for eating, not for f***ing!”
He’s obviously making a sarcastic reference to the slippery slope. Science-fiction has addressed this issue in satirical dytopians for decades. Only time will tell if we’ll ever fall to the point where 12 year old’s are dancing at the halftime games of jr. highschool basketball by emulating sex acts and gay propagandist’s instruct a teenage audience on the wonders of fisting.
Never gonna happen, burton! I mean, that’s as unlikely as some academic arguing seriously that it’s OK to kill children via “post-birth abortion”…
Gays recruit because they cannot reproduce. It does not take much of a crystal ball to predict that eventually they’ll use their political clout to vote for government assistance in this effort. The “all gay” high schools that were being organized in New York a few years back — ostensibly to avoid bullying — can be regarded as a first step in this direction because they make it more difficult for high-schoolers to change their mind and transition back into a heterosexual life.
To see just how far things can go in this direction, you should do some in-depth research into how the Spartans brought up their children…
If marriage is not one man, one woman, all bets are off. Polygamy is next, followed by little old ladies marrying their cats. If it’s not just one man, one woman (a foundation of society, by the way), it can be anything.
How progressive! By destroying society, the socialists/communists/Marxist can take control from the top down, a la Obama.
Based on the translated quotation presented here, the Kotaku headline is inaccurate and misleading. Takeshi did not “[Compare] Gay Marriage to Beastiality” or even human-animal “marriage.” He’s merely suggesting (whether he intends his words seriously or not) that whatever inclined people toward one position will incline them toward another.
Here’s an analogy: Let’s say I’m going to go on a hike through a forest with a friend who tells me not to bring a GPS device because it’s a product of the industrial world that will ruin our experience with nature. If I were to respond, ‘Soon enough you’ll be telling me not to wear pants,’ would any sane person think I was comparing the use of GPS with the wearing of pants? If anything, I’d be suggesting that my friend, not I, would find the two activities comparable, hence my attribution of the position to him. The implicit assertion is that the rejection of the latter activity flows from the same underlying principle(s) guiding the rejection of the former, and they need not have anything else in common for this relation to be real.
“Zatoichi” was great.
On the other hand, he could just be commenting on messenger and his convenient evolution more than the message itself. If memory serves me correctly, Mr. Takeshi has never shied away from controversy.
